We stayed for one night, so we could be closer to TRF airport. Hotel is about 20 minutes walking to city center (a bit too much for us, but ok in the end). Room was very small, but clean. We have found a bit strange the higher bed. The space under it was meant for luggage storage. Even if the idea might seem great, it only made the room even smaller. But for one night was ok, having in mind also the convenient price. We have apprecited the small sofa by the bed, which had a normal bed hight. We could have used more English Tv channels. Bathroom was also very small, all was scandinavian white decorated with a shower which had good presure. We did not take breakfast, due to the early flight; this was not included in the room price. The lady at the reception recommanded tea or coffee in the lobby, which I understood was complimentary. We found this a nice touch, but haven't try it. We took the chance to use the pool on the nearby activity center. This was free for hotel guests. Even though not big, pool was ok, clean and had arears dedicted for kids as well.…

I liked this hotel. It is very competitively priced and it really has everything you need. But it is a stroll and a half to walk into town and back. There is a bus...I sometimes walked and sometimes took the bus. -It is just on the cusp of being too far to bother walking. I loved the staff, they were all wonderful. And although there isn't a minibar, you can get a beer anytime you like in the reception. The rooms are quite small, (wich didn't bother me at all...they were nice &clean)...the only thing is the outlying location. -But remember the Much Better Price !!

So this is a hotel at the budget end of the market, it is of the typical smaller Norwegian type, clean no frills bedroom with just what you need, the shower room is a bit on the small side but the bedroom is bigger than others of its type. Breakfast is good quality and has hot and cold buffet to choose from. You get free access to the pool complex next door but the hotel itself does not have any leisure facilities. The pool complex is clean and tidy but quite busy and noisy with lots of children when it is open which is not all day just short hours so if this is important then best check. I had a good nights sleep with no disturbance which to me is the most important aspect of any hotel.

We visited this place twice, and though you don`t get free access to the swimming pool next door any longer ( you get 50% which is 6 EUR) this is still a place to be re commended, to make it short: - price - standard - friendliness - "cleanliness" - location (walking distance to Tønsberg brygge (waterfront) and Tønsberg is the capital of Vestfold Fylke (county) which is an interisting area for tourists. That was the short version. To make some kind of criticism, the front/facade rooms are a little hot if the temp goes beyond 25 degrees centigrade, which is not a big problem in this part of the world. We will have that in mind next time we make a booking :)

We went there for a family weekend, it was a gift as our kids love to swim and the entrance at the pool/swimming hall next door is included. We will review the activity park and the hotel under one, as we booked it as a package. The swimming facilities are a little bit aged and two of the three water slides were closed. We were not informed of that in advance, even if we booked a “weekend at the badeland”. That was quite disappointing- as the “badeland” basically was one pool and a hot tub without the slides. There is also a sauna and a Turkish bath, that is available for people >16 years. We spent about 2 hours in the swimming hall before it became boring. The next day we went first to the gym (nicely equipped) while the kids played in the family park. It is a very nice indoor-playground, that has an area with video games as well; a table where the kids can paint and so on. The family park is really nice and our kids were entertained for quite some time. There is lots to do in Tønsberg so it was not too much of a spoiler for us that the badeland was a little bit less entertaining than anticipated. We went to the movies, there is a bowling hall and so on- but you would need a car to get there from the hotel. The hotel is very well kept and very clean, even if it is a little bit aged. The breakfast was sufficient, nothing out of the ordinary and nothing to complain about. They have a separate play-room next to the dining area, really perfect for families. We shared the room with the kids, who slept on the couch. It was an ordinary double room, so it was not very spacious, but we absolutely did not need more space for the stay. The beds and pillows were comfy and we had a good night of sleep. The staff was friendly and provided a lot of information in advance (unfortunately not that the slides were closed, it seems that they don’t feel really responsible for the pool-part even if we booked it as a package. Manager should be better in coordinating and making staff aware!) The area where the hotel is located is not so nice, but you can easily walk over to Tønsberg or take the car over. Conclusion: it is a great choice for families- and if you don’t expect too much of a luxury. …

I checked in at 12 pm and checked out at 5 am, due to my working hours. It was not a problem for this hotel. Friendly staff, and a good To Go breakfast. The room was small, but so was the price, right?

Ok hotel with varying standards. Some rooms are incredible bad, some recruiters worn, and some rooms are completely redecorated and very nice. Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor. They are the ones that are newly renovated. My two children and I arrived there in May, and the room we got was absolutely terrible and smelled of cigarettes - although this was not a smoking room. We told the staff, and they were very sorry, and helpful - and moved us up to a newly renovated room. This was delicate, nice and clean, with good beds. The hotel has no restaurant where you can order dinner (only breakfast). You must therefore rely on eating in Tønsberg city. The surroundings of the hotel are really not good. It’s situated in some sort of an industrial area. But Tønsberg is not far, so you can either drive, walk or take the bike for better views. The water park is located about 30 meters away from the hotel and we could swim as much as we wanted. It was absolutely fantastic for the kids. If you have kids who love swimming and you want to see Tønsberg on a fairly low budget, this is an ok hotel for you.…

Dear guest, thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry about the smell of cigarettes, this is not normal in our hotel. I'm glad to hear that you got a different room and that you liked our new rooms. This winter we will continue to modernize many of the original rooms. So if you like modern style, ask for a new room as you say. We also have many guests that prefers the original rooms with the maritime inspired theme, so it will still be possible to stay in those as well. Welcome back next time. Kind Regards Nils S Wilhelmsen

The breakfast is very basic and I have to ask for warm milk and the scrambled eggs it's look like something else. Really bad. The bed is old and with a roll in the middle. The shower is too small and not comfortable at all. From the window the view of trash in the back of the building. Bad experience.

Dear guest. Thank you for the feedback. This is actually the first time I have heard of someone wanting warm milk. I hope and expect that our staff helped you with that. Different guests like different scrambled eggs. We receive lots of compliments for our breakfast, including the eggs, so I am sorry to hear that you where not satisfied. If you would take your time to contact me at nils@activehotel.no or +47 418 50 418, I would love to hear more about your opinion. Now we are almost finished with painting the building, so hopefully you will have a cleaner view the next time if you come back. And if you do come back, let me know. I will make sure that you get a room with a new bed. We have switched out many, and we are still working on switching out the rest. I also want't to remind you that we have a water park that is included in the room price, so we like to think that this makes up for some of the smaller bathrooms. I hope to hear from you again. Kind Regards Nils S Wilhelmsen

My 5 * are because you get what you pay for. As previously review has stated, the rooms and bathrooms are small. None of the rooms have a nice view. My room had everything it needed and was probably newly decorated. A bed with clean white linnen, A TV, free internet with good connection, room to hang my clothes and a clean bathroom. Breakfast cost 60 NOK, and there the same: You get what you pay for. If you want to eat breakfast in town, its double the price! The best thing for me was the possibility to exercise at the gym just opposite. Very nice and large gym and fitness with all kind of group exercise including crossfit similar exercise. They even have swimming pool and sauna, so if you think the bathroom is too small, why not get in there for a steam and a shower? The walk into the town center is a nice walk over a bridge and water and takes about 10-20 min depending on your pace. There are restaurants at 10 minutes slow walk on the Nøtterøy side where thera is a shop aswell. No shops on site at the hotel. Free parking, which in town is between 100 and 300NOK/night! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. 24h open. I booked by room on Active hotels webpage and the price was cheaper than on tripadvisor. I work from time to time in Tønsberg, and I will come back and stay! Recommend++++++++++…
