Beautiful spot been coming down here for years, can't go wrong with almost any of the sites, all have ocean views and very quiet at night. Bathrooms cleaned each day and campsites as well, the new camp hosts Dora and David are polite, efficient and take great care of the place. Remember that there is no running water, bring everything you need.

We spent three nights at Kirk Creek and had a great time! We stayed at site 6 our first night, which was OK, but was right behind the host’s site and so we did hear the generator when it was on. Our second and third nights we were able to switch to site 8 which was amazing, with an unobstructed ocean view and lots of space. The entire campground is gorgeous, but of course some sites are better than others, especially those right along the water (site 8 and 22 are apparently considered the best). Another group next to us the first night moved sites after their first night, so spots do become available, and if you’re already there you’ll have first dibs on any open sites. No matter where you end up, however, there will be people around, so don’t plan on a ton of privacy. We could see people or hear them almost the whole time. It’s kind of a community vibe. Also, the hosts make regular rounds of the site so you’ll see them too, but they were nice and not intrusive or anything. Vault toilets were actually very clean, trash was regularly collected from the bins, and the grounds were generally super clean. Absolutely no cell service or WiFi, but if you really need it you could drive about half an hour north and get a weak signal (at least on AT&T we did). Great tiny beach about a 2 minute drive south, where we fished for and caught perch that we brought back and cooked at camp! Also fishing at Sand Dollar beach a little further south, like 5 miles. We saw whales each night while we cooked dinner, and the sunsets were incredible :)…

We have camped at Kirk Creek about a dozen times, and this is the first time we stayed in campsite 5. I think it is my new favorite based on the size, privacy, and views to the south. It is so large that you can easily fit 6 tents in addition to a vehicle. It also has a couple of large trees that provide shade, a place for hammocks, and it is not as windy as the sites right on the ocean. Although it is next to site 3B, there was plenty of distance between each site to feel private.

I was staying up at Kirk Creek Campground in Big Sur earlier this week and let me tell you... So I got there around three o'clock and was greeted by Susan (who is forever in my heart) then I went to my site and partied my a** off. (it's been a long semester in zoom) I was SOLO GIRL jeep camping ,so i thought dang, I really do not to freeze, so i closed everything up... (heres where things get crazy) Around 10 o'clock pm, i decided alright time to get into bed. To my demise, I locked my keys in the back of my jeep with no set up laid out. All i had was my ipad, my dog, and a jacket. Now mind you, I am all alone in this world. I literally have a mom, and a younger sister. I couldn't call anyone, and had no one with me. SO i thought well, hot damn it's late, im on a cliff and im alone. I shed a few tears and walked to the camp host where i met Mar, and Joshua. There kindness is what humanity needs. Seriously, they immediately calmed me down and allowed me to use a phone to try and get help. After calling 20 companies and getting told im s*** outta luck; Mar and Joshua furthered there kindness and set up a tent for me. They made me feel like family and were more than happy to help. I felt beyond safe and slept like an angel. Now the next morning... I woke up to a foggy cliff and thought, life has some great contrasts. Here I am with EVERYTHING i own in my Jeep with no certainty of unlocking it, yet i met some of the most beautiful people and i am in the most beautiful place. Then to my prevail! my little sister showed up and after two hours we used a cost hanger to MacGyver the keys out of the bed of the jeep through a small crack in the window. EVERYONE AT THAT CAMPSITE INCLUDING CAMPERS, were so supportive and kind, no one pressured us to hurry or make matters worse. I wanted to speak my story because you genuinely have someone who now will only camp out there and yall really need to know how amazing and genuine the people you have working for you are. I hope one day i can join a staff of such amazing people!…

We were greeted by the super amazing camp hosts who accommodated us without reservations at site 3 for a long weekend. So incredibly friendly, they felt like family. And the view, my gracious! Hands down best view at any campground I’ve ever camped. The bathrooms were super clean every day. The raccoons were super friendly also : ) be sure to put everything away at night, or they will help themselves! We can’t wait to go back! Big Sur is so so special and if you’re looking for the full experience, stay here!

Besides being breathtakingly beautiful, this place smells, sounds and feels remarkable. Sage and anise line the paths while bunnies and squirrels play on grass. Huge birds fly above while waves crash beneath the cliff. Remote. Come supplied. No running water.

This might just be the best campsite I’ve ever stayed at. The views are absolutely spectacular and there is a little walkway down to the beach. There are two bathrooms available, all of the campsites are well maintained, and there are a plethora of trails along highway 1 for you to check out. All for only $20!

At $35 a night and offering virtually no services (not even drinking water), the price was steep but the view was unbelievable. Highly recommended for a night or two in Big Sur. Bring a big jug of water and make sure to hike down to the tide pools. More details in our blog.

We have been camping here 6 years in a row. We have always had a great time with amazing views. This year, the poison oak was all over the place. We were careful to avoid it, but ended up with 2 people having to go to the ER. There was poison oak all over their bodies, including their faces and they were completely swollen. I love this campsite but wanted people to know to look out for poison oak- especially if you are camping with children! Dogs can get it on their fur too and transfer it to you. Hopefully they will maintain the campgrounds better and control the poison oak for the future.
