My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and we decided to return for our 44th anniversary. We stayed in one of the suites overlooking the river. These are plain and rustic and could use some updating. The heater in our room looked like it was very old. There is no air conditioning and no in-room refrigeration, which was a little difficult since I must travel with medication that requires it. But the restaurant and bar staff were very good about providing ice whenever I asked. In fact, all the staff were always pleasant and helpful. The bed and pillows in our room were great. You can't beat the location with great hiking and other attractions within a few minutes drive. We made sure to stay through Sunday so we could enjoy the weekly live music and barbeque on the Inn's lovely lawn along a very peaceful river. The grounds and gardens are lovely.

Beautiful location. No AC in rooms bit luckily the weather was good. Any warmer and it would have been un comfortable. Honestly for the price a night a few more amenities or at least free breakfast would be nice.

The atmosphere was quaint and homey with wood fireplaces warming up the chilly May morning. The food and service were excellent. We recommend that you have a restaurant staff member escort you to your car, as the Inn accused us of stealing their pillow. WTF? We were NEVER in the Inn that is attached to the same grounds as the restaurant. The Hispanic hotel staff came up to our car to make this accusation, but when we tried to tell them that they were mistaken, suddenly the staff could not speak nor understand English. Even after explaining this to the staff member, she left and then returned with another staff member to make the same accusation and surprise of surprises, the second staff member also suffered from sudden English language loss. So if you want an excellent meal ruined by an arrogant Inn staff member, don't have a restaurant staff member escort you to your vehicle. If the Inn is so hard up that they accuse restaurant patrons of pillow theft, then I feel sorry for them. Especially as their daily room rate is well above the average for rooms in the area.

The room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the chairs on our porch, until it got too cold. No desk inside. The restaurant across the street had very good food. We went for dinner and breakfast. For staying at the Inn, you get a 10% discount on breakfast. There was also a small store on site with lots of fun stuff, including clothes. We both bought long sleeve t-shirts. The store clerk was very friendly and helpful.

What a great spot. Lovely view of the river, lawn, and redwoods from our room. Comfortable king bed for mom and dad, comfy Murphy bed for the kids in the living room, separated by the bathroom. Restaurant is delicious. General store had what we needed. We’ll be back.

This was a great little spot. The resturant was amazing, both becaue of the food and service. The rooms were just right for a nights stay. We arrived late in the evening and the office was closed. They left a note taped to the door to make sure we could still get into our rooms. It was appreciated that they took the extra time.

After driving for a while it just popped out. Do not drive past. An absolute delight. I ordered a burger. It was very good. The atmosphere is so charming. It is a log building with gardens out front. The flowers are covered with butterflies. Service was good and they had blue jays flying through the trees looking for a left over. The also have a creek with chairs in it! You can sit in the water and enjoy a drink. There is also a small shop for necessities. There is even a tree (a beautiful redwood) growing through the deck. Do stop here!!

We stayed in one of the Riverside Suites at $500/night. Very noisy. Walls are thin and to make matters worse, guests next door had tv blaring until 2am and did not respond to knocks on door. Hotel office only staffed until 9pm and no after hours number for emergencies etc. Motorcycles set off car alarms and our motion censored bathroom light day and night. It is a nice setting and room was clean, but you can enjoy restaurant and music and river without being a guest. Nexr time we will seek out a quieter option down the road!

We stayed one night with my husband and teenage daughter. We were pleasantly surprised by the room and grounds which exceeded our expectations. The grounds are beautifully done. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated with photographs of Big Sur area. Upon our arrival, we enjoyed a beer in the Adirondack chairs in the river after which we had a nice dinner at the outdoor restaurant on premises. They had a nice cocktail selection. I had a yummy pineapple jalapeño margarita and my husband had a ginger mai tai. We stayed in room 19 which overlooks the river. The room had a French press so we enjoyed a coffee in the morning in our room. Everyone we came in contact with from the young woman at the front desk, to the bar tender and our waiter were all friendly and welcoming. One thing though is the hotel is on Highway 1 so you do hear traffic. It did not bother me but may be a problem for some.
