I booked a room at the Big Sur Lodge basically, because it was the only room left in all of Big Sur. I booked one week prior to a late July weekend, so I guess my #1 advice is BOOK EARLY when going to Big Sur! I skeeve dirty hotels more than anything, and after reading reviews of this place,... The location is excellent and the peace and quiet was all we expected. For the price, the cabins are very basic-bed, desk, firewood, and a noisy fan-that's it! We weren't bothered by the fact that our phones didn't work, isn't that the whole point of getting away from it all? Front desk service left a lot to be desired-check in... More

Quite charming. Defintley rustic. Friendly help, fun bar, We had the hot tub room, right out on the back porch over looking greenery everywhere. It felt great after a long day of traveling in the car taking all the sites in. Shower was small and yes you do hear the traffic going right by. But all in all we loved... More

I first went to Big Sur last year (Aug 2009) with my family--we were total of 7 adults--and stayed at Big Sur Lodge. My father had not warned me that there was no internet, no cell reception, no television, and no telephones in the rooms! When we first pulled up I loved the place, but I had technology withdrawls the... More

On our visit the reservation staff were very pleasant and very helpful. With their help I was able to not only get a great discount on a room but also an upgrade to a room that was located on the end of a building. As usual, the room was nice and very clean.

We are a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 children (11, 10, 6 and 3)) travelling around California. We stayed at the Big Sur Lodge for one night on a trip down the Big Sur from San Francisco to Los Angeles. On the plus side, the location is great. Not far from the main route 1 highway and in Pfeiffer... More

We stayed at the Lodge for a few days. The location is great- close to walks and very quiet. But it is very expensive for what you get. The walls are paper thin, it took us 3 days to get sugar sachets in the room, and we gave up on trying to get tea bags. We had to clean parts... More

We only stayed one night and were told we'd get a cabin with a kitchen so promptly bought fresh provisions from the small shop on sight. Got to our allocated cabin and no kitchen so we had to go back to reception and get a new set a keys. The cabin we eventually got was ok, although the kitchen could... More

Rooms are neat, tidy, and have no TV, internet, phones or clocks. Staff was excellent, provided information regarding local places of interest and seemed to genuinely care about guests.

We stayed at Big Sur Lodge at the end of January 2010. We had the place to ourselves as only a few of 61 cabins were occupied ours being one. The restaurant was closed for dinner both nights, but it was open for breakfast. It seemed different this time as we have stayed here many times in past years. Highway... More
