Beautiful resort on a sublime white sand beach. Slow WiFi. Good air con. Very well cared for and maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They arrange snorkeling trip to pigeon island. Worth the effort. Nice restaurant with western choices too.
I think this hotel has suffered from the lack of customer between covid and economical crisis in Sri Lanka. it needs a refreshment. Rooms are confortable and very clean. The resort is cute and in the middle of nature. However, lots of things a broken (wood renovation to do for some bungalows) and the restaurant is not very enjoyable ! it would be better to have an open restaurant rather than a closed one with strange and dated decoration. staff is lovely and helpful. food at the restaurant is good! bed is confortable bathroom is clean. We were the only guests which makes it a bit weird but I really think the hotel needs renovation 🙂 I think it’s too expensive compare to other hotels around. This was the most expensive hotel of our trip but we don’t understand why.
Such a perfect location; a barefoot resort on the beach. A real treat and something quiet special. All the staff were excellent and the resorts location is just perfect. You do need to take tuk-tuk's if you want a visit another restaurant for a change of scenery due to its quiet location, it is too far to walk. The food was lovely, although I would say that the service is a little too slow at times. Overall, I would recommend on the location and staff themselves, so helpful and friendly.
Great place with friendly and professional staff. The sea is calm and safe to swim, no big waves or currents. The food was excellent, as well as our room. There is also a nice pool. It has a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, you can take a walk along the beach at dusk or just sit there and watch the local fishermen in their daily work.
Spent 12 nights at the Nilaveli beach hotel during the period of Sri Lankan lockdown, therefore was confined to the hotel. Due to the pandemic, the hotel is working with a short number of staff and not all facilities are available. From check in to departure I cannot speak more highly of the staff - very professional, extremely polite and hospitable, they made it a great stay. This is not a 5 star hotel and doesn't try to be one but the location, rooms, food and service is definitely superb. The manager, Etty, was working remotely from Colombo but always on hand to provide support and advice; Sen, the assistant manager did a fantastic job managing his small staff and is a very polite and well spoken guy; my room was always looked after by Dilshan who made sure the room was spotless; I had some great food cooked by Prajeeth ,supported by Mukunthan (big thanks for the fish night) and both Hussair and Nasik maintained the hotel beach area very well, even in windy conditions. Overall, I recommend this place highly and can imagine it would be even better in non-COVID times. You will read reports of dogs and crows and yes that is correct but they don't bother you and it is how it is in Sri Lanka whether it is here or 5 star places in Negombo. I for sure will visit again some day. Only negative would be wifi connectivity could be improved across the place but apart from that it was great.…
The hotel is at the beach. Passing the pool you stand at the beach with a large sandy area. The room was perfectly clean. As we were the only customers we used the opportunity for a lot of communication with Sen. Also we hat the privilege to set the menu together with the cook. Extraordinary fish dishes were the result. We used to dive with Ypsilon Divers (Roy, +49 77 952 4556), about 1,5K south at the beach. Transport to an from the center is arranged by diving school. Funny and good dives around Pigeon Island. Also snorkelling with sharks. Both are highly recommended.
This is a lovely hotel. Makes you feel at home with amazing and super service! Loved the stay there! Unlike other beach front properties this is amazingly shady with the lovely trees. So you hardly feel the sun. But if you want the sun, the beach is just a few mins away... Loved the food specially the crab curry!
I work in Sri Lanka but have been unable to return to UK for the summer due to Covid19. A break was in order and the east coast is perfect at this time of year. Nilaveli Beach Resort fitted the bill - fantastic location, idyllic beach, great food, king coconuts straight from the tree and as we were the only guests, we had the pool to ourselves! Sen, Wasantha and the team took wonderful care of us and wish them all the best as this beautiful island hopefully reopens to visitors. Thank you and good luck for the future!
Our stay at this hotel was magical. The beach was beautiful, as we expected. But the level of service was beyond our expectations. The staff was welcoming, cheerful, efficient and made us feel like family. As an example of the generosity, the manager saw us waiting in the lobby for a tuk tuk to the train station after check out. He immediately ordered sandwiches and bottled water as a gift for us to take on our 12-hour train ride. We can’t wait to come back!
We stayed here for 6 wonderful nights. It was perfect in every way. The room was large and had a really comfy bed. Tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar. The restaurant offers a great selection of dishes and we were spoilt for choice even though we had breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The pool is very clean if you want an alternative to the sea for a swim. The beach is clean and safe and the sea is so warm. Etty has trained all her staff to a very high standard in all areas and everyone was so friendly. They also have a great beverage menu at very reasonable prices. Their cocktails are so cheap and they bring them to your sunbed on the beach. We would definitely recommend you stay here if you visit Nilaveli. We would alsol recommend going on an evening lagoon boat tour which is only just up the road. Cost just 5000 rupees for both of us. It's the second time we have done this tour and it's beautiful and very interesting.…
