We have stopped off at The Red Lion at The Peak Edge Hotel a couple of times now, on our way home from the south. Each time has impressed us so much, that I have reserved a room for the night next time we travel. It is in lovely grounds. A lovely looking bar restaurant and hotel. I honestly cant fault the decor and layout. It was great to sit outside too, just so relaxing. A good choice of lagers. It was early afternoon, so I just opted for a beef sandwich - wow! So tasty and perfectly cooked - I would say medium rare. Great quality (unlike some sandwiches were you get the last bits that are not good enough to plate!) I cant wait to try a meal there.

Lovely staff - smart and welcoming. The views from and around this hotel are amazing. The hotel itself is pretty on the outside and quaint inside. The bar area had a strong ingrained open fire smell which we personally found too over powering, so chose to have drinks outside on the lovely terrace. Our room was lovely - probably one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in. A comfy bed and beautifully decorated and cosy but plenty of room. It was very clean and had fresh milk in the fridge and teas/coffee. So far, 5/5. The restaurant is laid out perfectly. Lovely views and comfortable. The menu is very limited which surprised us considering the standard of the establishment, and on the two nights we stayed, the mains had only 2 minor changes and desserts were the same. We were very disappointed with the quality of the food although it was hot and served in good time. The roast sirloin of beef that 'chef likes to serve pink' was more like a carpaccio of beef. Not liking fish, meant that options were then limited for an alternative, so whilst I did say, when asked, that the beef was too under done, I chose to eat the rest of the dish and leave the beef although my husband ate some. The breakfast was also a disappointment. The bacon was very dry and the scrambled egg looked like a turned over omelette, not light and fluffy as hoped. The pancake stack was forgettable a complete let down and not worth being counted as an equivalent to a full english or eggs bendict. No stars for presentation either. We loved this place but the food just didn't match the rest of the experience, so for that reason only, we would not return.

We had gone to the Peak Edge Hotel in 2020 during the pandemic and the period during which we were allowed to move about. It was a strange time and we wondered whether what we experienced was represative. The hotel's location is fantastic both from a viewpoint of the immediate surroundings and accessibility (by car) to the Peak District. There is a clear approach to staff training based upon the experience of checking in and departure which is then consistent with the bar/restaurant. The room quality is good - large/couple bath, large very comfy bed. Plenty of space. All of the facilities one would expect - very nice to have milk in the fridge to have tea or coffee! We ate at the restaurant - the Red Lion - the menu I initially thought was disappointing/limited, however, the food was truly excellent. The breakfast was also outstanding. This is a lovely hotel in a lovely location with attentive staff. I dont think you can ask for more than this.

We take on board every single piece of feedback as it is our guests opinion that drives our improvement in many instances. We are experiencing an unprecedented time in the hospitality industry, where many skilled an experienced workers have left the industry during the pandemic. This has paved the way for fresh, young workers who may at times not be sure how to deal with certain situations, however this will come with time and experience. We stayed here for our 35th wedding anniversary and were so happy with our stay that we stayed on for an extra night. The staff are all wonderful: welcoming, kind and offering excellent service. The room was extremely comfortable- great bed - and well furnished. Safe, dressing room, 2 full length mirrors 👍, even some gluten free cookies! There wasn’t a hairdryer and the lighting was pretty dull in the bathroom but there was a mirror over the desk near a window in the room for doing makeup. The restaurant was really excellent. The food, service and wine choice was really good. We are in the restaurant all 3 nights as the food was so good - modern cuisine using local products. Breakfast equally good. We are both gluten intolerant and there was always gluten free bread/toast. Well done. In our native France this is rare. It is so nice to stay in a privately owned hotel that cares about it customers and pay s attention to detail. The hotel even smells beautiful. Well done and thank you. If we are back in the area we would défi stay here again.

Lovely hotel and really friendly and pleasant staff. Would definitely stay again. Only issue was the bar was a little overpriced and the breakfast despite being really nice was quite small and the beans were cold. Catering for gluten free was excellent as my girlfriend is celiac. Look forward to staying again.

What a perfect way to finish my wife's 50th birthday celebrations. This was our 3rd stay at Peak Edge and it seems to get better each time we go. The reception staff are great and the rooms are gorgeous and they even cater for our four legged friends, our pet dog Bella is by the far the most popular member of our family! We had our evening meal in the Red Lion restaurant and the fabulous team, lead by Chole with Allison, Kenan, Ben, Evie and Lucy W ensured we had the perfect end to my wife's birthday, the food and wine was delicious and they even brought out a special birthday dessert! If you've never been to Peak Edge I suggest you make a visit with the warmth and crackle of an open fire and the sun trap on the garden terrace its the perfect place to relax and enjoy! We hope to come back soon. Thank you, best regards Mr Joyce.

I honestly don’t know where to start, I am so glad we chose this venue for our wedding day! I can’t thank all the staff enough for everything they did to make our day so special- nothing was too much trouble, they worked so hard all day long and each and everyone are a credit to the hotel and restaurant! Our wedding planner Francine was outstanding- very professional, made sure every detail was covered and in place for us, even stayed later the night before when I arrived to run through final details. I’d also like to thank Tim and Gareth for all there efforts during the day. As for the stay, I stayed in the Devonshire suite the night before, the room is stunning, it was clean and spacious (plenty of space for 7 adults getting ready and a 2 month old baby) the lighting from the large balcony windows made it easy for makeup. The beds was so comfortable and the bathroom was luxurious! Night of my wedding I stayed in the Chatsworth suite, I’d also like to point out that all my belongings was moved during the day for me by hotel staff, they was so organised. But the room was breathtaking with gorgeous views. They provided travel cots for myself with a baby and relatives that also had children. Everything was just perfection! The food - wow the food! I was so impressed by the quality of the meals, I booked into the Red Lion the night before, service was prompt and they provided our deserts to take up to the room upon request, like I said nothing was too much trouble! I had the pleasure of having breakfast twice- I love how you can adjust the Full English to your preferences and on the wedding day morning the chef put our order in first so we could get back to the room and continue getting ready - no hold ups or waiting around. The wedding breakfast was delicious and all my guests commented on how tasty it was. We had gluten free and vegetarian guests too that was very impressed to be catered for. Thankyou to all the kitchen staff for the amazing presentation and attention to detail of all food served. Overall, simply the best and if your considering booking your special day here- DO IT - you will not be disappointed. Me and my now husband are already looking forward to spending our anniversaries and special occasions here each year! I will recommend to everyone! A thousand times thankyou!
