A last minute decision and a recommendation from my daughter brought us to this country pub. We were a party of 4 and all decided on the Sunday Carvery, which is priced at £11 per head and includes a complimentary bowl of soup accompanied by some tasty home made rustic bread. The Carvery meats were beef, turkey, ham with Yorkshire... More

We called in for lunch to celebrate my Goddaughter's birthday after looking at Trip Advisor reviews found this pub and could not have enjoyed a better meal in idyllic surroundings. The barmaid, Lily, was so helpful and found a table for us outside and high chair for the young child and kept returning to take our order, bring drinks and... More

A very popular pub. Although we had a wait and the menu was becoming increasingly smaller it was well worth it. Due to this I had to choose things I would not normally eat and a little apprehensive. However, all our meals were very impressive with beautiful flavours. The desserts were mouth watering and unique. This is a place to... More

Called in a couple of weeks ago after seeing roadside sign and have already returned. Well run and organised, good food probably more restaurant than pub quality, excellent staff. Quiet location with garden to rear and lovely views. Recommended.

We have eaten here on numerous occasions over the last twelve months. Without exception the food has always been of a very high standard. The staff are attentive without being suffocating, the beer is kept and served well.

I have been to this pub several times over the years. My visit on the 23rd July was great. The food and service were spot on with the current management doing a sterling job. The Kirkby Stephen area is somewhere I have been visiting all my life(I'm 43) and alas it's currently not too well blessed with culinary destinations but... More

Excellent pub restaurant. Good mix of traditional, modern classics and lighter fayre, which is all freshly prepared and well presented. Lovely welcoming fire and a friendly greeting and service. Value for money is outstanding. Highly recommended.

We were staying at my brother's for a while, he booked us a table at the Bay Horse Inn for the evening we arrived. There was a wood-burning stove in the snug part of the bar and we decided to take a table there, rather than in the dining room. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food... More

We booked in for Sunday lunch. This is a busy place with good reason and we took the rather early table which was all that was available. Our (locally based) friends had been recommended to try the Bay Horse as it had changed hands since their last visit. The immediate reaction was how nicely it had been redecorated. Comfy chairs... We visited this pub for the first time with friends who live not far from it and we were all delighted with bothe the food and service. I had Lasagne which is probably the best I have had for years, the others had chicken with butter beans, fish & chips and a burger all of which were excellent. A real... More
