Travelers' Choice 2019 Winner
Certificate of Excellence
Awarded with the “Certificate of Excellence” and “Traveller’s Choice” in 2019, also listed among the top 25 luxury resorts worldwide, Ayada Maldives is a luxury private island resort offering a truly luxurious retreat with a genuine Maldivian style. Set in the relatively unexplored Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll in the south of the country - just a few kilometres from the equator - the island offers 122 spacious villas and suites, all with private pools, butler and thoughtful five-star detailing. Traditional thatched-roof water-villas stand on stilts over the resort's peaceful lagoon, while beach villas offer absolute privacy amid tropical greenery alongside powder-soft palm-lined white beaches. Food lovers can explore the six restaurants and bars, while those seeking complete relaxation will find their haven in the large spa set in beautiful tropical gardens which boasts a Turkish Hammam as well as a Vichy Shower and eight private treatment villas. The resort is noted for its gardens and tropical greenery and is ringed by a pristine coral reef where dolphins are frequent visitors. The active can explore the area on a host of excursions that include visits to the equator, local villages and fishing trips, while at the resort they can play tennis or badminton, take up watersports, learn yoga or simply hit the 24-hour gym. Outstanding diving and snorkeling opportunities surround the island on reefs that have barely been visited by humans while some of the country's best surfing breaks are just a quick speedboat journey away. Weddings take place just before sunset in the private wedding chapel set in a treelined garden or on the beach under a gazebo draped with flowing material.

My wife and I recently returned from a 7 night stay at Ayada Maldives. We have had many luxury holidays in the past – Lux in the Maldives and Mauritius being two of them. However, our week at Ayada was another level completely. After doing a lot of research, we initially booked a Sunset Beach Villa as we felt that this would be the best fit for us. Based on experiences we have had on previous holidays in other resorts and on our desire for privacy, we made sure to specify that we be placed on the quietest part of the island – specifically that we be placed away from where people fly drones. This, although seemingly insignificant, was a real irritation on our last few trips – particularly on one occasion where I was proposing to my now wife with drones flying overhead. When we arrived at Ayada, we were immediately impressed with the level of service. What was immediately clear is how professional and lovely the staff were – without exception. Unfortunately, on arrival we found that the room we had been assigned did not align with our original request; it was not as private as we had hoped and was situated on the beach assigned to drone usage. We were initially very disappointed about this. However, when we spoke to Rachelle about this, she was incredibly warm and understanding, and immediately moved us to another room – a beautiful villa, which was both private and far beyond our expectations. I cannot tell you how grateful we are for how the staff at Ayada made this the most amazingly special holiday we have ever had – and I will admit that we can be difficult to please due to having had some pretty spectacular experiences in the past. Rachelle and Ismail are two of the loveliest people who made sure that our trip to the Maldives was the most wonderful trip ever. Our butlers, Aisaf and Shifaz, were the height of professionalism and warmth – as were all the staff we saw on a daily basis. The food at Ayada was certainly the best we have eaten at a resort at this level. We loved that even when the resort may have been busy, there was still a huge sense of space. Somehow, there's enough space for everyone. We often sat on the white sandy beaches on our own feeling like we had the whole island to ourselves. We snorkelled everyday with turtles and sharks, saw dolphins jumping in the ocean as we drank coffee on our deck in the morning. Thank you so much, Ayada. I can guarantee we will be back. We've already recommended you to anyone that will listen.

Wow. What a place. This is our third time to the Maldives, each time a different resort and this was by far the best. Such a beautiful location. And don’t worry about the comments about it being remote; the internal flight and subsequent speedboat ride is a doddle, it’s actually quite fun, even after two long haul flights from Europe. The location is simply stunning, the choice of accommodation varied and the food wonderful. Best of all though is the service. While many Atolls offer stunning beaches with similar accommodation and amenities, what really makes a difference here is the service, it is exemplary. Special mention to our butler Aisaf who took very good care of our needs. Also to Nishantha who was the perfect host in the Ocean Breeze Restaurant (which my wife says is now her favourite restaurant in the world). So all in all, THE most fantastic holiday and 100% recommended. Just one small point for the management team who I know read these reviews. I would recommend to remove the home theatre surround sound systems from the villas - we had a couple who arrived at the villa next to us who seemingly oblivious to their surroundings, used this to blast dance music at full volume. Not want you want to have every evening when trying to enjoy a sunset drink on your villa terrace in the Maldives. Our butler resolved this for us but we know other guests also complained about the loud music from this couple.

THANK YOU AYADA. I have spent 2 months looking for the best resort for our family with 5 children. Between the many 5 star resorts I looked for the best reef combined with a nice Maldivian style resort, good location and good service. This was our first visit to the Maldives but from what I have read and saw we absolutely found a gold mine. The house Reef- First you can snorkel around the whole island drop off and view the beautiful reef and many many liveing corals-there are simply everywhere. Many living Anemone with Nemo fish-we also were lucky to see one being opened by the Nemo fish. There are endless colourful Star fish, Lobsters!!! , Cow tail stingrays, Huge (25 cm 5 finger shells) and plenty of reef fish-we saw new kind of fish every day. Sharks and turtles were seen daily every time we went snorkelling . For the smaller children they could snorkel on the house reef (between the resort and the drop off, which is full of live corals(, also soft ones), baby reef sharks, small turtles, scorpion fish, shells, small squids, and everything you can wish for. There are no strong currents so we could easily snorkel around the whole island and all day carrying with us the small ones in Zayaks given to us by the Dive centre. There are no wave breakers around the hotel only small uninhibited islands. Going fishing we caught every time fish which was marvellously made for us by the Magu restaurant chef Shuhaam. They even prepared a special place for our oldest son to take part in the fish preparation. In one of the fishing trips we jumped into the water to swim with a group of nurse sharks. The hotel itself is very nicely designed, all the facilities are beautiful and pleasant to look at. The staff is very nice and helpful-our older children played volleyball and football with the staff and were extremely happy. We ate mostly at the Magu - Thank you very much all the Magu team from the Wonderfull friendly cookers to the management : Suman and Aruham . The variety of food is endless and the style changes very day. As we were with 5 children we had sometimes unique requests and the hotel was always happy to help, and the resort manager was following up with us daily to make sure all is perfect. To note few places where the hotel can improve I would say flowing down of request between the staff so we would not have to explain our request to different people. and, what for us is annoying is smoking Do not worry about the extra distance
