Africa Safari Maasai Boma is a unique accommodation. Not only because of its ideal location, with Kenya’s Maasai Mara and situated between Lake Natron to the east, Serengeti National Park to the west, and the Ngorongoro to its south, but also due to its design. As the accommodation’s name suggests, it is inspired by a traditional Maasai boma. Look around you and you’ll understand why; you’re in their midst. The circular earth houses with thatched roofs are simple, solid, basic yet comfortable. A spacious bedroom, decorated with traditional Maasai blankets and beadwork, furnished with a kingsize and a single bed, and a bathroom ensuite equipped with a European standard toilet and shower facilities. The village is called Ololosokwan and although not located in an official game reserve or national park, even here you will find game now and then. Wildlife does not know boundaries!

From the minute we arrived on this gorgeous property it was so enjoyable. We were only here for 1 night but this place made a big and lasting impression on us. The staff welcomed us immediately and made us feel comfortable. It had been a long, travel day and they built a fire in their big fireplace and served us drinks and snacks. It was very cozy and just what we needed after a long day! The accommodations are very unique in the traditional Maasai boma style, and felt very clean, comfortable and cozy. We connected with the staff right away because they were so friendly and helpful. The manager, Godwin, suggested watching the sunrise in the morning as this property is surrounded by Northern Tanzanian hills and mountains. It was a great tip and it was truly one of the most amazing sunrises I have ever seen. Pictures cannot adequately capture this, you just need to see it! The food was delicious and they served traditional African food. Breakfast was delicious also. We were only here for one night but the beautiful scenery and absolutely lovely staff made it so memorable! This place will stay with you long after you leave it.

In the serene region of northern Serengeti there are only a handful of camps, all very high standard, with low amount of visitors (very different from other parts of Serengeti where it will be cramped in the top months). This camp is new (Dec-21 construction), all with traditional Masaai construction techniques, and by far the best value for money camp in the region.

Only 15 min from Serengeti’s Kleins gate, in the Ololosokwan conservancy where the local Maasai happily take you on bush walks (to see giraffe, zebra, impala, Jackals, hyena). The perfect stop before you go into Serengeti, or as a base to drive in and out of the Serengeti on a daily basis, given it’s proximity to Kleins gate.

The camp has a swimming pool, wifi, and a nice restaurant with a large fire place in the middle of the restaurant. The camping, Maasai huts, as well as the more luxurious larger lodge huts are all of high quality (in traditional style) and all have tremendous views over the valley. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the boma while on safari and were so happy with our visit. The rooms are beautiful, clean and unique and the bed is so comfortable we had no problem falling asleep, helped along by the peaceful sound of bird noises! The restaurante/bar area is always tended to. We found dinner and breakfast to be delicious (especially the soup stater) and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The Massai even performed some traditional song and dance for us and taught us more about their culture.
We would 100% choose to stay here again!

During our 5 nights safari through Tanzania we stayed here 1 night. We made a bush walk with 2 local Maasai and during the evening the Maasai gave a cool show in the restaurant. It is a wonderful place to stay. You will sleep in a hut which looks like a Maasai house, including your own shower and toilet. Wifi is available in the restaurant. Food is really nice and all the staff is very friendly. Its 10 minutes drive to the gate of Serengeti National park.

My dad and I stayed here for 1 night on our safari tour and couldn’t be happier with the accommodations. We were greeted by a traditional Masai dance, fresh towels and homemade juice. The staff was very accommodating, the camp manger, Patrick, was very helpful and Michael in the restaurant offered great service. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious and amenities such as pool, bar and restaurant were very enjoyable. The Masai community was very welcoming, offering a guided bush tour, shared cultural traditions and sold handcrafted Masai merchandise. I would highly recommend Masai Boma, whether you’re on safari or just looking for a comfortable accommodation rich in culture, this is a truly special place.

Thank you to the great staff for hosting us,

Samantha

We spent a night in this lodge and we can confirm that it was one of the best lodges we have ever been (actually my favorite). With a great location right next to the Serengeti national park, it is a very recomendable stop to gain some energies before visiting the park. We wanted to mention Patrick, the great host of the camp, Michael, that was there to help us in everything he could and played traditional boardgames with us and all the staff that were there to make our stay perfect. The food was great and they even prepared a fire to mame us feel like home. The rooms were excellent and the surroundings outstanding. We very strongly recommend this lodge. Thank you!

It is a very nice location to visit with friendly hosts always giving you a helping hand when needed.
They also offer activities like walking through the bushes to spot zebras, giraffes, termites. They can even make fire with zebra poop.

Short and sweet stay during a round-trip of Northwest Tanzania.
Nice, clean lodgings with plenty of room. Water pressure and temperature can be an issue due to being on a hill/mountain and being restricted by local infrastructure, but there's a working shower and toilet in each house.
Very friendly staff and a very cosy common lounge area with a fireplace.

The radiator of our car broke down so we had to stop. This lodge was very close luckily! What an amazing place. The staff is super friendly and happy to help. They called a mechanic form the village to fix the car. They welcome us with glass of juice and make a great fire to keep you warm at dinner. The food was delicious!
The facilities are very nice and clean. Everything is very good maintained.

Long story short; a true gem to stay just outside the Serengeti!
