Booked this lodge long before the Sobranes fire hit the Big Sur area so wasn't sure what we would find when we arrived this past week. The lodge had limited food availability (restaurant closed but cafe open), most of the State Park was closed for hiking and exploring. Our first room had a very noisy gas wall heater but the... Used the lodge for a one night stay, which was the second time we had used the National Park Services. Again a comfortable room with simple facilities in a stunning setting. The main lodge building had a good restaurant and bar with good home cooking. I liked the idea of no mobile working although the internet is available. If you... More

We made a 1 night stop in Big Sur to relax and "unplug" during our Highway 1 adventure. We did not have cell service or internet and we were totally fine with that! Nice clean room and very quiet. This was our second visit and we were happy again!

My sister and I spent two nights here. Room was nice but expensive. It must have been off season because there weren't many other visitors, but that was fine. Weather wasn't too hot. Hiking from the park was nice.

This place has massive potential but it seems all the revenue earned from hotel stays is not being reinvested in the property. At $340 for a room it seems the management done;t care as they have pretty much a captive audience. Inseams that they did a makeover a few years ago but did not have the budget for the bathrooms... The location of this lodge is beautiful. The room we had was dirty and extremely outdated. The bed was awful and I think the pillows were about 10 years old. Spiders and dust all over the room. Due to a fire, the lodge lost power (while we were in the dining room). The staff assured us that the generator would... More

We had a very large room for our family of three, which had a fireplace, a Cali King bed and a twin bed in the large room. A second bedroom with a Queen bed was nice for Mom, while the kids took the main room. We arrived late, so didn't see much of the property, but the front desk folks... More

We stayed at this Hotel for 1 night , when driving from San Francisco to Los Angeles. So i can't say many things about hotel itself. For me it was clean and cosy , with the fireplace, nice balcony, falling cones on the roof all night long and many deers and fawns in the yard near my balcony in the... More

Stayed 2 nights. Location is lovely. Quiet and peaceful. Had a nice end unit. Room was good size with dedicated space for table and four chairs, fireplace with complimentary wood. Lighting was inadequate. Table lamps were cheap Craftsman style with paper shades; low level bulbs didn't help. Front window screen was jammed upon arrival. Had to pull screen out to... More

The good: the restaurant food and staff were good. The location is convenient and easy hiking trails right off the lodge. We had some car trouble and the staff driving around in golf carts stopped to help and were very kind. The bad: the only room available was larger than we needed (2 queens + twin) and for $400/night, was... More
