Definitely one of the best hotel/lodging experiences we've ever had. The lodge is located in a beautiful and serene part of the Chobe river, facing an strip of land that seems to be bursting with animals and birds. The common areas are beautiful and well situated. And definitely not lacking in complimentary drinks, etc.

The individual lodges are well spaced so you have plenty of privacy as well. The rooms are luxurious and thoughtfully furnished. Outside patio is peaceful and a perfect place to observe all the wild animals and birds in the morning and late afternoon.

We are a family of serious foodies and we were definitely wowed by every meal. Incredible options and array of flavors during breakfast and lunch. Even more special was 3 course dinners we were treated to every night. There were so many great options, even for our son who has gluten allergy. The kitchen went beyond and made sure that he had just as many incredible options. I can confidently say that the meals we had here were definitely comparable to any we've enjoyed at highly ranked restaurants in London, Paris, New York, etc. Absolute gem.

Even more special than the lodge, food, and amenities is the staff. Every staff member was warm and professional. All our requests/changes to schedule, excursions were managed smoothly and we definitely felt taken care of. I can't say enough good things about the staff and knew that we were being spoiled. It was so special that we warned our kids to not get too used to it.

I know this lodge seems like it's located in a far away location but you won't regret it. This is definitely a destination location.

We stayed 5 days at this lodge and loved every minute of it. It is fairly new and the standard of accommodation is luxurious. The lodges are built on stilts over the Chobe river so that you can see the birdlife and animals on the other side and on the islands in the middle. The room is deluxe standard, not like the canvas rooms you get in other lodges, with top class fixtures and fittings. As the room faces the river, you don't get the full (hot) sun during the afternoon and can sit comfortably on your balcony. The hippos come up the beach under your room at night and you can hear the gentle 'honking'. Lovely. The lodge has a chef with a classic cuisine background so the standard of food is excellent.
To do a game drive in the Chobe national park you need to exit Namibia and enter Botswana which is great fun. The Namibian immigration office is up a beach and you need to be taken by boat to get to the one in

I have done a bit of travelling in my life. I have been from Russia to Cuba, from China to Skye - and almost everything in between. I have stayed in lovely hotels and houses. (Sometimes in not so lovely places.) And then came the visit to Chobe Water Villas.
Right from our first step on the boat, taking us over the Chobe to the immigration office, the delightful Gilbert gave us his beautiful smile and care. At the Water Villas we were joyfully met by the entire staff, and from there on were we treated as royalty. Surely now I know how to it feels to be a beloved princess (without the paparazzi! ) The superb staff were friendly, kind, helpful, and professional.

The interior of Chobe Water villas is spectacular, but subdued and stylish. It masterly reflects the elements of nature typical to this majestic landscape. Look out for the basket weave-lights in the bar area, the whale ribcage in the lounge, and the stunning “dessert rainstorm” in the dining room.
The rooms are luxurious, outstanding in its simplicity and comfort.
The food was gorgeous, with an excellent wine selection to freely choose from. Congratulations on the excellent range of cognac.
All this beauty, a relaxed ambience, the splendor of the overwhelming experience of nature right on your doorstep … and you may ask why I wish to return to this, and not going back to Russia, or China?
All because of Gilbert’s lovely smile, his calm demeanor when he took us to see a troop of elephant crossing not 5 meter from the safety of our boat. And all the love, the care, the beauty.
I was truly sad to leave Chobe Water Villas.

We had some very disappointing events happen, we wanted to book out by the second night.

The food was lovely, game drive and cruise trips were also nice and a few staff amazing, there was no management there the first 3 nights but then even when they were there we hardly saw then and did not walk around and ask if all is ok like manager do.

From night one we had a hectic amount of stink bugs, so bad that our bath had 40+ every day, our toothbrushes had bugs on most of the time, the shower and toilet even worse. We reported this to front desk but not much happened, they didn’t even move us to another room. When we got to SA, there were bugs in our suitcases.

Heiki did not help us much as well, every time we report something he held his hand over his mouth and that is where it ended. We ask 3 times for prices on some activities, we are of course still waiting for this.

There were no telescopes in the rooms as advertised.

Our bar fridges were not filled every day, also as advertised, most of the time we had to ask.

Toilet paper and tissues were only replaced after we complained again.

The swimming pool was green and sludge at the bottom of the pool.

The water in the seating area was also dried up, not as per photos.

Then our Vic Falls trip was a disaster: (I don’t know what we paid for???)

• Firstly, we were placed with international people that required Visa’s (Border time was insane)
• We waited 2 and a half hours at the border post because we were place in the Visa side and then we had to wait in the vehicle for the other people to complete their Visa’s and payments.
• While driving to the Vic Falls the guide told us that there is limited time, and he suggests that we fly a helicopter as we would need to rush back because the Nam boarder closes at 4pm.
• We were dropped at the helicopter and had to pay R 12,800 for 15min.
• We were then rushed to the gate where we must have lunch and had to pay a further $100 to enter just to eat quick even offered to have takeaways while driving back.
• We were then rushed back to the Nam border that was just about to close.

So, the conclusion is that we had to pay R12,800 to fly 15min just to see the Vic Falls otherwise we would not have seen it, $100 to eat and we couldn’t even walk to the Victoria Falls and experience the falls. When this was reported to Chobe, again nothing was done, no apology from anyone and no refund.

If it was not for the 2 awesome waiters, Joy, cleaner, Calvin, Tommy and Corinna we would have checked out and returned to SA. These people are actually who are keeping the place still going.

We are all extremely disappointed and would never go back. This is the first time that we used another agent because ours was not available.

This was our second visit to Chobe Water Villas, and boy, this was an amazing experience!

Our visit in 2019 was good, but this one was exceptional and that is because of the new management pair that took over the management of this lodge. Peter and Birgit were magnificent and nothing was ever too much trouble or effort for them.

This was the second year we celebrated my husbands birthday at the lodge and we enjoyed every moment of it. The food and wine were first class! The service superb! The game drives and river cruises were fantastic.

We enjoyed the fact that there was no TV and listened to the sounds of the hippos and birds. No traffic or noise to spoil the calmness and tranquility while lounging on the deck chairs overlooking the great Chobe River.

The mini bar was stocked daily and every night there was turndown service and the closing of the mosquito net around the bed. The bed was very comfortable and the linen of high quality.

I am a very critical traveller and can not fault this lodge at all. We normally celebrate our individual birthdays at different lodges, but will be returning for the 3rd time in July.

Peter and Birgit turned this lodge around and made our stay a memorable one!

Chobe Water Villas is a place with a particular charm. Being located on the banks of the Chobe River, the villas are located on the same river and the transfers are therefore by boat, whose experience is amazing.

When you arrive at the gates of Chobe Water Village, you already realize the level and how spectacular its rooms are on the river.

The rooms are impressive, overlooking the river and with the latest technology. The villas are designed for guests to rest and enjoy, and also have a terrace where you can relax and watch the sunrise or sunset with a drink.

Once again, I am personally surprised by the restaurant's haute cuisine. There is only a pre-established menu for breakfast, and at lunch and dinner the Chef innovates.
Nothing to envy to any category restaurant in Madrid!

In our particular case we were attended by Thomas, Corina and Heikii. They are exceptional people, who apart from helping you in every possible way, accompany you on safaris and make your days much better. I would like to personally thank them all.

I definitely recommend it and I will repeat.

We stayed for 3 nights at Chobe Water villas for my 50th birthday. Although the borders were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they made special arrangements for us to be transferred from the Ngoma border post by boat.
Lovemore and his team made us feel welcome from the start. They even baked me a birthday cake. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The villas are by far the prettiest I have ever stayed in. The attention to detail is unbelievable. The daily boat trips along the Chobe river exceeded all our expectations.

The property is lovely and the staff is generally great. We were however, a bit puzzled at how we were treated by the manager after having communicated our departure times with the front desk officer. We had expressed our intention to either extend our stay by a day or leave later during the day but only to be rudely told at midday by the manager that we had to leave (details of which can be given). His approach and communication were quite unpleasant and spoil our entire experience. With a property so expensive, we expert that there should a better way of dealing with people especially because there were also so many things that went wrong with our arrival but we didn't even fuss about it. The overall experience of this trip was extremely poor because in our view experience or service far outweighs the beauty of the property. We leave with the experience and nothing else. Ours wasnt such a great one especially given how experience this property is.

Luxury epitomised! When in your chalet you can easily get lost and think you're in a hotel room somewhere exotic, and yet the thatched roof quickly reminds you you're in Africa and home. Night time the distant "laughs" of hippos and the sounds of water waves hitting the riverbank under your chalet serenade you to your sleep. The chalet bar never runs out. The food is divine. You can taste the passion of the chef in it. On request you can even have the local traditional dish for dinner! Lots of crocs, jumbos, buffalo and other animals to see.The staff is exceptional. We really felt at home.

What an amazing place, absolutely nothing to fault! The beautifully appointed villas face onto the Chobe river and you get to experience the amazing sunrises and watch hippos and elephants grazing on the island in front. The cruises along the Chobe river never failed to reveal something interesting.
We were worried that being the only guests would be awkward, but the staff went the extra mile to make as feel very special and by the end of our stay we felt like part of the family. The food was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Nothing was to much trouble for Stewart and Jana and their staff. A repeat visit is called for!!

Dearest Stellie-Bell The stink bugs where only seasonal and in the 2years and 6 months that the lodge has been opened it only happened once. We have taken preventative measures in the meantime to ensure that we do not have the same challenge again in the future.
