Went to Neftekamsk for business, stayed in Kama for 1 night. Rooms were clean, tidy but super small. Breakfast was poor, had to go around my day hungry. Not many choices in the city so picked the hotel hopimg for luck, this time miss. Will have to try other option next time.

Two reasons might bring you to Gostinica Kama. First, you might have the need to stay overnight in Neftekamsk, and the Kama is definitely the best place in town. Or, you want to experience the charm of Soviet Hotels: staff distrustful with foreigners checking your visa, immigration card and else with the intensity of a KGB-officer candidate fearful to pass his exams under the eyes of his eager officer; service staff protecting their food supplies from tourists to prevent the famine of the locals; and a very relaxing and quiet sleep under the always present eyes of Lenin whose huge face is watching into all rooms facing main square. Get charmed by the luxury: a set of big tumblers to have a late-night vodka party in your room, plus a huge fridge to store your self-bought supplies.

And make friends with the nice Bashkortostan people, then you can stay next time with them, even if you are without papers and money.
