Maple Ki provides a wonderful retreat experience. It's a beautiful indoor space with a cathedral ceiling and large windows proving an expansive view on the surrounding lake, fauna, and forest, with plentiful wildlife for the observant guest, including hummingbirds, beavers, and otters (an amazing experience!). Early morning yoga was restorative and responsive to my level of ability, held on a deck overlooking the water. I very much look forward to returning for the inspired vegetarian food, and to benefit from Julianna's commitment to provide a peaceful and regenerative space, which included offering various healing modalities. I loved being able to kayak and canoe whenever I was moved to do so. And meeting other like-minded souls seeking quiet and contemplation was re-energizing. Thank you Julianna and Mary!…
You can’t go wrong with yoga, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, great veggie cuisine and lots of R and R. Wonderful energy in a beautiful wood home. Everything you could want including peace and quiet. Come for the yoga, stay for the views, come back for the peace of mind.
I recently spent an extended weekend at this very secluded picturesque retreat situated on a very unusual but beautiful lake. The reservation process was very easy with good communication from Juliana. I enjoyed the surroundings with walking trails able to swim in the lake and possibilities for kayaking and canoeing. The meals were outstanding and suitable for vegetarians. Juliana was accommodating for any special requests. I enjoyed her lakeside yoga lessons on the dock. It’s best to book the whole place which accommodates 5-6 people comfortably. Only suggestion to owners would be to update the bedrooms. I would highly recommend this retreat for spending peaceful time in this beautiful place which is so easily accessible from Toronto and Ottawa.
The food, the location, the beauty of the area, there is almost nothing to improve this lovely getaway. You can do as much or as little as you like! The owner and her mom are simply lovely, wonderful ladies, they did a gluten free, vegan menu for us our entire time and everything was simply delicious. The view and outdoor amenities are wonderful with canoes, kayaks, paddle boat, fire pit, hammock and a lovely dock to sit and view the amazing night sky with a glass of wine. My only "complaint" would be that my body did not seem to like the beds. I was a bit sore during the night with aches and the bedroom with 2 small single beds is quite crowded. I have body pain issues though so may be fine for the average person.
Experience and amenities ranked in order: 1) the view and location, 2) the vegetarian food was outstanding, 3) room and bed were great, 4) yoga was ok, 5) spa treatments. Overall I had a really nice time, but I was looking for more in the yoga department.
