It’s a very romantic and rustic retreat. Walks through the trees visiting the restaurants and the gift shop is always a cozy and comforting feeling to know it’s there. I always feel cozy and safe. Close to everything essential in Big Sur and of course far away to relax in silence.
The Big Sur Lodge is surrounded by a beautiful redwood forest. A great relaxing time with beauty all around. You will come away from here relaxed and ready to return soon. This Lodge is a treasure not to be forgotten.
The best girls weekend ever. The accommodations were spacious and comfy, the Lodge Restaurant was excellent (better than several nearby spots) and the hiking fantastic. You can't go wrong with a stay at Big Sur Lodge.
One stop on a road trip. Room was a bit tired and damp. The most expensive and most disappointing of our trip. Room away from the main lodge. Nothing going on at the lodge, which closed early. No organised activities and as a result no atmosphere. Think I’d stay someone else if I visited again. Room ok, just below expectations and worst of 5 we stayed in. The state parks were great.
Rustic, too much so for my taste. Would stop somewhere else, but the places don't justify the price. The cabin I had 60 years ago was better. Parking is confusing. The staff is detached and disinterested.
We had the sweetest time in Big Sur and at the Big Sur lodge. We will definitely come again and recommend all we know to stay there. The service was excellent. The pool was warm. The lodge is convenient to the whole of big sur.
The lodge is a great place to stay if you are travelling to or through Big Sur - lodge was good, facilities were fine, room was basic but comfortable, location is incredible and included access to the state parks was great. However restaurant is awful and overpriced - as usually expected in a captive market like this. Overall, great place to stay, just avoid eating there if you don't have to.
We used this hotel as an overnight stay before continuing our trip along the coast. Very expensive for the poor accommodations, very outdated and in poor condition. Surrounding area is beautiful and if we do return, will definitely find a different place to stay. Don’t let the pictures or details fool you.
Having been a huge fan of Big Sur Lodge for many years, I have seen it progressively deteriorate in terms of it’s restaurant quality, especially the breakfasts, which used to be superb, and the appearance and comfort of the cabins which has not been updated in quite a while, and has suffered from aging / wear and tear. The majesty of the setting of the park itself is still a huge attraction, but in the future, I will likely lodge elsewhere, and visit the park as a guest.
Really cool area with beautiful views and nice people. Took a group of eight adults and everyone loved it! The red oak trees are huge! Pfeiffer State park is great. Ran out of time to hike much but driving through the park was really cool. Saw lots of wildlife.
