My 22 yo daughter and I traveled throughout New Zealand and our stay at Ratanui Lodge was a high point. The personal attention we received was the best starting with the welcome email from Steve who asked if we had any special requests. We both have food allergies and Steve had his chef create an amazing dinner for us the... More

We have stayed at a number of lodge and bed and breakfast providers over a number tears and Ratanui is one of the best. The hospitality is superb with all our needs provided for. Steve and Pete run a well organised lodge with customer experience being paramount. We will be back.

A great way to start the track. Steve is a most welcoming host. Although we were the only ones in for dinner prior to the Easter rush we were not rushed along and instead were encouraged to sit back and enjoy some cocktails and a truly excellent dinner. The rooms were beautifully furnished and well appointed with enormous bathrooms.

What better place is stay after the twists and turns of the Takaka Hill! Steve is a wonderful innkeeper and is very accommodating. Breakfasts are a great selection of both cold and hot foods served adjacent to a garden with a terrific view of the forested hill behind. Unfortunately we did not book dinner in time (the Blue Penguin next... More

The best food during our whole trip to New Zealand! Best hospitality & activity ideas (even helped us plan ideas if raining). Always helpful - everything on site (food, beach across the street, best wine too!). A tricky drive from Nelson - would suggest water taxi & have the van pick you up - again Steve very friendly, gets back... More

We were received like royalty at Ratanui Lodge! Steve the manager is awesome friendliness, efficiency, and is very attentive to the welfare of its customers. Just arrived, he already gave us good advice for outings in the surrounding area and booked us a shuttle to the northern part of the Abel Tasman track. The rooms are spacious, and very quiet... That light in the distance is not the sun coming up over Golden Bay , but rather the diamonds on Pohara Beach , Steve and Pete who run the Ratanui Lodge. So good. So willing to help you enjoy yourselves all day. True professionals. .....and then the meals ...a standing ovation would be an understatement. The food provides the comfort... More

Should this be a secret? No, I think I should say that just beyond the northern exit from, or before the northern entrance to, the Abel Tasman Coastal Track is the Golden Bay, which is one community that includes several small cities, villages really, including Pohara, the location of the Ratanui Lodge and its excellent restaurant. I wonder if it... More

Five stars for sure. This place has everything. First, Steve is a knowledgable and caring host. He knows the region and is more than willing to share his knowledge. The rooms are first rate, comfortable and classy. The food is superb. Location, directly across the road from Golden Bay, is exactly what we hoped for. Ratanui Lodge looks good on... More
