Had a wonderful time during our stay at Treebones. My husband and I stayed in yurt #8 overlooking the ocean. It was a wonderful view and short walk to the restrooms and main lodge for breakfast, dinner, pool/spa, etc. To our surprise, there was a "treehouse" unit that was available for booking, but this is not listed on the website. This unit looked to have the best sunset view, and we definitely would have inquired about it if we were notified that it was a possibility through the resort website, etc. The grounds were beautiful. We were constantly surrounded by local wildlife of hummingbirds, rabbits, sometimes deer. The room was adequately equipped with a sink, which was where drinking water would come from, and a heater that warmed the space up quickly during nighttime. The heater was not needed during the day as the sun raised the temperature inside the yurt. This was during the month of June. Towels were provided in the rooms, and you could request more towels for the pool/spa at the front desk. A list of recommended hikes was given upon check in, which was appreciated. We did most of those hikes and they were all great. We also participated in the yoga classes in the mornings. The yoga space and teachers were great. The only thing that was surprising was that the evening yoga classes were not being put on, but those classes are still advertised on the resort website and in the welcome email upon booking our stay. That was disappointing. All in all, look forward to staying there again if the chance arises!…
The views and grounds are stunning. The Autonomous Tent was well appointed inside and outside on the deck. Having the inside fireplace and outside fire pit added to the warmth and ambiance. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was scrumptious food and excellent coffee. We had dinner in the lodge two nights --- YUUUUUUUMMMM. On a particularly glorious sunny day we enjoyed the pool area. We were delighted by all the up close encounters with the fauna and the beauty of the flora.
What a magical place in Big Sur! We spent 3 amazing days at Treebones in the Treehouse and are already planning our next stay. Absolutely an epic experience. Food was delicious (lots of GF options!), the staff friendly and helpful and the other guests were awesome! We hiked, hung by the pool, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Big Sur. We absolutely love this place!!!
Unbelievable! We will be back. Every single thing was fantastic. Staff were amazing, yurts were clean and felt luxurious and the food was delicious. We truly loved this experience. Sand dollar beach was stunning. Be sure to get instructions on the venting of the done for temp control. So so good. All of it.
Best camping trip ever! First night had an awesome three course dinner with champagne while overlooking the ocean, hearing the elephant seals and seeing a deer family on the premises of Treebones Resort. The resort offers a wonderful staff, breakfast daily, great clean food (most of which are grown at the resort), yoga, hiking close by, and the wonderful sights and sounds of nature ( variety of birds, butterflies, deer, rabbits, ground squirrels, elephant seals on the beach below, and more). We hiked at the salmon waterfall trails about 8 miles south of the resort and had a fun day at the Hearst Castle on the way back home, also stopped in Cambria for Mediterranean. If you wanna see a starry night, best place ever for that! Great trip overall!
We just stayed in the Nest and experienced perfect weather in June (with the usual windy session around 2-4pm). The view from the tent-area of the Nest was wonderful and the whole site was clean upon our arrival - equipped with a picnic table, small storage area, and trash bin. *The Nest site - tent area is slightly slanted, so be prepared to bring whatever you may require to sleep comfortably. The whole staff was knowledgable, kind and helpful. We enjoyed visiting the Redwood Grove for a shady walk and Willow Creek State Beach and Sand Dollar Beach, and watching the sunset from the Nest. Restroom amenities were super clean and the restaurant was delicious! Can't wait to return.
perfect get away...from the yurt to the parking to the yoga..breakfast was perfect...dinner too.. Sand Dollar beach was amazing. staff to friendly down to the most comfortable bed ever thanks for great 2 night
I’ll give my true rating as a 3.65. I stayed in the Twig Hut - though extremely cute, and a true feat of art and engineering worth witnessing, I deeply regretted that choice the first night I was there. It was the worst wind I’d ever experienced, and kept me up into the early hours of the morning. Though I did bring a tent, I knew it would be just as miserable to hear the fly flapping all night, so I fashioned a tarp-like poncho that I’d brought to the “walls” (branches) of the north side. It lessened the impact of the wind a little, though I had to refasten it a couple of times throughout the night. I was miserable and exhausted enough that I was considering leaving after the first night, but my reservation at Wild Coast Sushi made me stick it out. Ultimately, I’m so glad I did. Both the sushi and the Lodge restaurant was some of the most perfect food I’d ever had. Wild Coast was the best sushi experience of my life by a mile (*absolutely* worth the $200). All the food is local, mindfully paired, artistically served, and cooked to perfection to bring out the natural strengths of each ingredient. I’m drooling now thinking about it! My second night was so much more peaceful - just a gentle breeze throughout the night. Between my blanket and 0 degree sleeping bag, I was quite cozy and felt like the weird, giant bird I’ve always wanted to be.…
My partner and I had an amazing time here. We only stayed for one night (which you can only do if there is only one night available in a series on the calendar) but it definitely made us want to come back. The yurts themselves were just AMAZING. We stayed in a queensize yurt that was the comfiest, softest bed I've ever laid on. I usually prefer a more firmer mattress when I sleep, but this was definitely a win for people who love cloud-like beds and for others, you can at least definitely appreciate the comfort of it. The yurt itself was soo big, it had two seating areas along with the bed and a personal sink. The bathrooms are shared, right near the check-in and dining building, but they were so nice and well-maintained! Each yurt had its own personal balcony, looking out into the ocean. The resort had its own organic garden as well, and the free breakfast made from the garden was so tasty and real easy on the stomach. There's very limited internet service, so I advise really immersing yourself into the technological disconnection. It was so peaceful and serene. Definitely recommend for folx looking to get away to soothe work or life burnout and/or wanting to get closer and more in touch with nature.…
It’s a lovely setting. The bunnies. The chipmunks. The birds. The sea and the sound of sea lions are a delight, but make no mistake if the wind is blowing on that hillside when you go to bed, you are going to have one very poor night’s sleep. It’s loud, really loud, even with ear plugs. We left after one night of our three night reservation, because we didn’t want the torture of one more sleepless there.
