Stayed in cabin 30 towards the back corner of the property, surrounded by redwood trees. Was able to fit my family of 5 with no problems. Kitchen was workable though bathroom could use a little updating. Can't beat the location; follow the trail a couple hundred yards right into the park with short drives to a couple beaches, the lighthouse,... More

Friendly staff, good local brews, great food at the restaurant, nice, clean room. It's in a fantastic location right in the middle of Big Sur. If you're looking for down to earth, high quality lodging, look no further.

We stayed in cabin 29 and loved it! We were right next to a pasture, surrounded by mountains, and saw deer frolicking through the brush and prairie dogs scattering about. The Big Sur river runs right through the campground, which the kids loved. The water was a little cold but crystal clear and kneed deep. The kids had a blast... More

My husband and I camped at campsite 54 for a night. When we got there we were able to buy firewood and had a nice size campground. We were right by the Big Sur river. Hotels were very expensive in Big Sure but camping was such a great and economical way to stay in the area. Fernwood was very reasonable.... More

First, let's keep it in perspective. Big Sur is for camping, hiking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. You're not going to find a Hilton or Holiday Inn. If you need all that, just stay in Carmel By The Sea and do a day trip. Fernwood Resort is mainly a campground for small RV's and tents. We stayed... More

My sister, best friend and I decided to go to Big Sur for a night on a whim since we all had a week off within the same time frame. We called Fernwood to see what was available and the woman on the phone said #53 is the best spot in the house for $60/night. It definitely was! We were... More

We stopped at the Fernwood last week on our way to Carmel after a day of driving. The roads were getting very dark, and for a first time drive in the mountains of PCH 1, it was a well received find. The staff was friendly, the food better than expected, great pizza, and drinks, and a comfortable bed. I almost... More

Stayed in the motel area. Good price for the area. Room was clean and had a cell service and wifi which is hard to find in big sur. Staff are friendly and helpful with helping plan things to do in area.

Driving up Highway 1 on the California Coast, we stopped in Big Sur for Lunch. The food was very good, but also very pricy. There is also Outdoor dining here in the back, looking out on the Big Sur landscape.

A pretty large camping area with bathroom/showers, and a laundry room. The area is quiet, near the river. They also have cabins available. The pub is a great addiction too, in case you get tired of the woods. The price is about $60 per night per spot. I went here mid March and they had a lot of spots available.
