We stayed two nights in this quiet, bucolic, rural spot. It was absolutely wonderful. Very clean, quiet, and restful.
Fantastic dinner of potato and leek soup, lamb shank with mashed potatoes and carrot purée, and apple cake with whipped cream…totally delicious. Great breakfast as well with a generous buffet, all perfectly laid out…very tasty bacon and scrumptious scrambled eggs.
Free, easy, safe parking.
Very comfy beds with great linens and towels.
You just have to love a place with an actual room key on a big wooden fob, a quiet lil library, and a cozy lobby furnished in white wicker and tons of perfectly creased pillows. There’s even a child sized lil wicker chair with a soft sheepskin.
A very detail oriented place, very pastoral and soothing.
So if you want to do a lot of stuff in nearby Geiringer, make the drive to Norddal and stay in this hideaway.

Everything you expect from a stay by the fjord is fulfilled at Petrines. Beautiful scenery, delightful interiors, tasteful food and welcoming staff. Comfortable beds and very quiet surroundings. This is a perfect stay-over especially if you don’t want to do both Trollstigen and the Eagle Road in one day (which in my opinion is too much). There’s also a small beach, just a few minutes walk across the road, where we had a swim and went paddleboarding. We will return, for sure!

Petrines Gjestgiveri, Norddal

We recently stayed in the delightful Petrine's Guesthouse in the tiny fjord village of Norddal, More og Romsdal. Absolutely first-rate dining featuring local produce amid charming surroundings. The town has a lovely old church, idyllic scenery and none of the troll kitsch of Geiranger. A vist to the nearby summer pasture of Heraldsettra (spelling?) is a must -- full of goats, fjord ponies, sheep. Good hiking country.

Norddal is a couple of miles from Eidsdal, where you catch the ferry to Linge.

A world away from the big touris hotels, with a great personal welcome, and wonderful food, yet conveniently located only a few kilometres off the route north from Geiranger.

This is the hotel for those who like to have an extra experience! It gives you all your need if you are not looking for the most flashy places and big towns or the tourist traps. We went to see Geiranger. Nice! Very nice! But all the hotels were full and we felt a little disappointed.....But then, we got the information that Petrines was not far away. Only 20 minutes by car. And that it was an option... Well. It really is. Nice rooms. Very nice Food. Personal touch. And the fjord and the Mountains are still there. I would really have gone to Geiranger. And even to Tafjord. Trollstigen is not far away. But then....stayed at Petrines!

My wife and I spent two nights at Petrines Gjestgiveri in early June. The scenery, people and hospitality were terrific!! The food was outstanding. I highly recommend a stay at Petrines and don't miss the walks around Nordal.

Wonderful Norddalen is one of Norway's most beautiful places.
In the middle of the valley you will find Petrines Gjestgiveri. A historic hotel with the best of service. Great rooms, splendid service and the best food we have ever tasted in Norway.
Highly recommented!

Behind the beautiful hotel at the great location there is a plain field with the regular norwegian caravans with their hideous annexes, but that does not matter: the showers and toilets are very clean, the field is perfect and the walk to the water is just a couple of minutes - perfect break !

Especially for the dinner. I have to say that we were extremely dissatisfied with the 3 course menu, for which we paid more than 40€ per person (400nok). The first course was an appetizer with some tiny portions of the village's specialities (which we also found on next day's breakfast). Main course was a well cooked fish with vegetables, nothing special, a little tasteless but good, and finally some apple pie which was decent enough.

The wrong thing about it all was the amount of food, it was half a portion, literally! Even more painful for me because we were on a long journey and wanted to have a nice dinner to recover strenght and I recomended this place (normally we cooked our own food). We thought it would be worth the price for a special day... but it definitely wasn't and all my family was hungry afterwards. Shame on me.

Wonderful hotel in a very peaceful valley. The food is excellent and the service feels like being with friends.
The valley is a very natural environment, with beautiful waterfalls, rivers, mountains and endless forrests.
Great place for a longer stay.
