This cortijo is a recently restored typical farmstead, with Spanish en Moorish elements. The property covers almost about 2 hectares and is located in a green area, close to the nature reserve of "La Huma". On the domain are several fig, almond and olive trees. The swimmingpool is southern located with the magnificent panoramic view over the valley of the "Guardalhorce". We are located close to the "Caminito del Rey". Our B&B is an ideal starting point to explore cities such as Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga, Ronda, Antequera, Alora ... all accessible in less than 2 hours away. Or for those who prefer to explore the region, it is certainly worth exploring the real, unspoilt nature and rich history of Andalucia. Our active guests will certainly have fun, especially climbers, hikers, mountain bikers, paragliders, ...

Detailed Reviews
"What happens when to nice and warm guys get tired of a stressful life in Belgium and decides to move to Andalusia to open up a Bed & Breakfast on a mountain top with the intent of welcoming people from all over the world and raise animals and enjoy nature to its fullest? This place happens."
So, me and my BF wanted to spend a couple of days in the mountains while traveling around Andalusia. We found this little Bed & Breakfast at the mountain Huma, and we didn't really know what to expect.
First of all, you definitely should look forward to the car ride there. The smell of fresh air, the beautiful green hills and mountains and the aesthetics of driving through thousands of lemon and orange trees with the strong colors in bright contrast to the surrounding luxuriant nature is just breathtaking. You drive up and down small roads on the hills, and though some can be a bit challenging (especially when you are from Copenhagen, a city with no hills), it is a fantastic journey. And what a journey..
At the last kilometer you drive through tuff terrain. Suddenly you come to this small sign telling you, that the B&B of Don Camilo de la Huma is right ahead. The first sight is the "Yurt" - which is a tent'ish room set up a few meters away from the house. The landscape is green and small paths around the premise is set up with small stones. Then you see the pool, which almost looks like a painting - lying there alone with the view of hills, mountains and trees to the front, and the almost majestic Huma mountain in the back. There are some chairs etc. around the pool, where you can chill.
Then the house. Its white and pretty. We parked in front of the house and one of the two owners, Danny, greeted us right away telling a bit about the season (we wanted to know about all the oranges and lemons everywhere). We went inside and there we met the other owner Jacques. Together we sat down for coffee and talked about everything and nothing. They gave us some advice to what to see and do in the area, and were very good at spotting what we were in the mood for. That is one of the things we really enjoyed with the two owners - they listened, asked and guided us, and they had time.
We were introduced to our room. A nice room. The decor is set up buddha style with an Anatolian touch to it - and its done pretty well. The color scheme of our room was kind of blue, I guess, which is my favorite color, so off to a good start :) The bed was large and very comfy to sleep in, and there was water waiting for us in the room. The amazing terrace stod unimpeded in front of a view hard to comprehend. Nothing in front of it disturbed the fantastic view and fresh air from the El Chorro area.
Me and my bf love animals. Especially dogs. This place has a hole bunch of them, and they are so cute. They really love people, and we were allowed to pet and play with them. That was nice. We also got to meet the two horses and next morning we were invited to feed them. That was pretty awesome.
The philosophy of the B&B is, we share everything else than bed and bathroom. So in the morning and at night, we ate together with Danny and Jacques (if you don't want to eat together, you can opt out - but trust me, you want to experience Jacques' cooking!).
The conversations around the dinner table was exciting and funny. The second day we were there, Jacques had some of his family visiting, and they introduced us to their stories and life - very openminded and sharing people. The balance between feeling welcomed and participating in the social possibilities here, and at the same time with respect for our schedule going sightseeing on the Caminito and El Torcal was perfect.
There are five rooms here, so it will never get crowded - it is in our perspective a perfect place to go, if you want both to relax, socialize and eat fantastic food to store up energy for your climbing/hiking/biking/chilling or what else you might want to do at the El Chorro.
We will hopefully be going there again!
Thanks guys!

We stayed at this delightful B&B for two nights, walking the Caminito del Rey on the middle day; I could happily have stayed for a week or more.
The location is breathtaking - the mountains behind, the valley spreading out below. Flocks of sheep and goats are herded passed every evening, their bells creating the perfect rustic musical sound. The rooms and bathrooms are lovely - comfortable, well-equipped and beautifully designed - and the swimming pool is a wonderful luxury.
Danny and Jacques, the owners, are perfect hosts - welcoming, relaxing, engaging, great company. We all ate dinner together on both evenings - nice food, good wine and memorable conversations.
Please visit this lovely place if you can. Just be warned: you're likely to want to steal Canela, Danny and Jacques' gorgeous little dog.

+1
Perfect accommodation for a short break (or a long one for that matter)
Exquisitely decorated by one of the owners Jacque, it has been done in a really calm, warm, inviting and more importantly relaxing way. There's clear moorish influences and its a really nice place to be.
The two owners Danny & Jacque are great, they are very friendly and very welcoming. They speak a variety of languages and their English is very good.
Don Camilo is a 5 minute drive away from El Chorro, National Park Ardales is around 15 minutes away, various little villages and walks surround Don Camilo, it is also right on the GR7 route so it would make an excellent recuperation stay for weary travellers.
The facilities are great, there's a large selection of drinks and there's a nice swimming pool with great views.
Our room had a memory foam mattress and lovely large hot shower, private balcony to relax and enjoy on of the great wines.
Its location is up the hill from EL Chorro, high up on the hillside, if you don't have sat nav make sure you have directions. There are some small signs which simply say "Don Camilo"
It's a fantastic place that I'm sure you will love wether it is a retreat, relax, walk, sightseeing or romantic trip.
Enjoy!

What can I say... accommodations->wonderful, surroundings-> beautiful, hosts-> second to none. We stayed 3 nights as part of our trip to Spain. Location is close to lakes, El Caminito, and abundant hiking trails. Rooms were tastefully done and comfortable, breakfast each morning was awesome and dinners were a treat each night. Thank you Danny and Jac for making our stay so enjoyable.

My boyfriend and I stayed at his wonderful place in july as part of our road trip in Andalucia. Don Camilo de la Huma with the lovely hosts Danny and Jacques grew in our hearts and became the most reoccurring and treasured memory of our Spanish visit.

We spent the last two nights of our holiday with Danny and Jacques and wished we'd been able to stay for longer. We were made to feel so welcome and it was a great place to relax and unwind. All the food was delicious but the breakfasts were particularly special. We took our hosts' suggestions for a walk from the property and the views from it were spectacular. Do hope we can come back again!

We spent 4 nights at B&B Cortijo Don Camilo de La HUMA and we had an amazing time.
We were expecting it to be beautiful, but we found it to be way better in reality than in the pictures, and I have to mention
that we visited during winter. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during summer.
Thank you Danny and Jacques for being so nice, for your amazing hospitality and for making us feel like old friends.
Last but not least, thanks for the super tasty food.
I really hope we will be your guests again.
