Very excellent service from Pieter Visagie and his team. He/They did the upmost to accommodate us; sadly we were the only tourist there during this time. Hopefully the tourism industry will rise up again in this beautiful part of Namibia.
We stayed two nights at Zovu Elephant Lodge. The owner Peter and his daughter Niki were really hospitable and absolutely flexible in pandemic times. They picked us up by boat near Ngoma due to closed borders in Botswana (3 hour boat drive). The lodge/the rooms are simple but very comfortable with a big terrace on the Chobe river and a beautiful backyard with pool. In the surroundings there is lots of wildlife. Peter took us several times on boat tours. He is a passionate photographer, so he knew how to get the best shot (light, boat position, distance). We‘ve seen many rare and wonderful bird species as well as the big game (elephants, buffalos, crocodiles, giraffes and a lion) pretty close. Zovu Lodge has a perfect value for money, since it is placed close by many very expensive Lodges and Peter has a lot of experience in that region. All in all we highly recommend Zovu Elpehant Lodge to people who love nature and peace, we are looking forward to visit again! …
All amazing; the personal guiding and attention from the owners was wonderful, the nature is above imagination, especially when in Peter's boat with all the explanations, the food was very good; the visit in the village nearby was a learning experience .... air conditioning in the rooms would help. All in all an unique experience, highly recommended!
Esther and Peter, and their wonderful and capable staff make this lodge a must-do for any travel in the area. I was met at the immigration dock in Kasane and graciously escorted by Esther to the Namibian immigration kiosk, about a 15-minute private boat shuttle away (and almost next-door to the Zovu Lodge). I enjoyed a welcome lunch on arrival, followed by a 3-hour boat tour along the Chobe River, truly a highlight of my trip. Along the river in the late afternoon/early evening it's teeming with hippos, crocs, elephants, antelope, zebras, giraffes, and more; and on a small boat you can creep up quietly and literally be "in" the action. It was spectacular. Dinner was family style, over great conversation. I will definitely be back, and I'll bring my husband next time to take part in more of the activities!…
Unfortunately we stayed only one night! The Lodge is on the Namibian side of Chobe National Park, looking at the Chobe park and directly on the water. Pick-up from the Botswana side is by boat and charming host Ester surprised us with.an excellent Gin and Tonic on the way over to the Lodge. We had a very good lunch and dinner AND breakfast - all with various choices, a mix of European things with excellent local fare. Esther and Peter have been the perfect hosts and we truly enjoyed staying there. The rooms are actually small houses and very generous in size, comfortable bed with mosquito netting. It has been built some years ago but absolutely clean and comfortable. If you get a chance go on a trip with the owner Peter - his wildlife boat trips were the best. He is very knowledgeable about photography and will stop the boat in a manner so one gets the best shots!! Highly recommended. It doesn't show on booking.com and I guess other sites too that BLD is included and the afternoon trip. Best to inquire. …
I stayed at the Zovu Elephant Lodge with my sister for two nights in March 2019. Peter, the owner, is hospitable, knowledgeable and did an overall excellent job ensuring we had a top-notch experience. I can suggest the "two-night package" as it is an economical all-inclusive option (one credit card transaction - none of the nonsense of nickel and diming visitors for every meal or activity) that includes a river boat safari and a game drive in the world-famous Chobe National Park. I have traveled to more than 160 countries and can recommend Zovu without hesitation. Enjoy!
We had a blast. Fantastic views! Clean and spacious rooms as well as splendid sun-downer cruises on the Chobe River made for an adventurous 3 night stay. We got to see plenty of fish eagles, elephants, crocs and hippos, as well as large herds of buffalo and impala. Thanks for the great & friendly hospitality Peter & Co. We will definitely come back for some more tiger fishing :)
Zovu Elephant lodge combines luxury in the heart of the African busch. The lodge is flanked by Namibian and Botswana rivers being the Zambezi and the Chobe. Animal life and site seeing from boats is absolutely amazing. The tranquility of Africa with her amazing sunsets, night sounds and breathless sunrises will ensure you experience the best of Africa.
Peter is the perfect guide! We really enjoyed our stay! The boat safari's were all perfect and spectacular! We would recommend this lodge to everybody! The staff is also very friendly! You will learn a lot! Thanks again!
Peter and his staff were wonderful. The accomodations were great. The boat rides on the Chobe River gave us close-up animal viewing that was among the best we'd had in a month-long Africa trip. We had the opporrtunity to vist a real (not a tourist site) local village. And, the food was good and dealt nicely with the vegan and pescatarian preferences of our family members. All in all, a really good choice. Hard to imagine a better place.
