Barcelo Mussanah Resort in the Sultanate of Oman is widely applauded for creating a relaxing and cozy ambiance, with guests frequently commending the cultural decor and vibrant events. Nestled on a tranquil beachfront, the resort is celebrated for its picturesque location perfect for serene strolls. The rooms are generally spacious and offer stunning sea views, although a few guests suggest improvements in maintenance. While the array of pools and amenities is well-received, occasional limited availability is noted. The staff's exceptional service garners consistent praise, contributing to the overall perception that the resort provides good value, despite some pricier extras.

My sister and I stayed here for 7 nights during Christmas 2019. We chose an all inclusive package which was definitely value for money, Plus the drinks and food would have been very expensive had we not chosen all inclusive. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and there are various activities available particularly for families with children. We had a few problems one being there was no walk in shower and it needed much agility to get in to a badly designed shower in the bath. But after talking to the General Manager Dermot Birchall we were assured that they are replacing showers in all the rooms to walk in showers starting from April 2020. We also found the room temperature to be cold and as it is fixed we were unable to change it. Again this is being addressed going forward. I can't praise the staff in the hotel highly enough. They went out of their way to help with any problem. Moureen in the Mydan restaurant was an absolute delight and would cheer up anyone's day. The staff in the Deck were always so helpful and friendly. It would be good if they offered short boat trips from the hotel at sunset at a reasonable price and dolphin watching trips. The day trips organised by the hotel are very expensive and we found a local driver who was able to take us out at a fraction of the hotel prices. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the highlight for us was the staff who went out of their way to ensure that we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

The Millennium Resort Mussannah has been one of our favourite places just because it offers so much in terms of relaxation and activities that it truly becomes a cherished staycation.
That being said our trip this time around did not quite live up to the hype. Hotels around Muscat have opened up with government induced restrictions in place and the Millennium Resort is no different. On arrival there is a temperature scanning machine at the entrance, unfortunately nobody was there manning it and we seen a lot of guests just walk past it without being screened. There is a desk on the side which said Sanitize Luggage here, again nobody to help on the same and nothing was sanitized.
Check-in to the rooms was quick as usual and we were kindly escorted with our bags to our room which was pre-sanitized as per the notice on the door. The rooms are nice and airy with a beautiful view of the ocean.
The dinner service was efficient but probably just above average compared to our previous visits. The one thing that really put us off in the dining room was the careless attitude of in-house guests who casually strolled around without masks and more so even allowing little kids to run in the service area and touching food with their hands and messing it up. It would be better in the current scenario to restrict kids at the serving tables ,just restrict it to adults and maintain decorum in terms of wearing masks and maintaining a reasonable distance instead of crowding the place.
The room inhouse amenities left us disappointed as the television was not working for the entire 2 nights due to some unknown reason and the bar fridge not cooling enough to even chill a regular bottle of water. The pools were probably the saving grace during our stay, clean with a lifeguard around. The Aquafun service is available for a charge if one so wishes.
It's important that we support the hotels in getting back to normalcy after the catastrophic 5month break, however its everyone's responsibility to ensure the safety of your family as well as those around you. For this reason alone Millenium Resort needs to step it up to ensure that their guests have the best possible experience especially in these trying times. I am sure with the team they have on board they can do a lot more...

We took a 2 bedroom apartment, it was specious and clean.. with sea views and balconies at the sitting area and master bedroom..
The Kitchen has s well equipped, bonus a coffee maker machine, stove, microwave, fridge and large freezer .
The property took extra percussions for Covid19 protection. I was informed that the room is not allowed to be occupied after one customer until after two days and it gets proper sanitization.
Room service is offered with eco friendly disposables.
The beach and the outdoor is beautiful.

Fortunately we went for the All Inclusive package (found a special on the Millennium site) for the same as we booked the breakfast only option on Travelocity. The All Inclusive included transport to/from airport (50 OMR value each direction) plus all meals including alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks. Without the All-Inclusive, it would be costly to eat/drink at the resort. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom apartment, which was comfortable for a family of four. The beach was nice with calm water. We played mini golf on site daily and they had three different pools (including one completely in the shade). Overall, it was a relaxing place to stay, but I would definitely recommend the All-Inclusive option.

Fantastic!
Me and my husband (who visited me in Oman) stayed here for 4days 3nights. We took their All in Inclusive package with free buffet breakfast and buffet dinner (inclusive of free access to all their facilities, zipline, yes you read that! They have zipline;, aquafun).
Upon doing our check in, we asked if they offer anyThing for New Year; unsurprisingly they do! So me and my husband decided to grab their unlimited drinks (both alcoholic and non) from 11pm-2am for 50omr both (25omr per head). And we didnt regret it; ohh the party vibe, the band, the people, everything will make you feel that you’re not away from your home.
Hotel also offers a lot of water activities, diving, name it. We tried the double kayaking for 30mins (5omr) which is not bad for first timers like us.
Their food? International breakfast buffet were being served everyday but for dinner its a themed one, so you’ll taste different cuisines every night but mind you during dinner they will charge you for water or any drinks.
Overall, we did enjoy and had lots of fun during our stay. It was one of our best trip.

Tip: if you are first timer for any water sports or not a casual goer to beach in particular, do the Aquafun maybe on your last day there, because that’s where my body pain started.

8 of us stayed here at the weekend and had booked 4 separate double rooms, we were then upgraded into the villas near the end allowing us to all stay together. We were treated extremely well at the reception by Mr Sameeh.

Plenty of activites to do and very good for the money as other resorts with as much such as Shangri LA etc is 3 or 4 times the price but it is closet to Muscat.

There is a shisha bar, pool bar, restaurants, stage, beach, pool and adults only pool with a childrens area and pool on the other side. There is also a zip line and large mini golf section as well as a relaxing garden area with beanbags and a fantastic obstacle course.

We all will definetely come back and celebrate many more birthdays and recommend this place to everyone.

Staff Interaction

Due to the restrictions at the moment we phoned in advance (we had free cancellation) to see if we would be able to dine in room with the All-Inclusive as all Commercial outlets would close at 8pm. We were assured this was the case therefore we decided to keep our booking rather than cancel and return another day.

Check In

When we pulled up with our car we were asked if we wanted a trolley for our luggage and this was great. As we waited in the queue to be served at reception your staff allowed people to skip in front of those who were queueing without comment. Not only was this rude and showed poor people skills from the staff it was also extremely dangerous as no social distancing took place as people barged by each other. This could easily be rectified with barriers or queueing ropes. The girl as reception took us through what was needed and when we asked who we called for dinner in room we were looked at strangely. The girl knew nothing of this and confirmed our phone numbers as she said she would need to find out and call us and let us know. Fine. But no phone call arrived that day therefore dinner that evening never happened in the room as we were told would be the case. The girl did phone the following day to confirm dine in dinner that evening but by this point we had lost interest as so much was going wrong. When we got to the room I requested an ash tray from the concierge who never arrived with it.

Check Out

No one asked how our stay was. And none of the (4 of them) staff at the door helped my (pregnant) wife with our 5 bags as I got the car from parking. Unacceptable.

Hotel Amenities

Fairly decent. Pool area is fine. Plenty space. More suited to families and kids than couples.

Guest Room

Not clean. Hairs all over the toilet. TV did not work and neither did internet which was a problem considering we had to be in our rooms at 8pm.

Positive : Azure staff

To be honest allowing a pregnant woman to carry multiple bags when there are 4 members of staff at the door is unacceptable. I'm not surprised no-one asks how the stay was as it would probably be negative.
In addition to what was written earlier when we were at breakfast in the buffet restaurant there had to have been at least 50 people crowded around the fare. Again, this would have been sorted by some ropes or barriers or some form of one way system. It really was shameful. Needless to say I never attended breakfast on the second day.

This was our second visit. Last time, we had stayed one night in a superior room but we were left wanting for more! This time, we stayed 2 nights on 30th and 31st on a great deal for a 2 bedroom duplex apartment, all inclusive! Breakfast was a sumptuous variety. We had options to dine at any of their three restaurants, buffet or a la carte and enjoy the ambience of outdoor and indoor dining. We enjoyed the mini-golf, lawn tennis, water park, kayaking and swimming with walks by the sea at sunrise. They had also arranged a music band in the pool area for 31st night which we did not attend.
Although we felt that the newness of the rooms had worn out in the past 2 years, yet we found everything clean and cosy. Room service and housekeeping was impeccable. Overall, it was a great break for us from the monotony of staying at home for months due to covid.

We had a fabulous 10 night stay at Barcelo Mussanah Resort. The weather was ideal at 32-34 degrees celsius with a gentle sea breeze. The hotel is secluded so suited to those who prefer the total getaway. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. Darren Suttie (Director of Food & Beverage) – a bonnie Scotsman and his team of restaurant and bar staff were fabulous and accommodating in particular Frances at the Mydan Restaurant and also Eddie at the pool bar. Our favourite themed dinners were oriental – the sushi was scrumptious/good quality and seafood which was varied – fish curry, grilled prawns and stewed mussels. A special thanks to Darren for showing the Arsenal games during our stay, our 14 year old son was most happy. The water sports team were also great – the sofa ride was certainly hilarating! Something to note - due to local laws there is an age restriction at the pool and Compass bars of 21 years & over after 8 pm. However, those under the age of 21 years (including kids) are able to sit outside the pool bar area. The Azure Restaurant is worth a visit, for fully inclusive guests the restaurant offers a 20% discount. The discount also extends to spa treatments. My husband who is usually apprehensive of spa treatments found the deep tissue massage thoroughly relaxing – the spa does have a male therapist.

Our minor annoyances were the inconsistent level of housekeeping service – some days we would have sufficient supply of towels etc, other days items were missing hand towels and bath mat and on one occasion no towels at all. On the day of our arrival we requested an iron & ironing board and hairdryer and waited 3 hours despite 2 reminder calls. The management should address the above.

During our stay we visited Wadi Shab booked via the tour desk at the hotel (private full day tour so is quite expensive). It is certainly worth a visit – one of the top highlights of Oman but not for the faint hearted. The hike to the upper pools include climbing over boulders and 150 metres swim to the cave. Our tour also included stops at Bimmah Sinkhole (for a swim) and Wadi Dayqah Dam (wonderful views). Our guide/driver Hamood with his wealth of knowledge of Oman and his easy come easy go attitude was refreshing. The hotel kindly provided us with a packed lunch (no cost for fully inclusive guests).

We would certainly return to the hotel in the future and consider a Barcelo property elsewhere.

We are always staying at Millenium Mussanah because the staffs are very accommodating. The breakfast is good and the facilities are nice.

However, the zipline is not working during our last visit.

I have changed my bed preference several times but all has been confirmed by the staff. We have booked 2 rooms and one room was upgraded to sea view room from delux room.

I also requested for a room in either 4th or 5th floor which was also confirmed by email but we were informed upon checking-in that the 3rd to 5th floors are closed.
