Nestled on a picturesque beachfront, Apsara Beachfront Resort and Villa captivates guests with its tranquil and festive atmosphere. While some travelers suggest dining at local eateries for better value, the resort's staff garners universal acclaim for their attentive and warm service. The cleanliness of the resort is another highlight, with impeccable maintenance of rooms and public spaces. Although opinions on the rooms vary, with a few guests pointing out dated aspects, the allure of the beach and the proximity to attractions like an elephant sanctuary remain major draws.

Everybody has a different idea as to what makes an ideal holiday destination. For us it was winter sun with warm temperatures and a good beach, so after Thailand was chosen, our travel agent found us some medium sized resorts to look at. The Apsara Beachfront Resort and Villas near Khao Lak came out on top, and we duly made the trip to Thailand at the end of January - we were not disappointed. The main attraction of the resort was the beach, where the soft sand and unspoilt coastline is beautiful. To the south it is a couple of miles to the next resort, a walk that we did just about every day, with only the sound of the waves to break the silence. Often you could be half a mile away from anybody else, with only a few hermit crabs for company and the sea is warm and very safe for a dip. There are some good waves, we enjoyed watching the surfers and it is possible to hire boards. To the north the beach is not quite as good, but there were some colourful fishing boats to see, but beware of tripping over a mooring rope or half hidden anchor when paddling in the shallow water. As for Apsara itself, the resort for us was an excellent place to say, making the 90 minute road trip from Phuket airport certainly worth it. Accommodation is split into two halves, being bisected by a running into the sea. On one side is the main part of the resort with the Kinnaree restaurant, infinity pool, the pool that has swim up rooms, bars and hotel rooms, while at the other side are the villas, which have private pools or jacuzzies. There is also the Napalai restaurant and an attractive pool on this side of the stream, for those that have chosen this type of accommodation. There is a bridge between the two, although the stream is easy to cross at low tide, it becomes much more of a challenge when the tide is coming in. We opted for a half board package, and were pleased that we did, we enjoyed a good choice at the buffet breakfasts and dinners in the Kinnaree Restaurant. The bars for all- inclusive guests did not have the beach views that the Karkinos Beach Club has. Here we could be found twice a day during ‘Happy Hour’ where we were served by some extremely friendly and helpful staff, led by Porn who was always up for a bit of fun. Watching the sun set over the sea from this location is a must. Mosquitoes are prevalent from dusk, if you react badly to their bites an effective repellent is a must. We cannot speak highly enough of the Apsara staff, everybody is so genuinely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We decided to upgrade to a private pool villa halfway through our two week stay where Golf the manager was extremely helpful. While Guest Relations Manager Emee always greeted you with a big smile and checked your holiday was going well, and Kinnaree restaurant manager Chay ensured everything ran smoothly. All of the restaurant staff worked hard, but a special shout out to Kathin, who was always there at breakfast with a much-appreciated top up of coffee. The food in the restaurant was varied, the cooked to order stations were great and even for somebody who isn’t that keen on Thai food, there was always something to enjoy. Our deluxe room and then our pool villa were both kept beautiful clean by housekeeping, bedding and towels were changed as frequently as we wanted. The bed in the deluxe room was large and firm, the one in the villa was huge and very comfortable. For those who fancy a change from the resort’s facilities, the Memories Bar just along the beach is another alternative for food and drink. There are a number of sunbeds around the infinity pool area, where the age-old competition of reserving one with a towel takes place on a daily basis. We generally didn’t bother, preferring to wander along the beach before returning to the resort, and enjoying a ‘Happy Hour’. The infinity pool is in a lovely setting and a good length but the tiles appear to need cleaning. The pool round the swim up rooms is very attractive and the cooler water makes for a refreshing dip. As for entertainment at the resort, it is limited. Weekly there was a dramatic ‘fire’ show on the beach one night, while some Thai dancers performed their traditional routines on another night. While a beachwear shop, gift shop and tailor are on site, there is no mini store for essentials, although Lilly’s Mini Market is located about a quarter of a mile away. Trips to local markets are available, with a shuttle bus taking visitors to Kao Lak on a daily basis, while other trips out can be booked through the resort. This is a rather isolated resort, but it suited us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Apsara, and are already thinking about a return visit next year.

Just arrived at this hotel on honeymoon. Totally not as the website pictures show. TUI don’t want to know yet the hotel looks nothing like the pictures. I cannot believe they can get away with this kind of thing in this day and age. Just look at the pictures.

Thank you, Apsara and thank you Thailand for a beautiful vacation. The resort was great, we stayed in a pool villa that was magical, clean, big, with an outdoor shower and birds singing in the garden. The restaurants, the pools, the sea, all were nice, the food was delicious, but, most of all, the people, the staff, from reception to restaurants and bars, they were all kind, friendly and helpful. We would come back any time.

Just returned after a week stay at Apsara. Stunning resort, super friendly staff and lovely restaurants. The all inclusive buffet restaurant served spme of the best buffet food I have ever eaten and every night was a different theme. Loved the counter at the back which cooked food to order for you. The beach is absolutely stunning and perfect for watching a sunset. We didnt swim in the sea as felt the tides were quite strong and also a lot of jellyfish around but the pool was beautiful and fairly quite so stayed in there. The only downside for us was the very remote location, needed to get a taxi to the town which wasn't expensive but just a bit of an inconvenience. We also found in the evenings after dinner, there was nothing to do so ended up going to bed early. The all inclusive doesn't include the main restaurant Karkinos which over looked the beach so if you didn't want to pay extra, there was no where to sit and chill out in the evening. We did walk to the beach bar next door Memories which is lovely. Special thanks to Miw in the Ila bar who was the loveliest lady in the whole place Lovely clean rooms and just an all round perfect week away

We've just returned from this place after a wonderful fortnight holiday. Apsara is just so relaxing, especially the villa side of the resort, with it's own pool, restaurant & bar. All the staff are so friendly & helpful. The food in the Napalai restaurant is excellent, as are the cocktails. Special mention goes out to Emee & Yudi in Guest Relations; Tee who runs the Napalai, along with Yuda, Zar, Lookaeuw & others; and to Nuay & Ko who run the bar, along with May. It was in fact our second trip here, the first being this time last year. Last year was a villa with a jacuzzi, and that's how we started this year, but upgraded to a villa with a pool after 5 days. This was so worth it. Adding to this: the beach is very long and spacious; an elephant home is literally next door (5 min walk); the local town (& excellent market) is 15 minutes away by taxi (300 THB). PS, we'll be going back this time next year, along with many other regular returnees, some of whom are now friends, who think of it as a home from home :)

We have just returned from our 5th visit to Apsara and had a brilliant 3 week holiday. The staff always went above and beyond and nothing was too much trouble especially Emee who sorted out a problem with the air conditioning unit and had it replaced within a couple of hours Special thanks also go the the staff at the Napolai restaurant including Tee, Zar, Ko, Yuda plus the others who always welcomed you with a smile and a friendly greeting We would highly recommend Apsara as a get away from it all type of place with a huge beach without sunbeds so always unspoilt and plenty of space It is so good we have already booked to go back next year for our 6th visit and there are so many people who go back year after year which really tells you something

Just back from Apsara we stayed in private villa with a pool which I have to say was luxury but also very expensive we paid over £9,000 for the privilege but our choice. The food was very good on the villa side but it was repetitive we did ask for other things like a club sandwich and this was arranged for us at no extra charge which was great so make sure you ask if like us if you don’t want to spend hours in the restaurant eating. The breakfast however in the villa side was fantastic and all very fresh. We just found having lunch and dinner there was just too much and took so long that we went over the hotel side for a Buffett which was mush quicker allowing more time for sunbathing. Food at the beach restaurant was nice but not the best we’ve had. We were here 8 years ago and too be honest we’re amazed at how much it has changed the hotel side was just packed with rows and rows of sun beds with not much room in between which I personally thought was way too cramped.we did stay on this side before but upgraded in our second week. The villa side was much more spaced out and peaceful that was until the hotel did nothing about guests from the hotel side coming over to use the pool with their children which is not allowed and you pay a very large amount of extra money for the peace and quiet and this privilege which I thought was not managed well by the hotel staff. Also unfortunately there were a couple of people who every day came out early and put their towels on sun beds only to leave them for hours at a time and even though there is a board saying the hotel would remove towels if left for more than an hour this did not happen. There was even some people who saved their sun beds then went and sat on two more in the shade hence having 4 beds at a time, very selfish. The hotel staff need to manage this better to stop this as we all know it’s becoming a sun bed war. We were recently in Cyprus and they managed this perfectly and no one reserved their beds before they wanted them and were very respectful of other guests so it can be done. The elephant home just behind memories beach bar is a must, it’s only 100 baht each for entry and you can get a basket of food for either 1 or 200 to feed them, we went twice it was lovely to see them so well looked after. Memories was worth a visit for a change and an ice cold beer only 130 baht. There were a couple of staff members who really stood out over at the villa side, Yuda was always jolly, friendly and very helpful full credit to him he’s an asset to the team and also a really lovely bar man at the villa which I am so sorry I’ve forgotten his name it might be Karma or something similar but he served us most evenings and was teaching May, he was so lovely as well and very experienced so thank you to both of these staff members, they just stood out for us. Also a mention to the lovely ladies who cleaned our villa and the pool boys, they deserve a mention vey polite with excellent service, thank you. Overall, the villa side is lovely although a few things as mentioned I would ask the hotel to change/manage. I would absolutely not stay at the hotel side due to the large amounts of sun beds cramped and too be honest although the vllla was exceptional we would not return I do feel the standard of service has dropped and for the expense I think there’s others places we still need to visit round the world so we would not return. Weather was fantastic the whole time though.

After visiting the Thailand resort of the Aspara Beachfront Resort and Villas near Khao Lak last year, the lure of winter sun and warm temperatures during late January and early February this year was hard to ignore. And there was only one place to go, namely back to Aspara for a couple of weeks – we were not to be disappointed. To be honest, we decided to book a holiday there again shortly after our return last year, after having a wonderful time. Returning to a resort like this can occasionally lead to disappointment, as the familiarity of the venue may not measure up to expectations. This was definitely not the case on our return, and both of us agreed that we enjoyed this year’s holiday more than our first visit. This year we up-graded to a pool villa after spending half our holiday in one last year. It was a good choice, the villas are spacious and include an outdoor shower. This area also boasts, swimming pools, a gym and restaurant which is situated on the other side of the river that bisects the resort, with access being gained by a bridge. Lovely tropical birds are plentiful around the villas and it is delightful to hear the occasional trumpeting of the elephants from their home next door. This is a much quieter part of the resort, although guests on that side of the river can still use the facilities in the main part of the resort over the bridge. So, what has changed from last year? In fairness, not a lot, and most of which was written in our review then still applies. The tailors, gift and beachwear shops are still there, while for essentials, a couple of mini markets are located about a quarter of a mile away. Trips to local markets are available, with a shuttle bus taking guests to Kao Lak on a daily-basis, while taxis can also be hired for this purpose at reasonable rates. The infinity pool appears to have been re-tiled since last year, while signs have been erected to say that reserving sunbeds is not allowed. There has also been a change to one of the all-inclusive bars which now also houses a coffee shop. This is available to all guests, and is where we enjoyed some tasty ice cream and iced coffee, although as we chose to have the half board tariff, we cannot comment on the arrangements for guests who had the all- inclusive option. The main change is on the beach itself, where in October the monsoon altered the course of the river, resulting in a wider channel of water making its way to the sea. It is easy to paddle across at low tide, although is a much more challenging crossing when the tide is high, which often catches out un-suspecting beach walkers. Of-course the resort’s bridge allows an easy passage, with a well-defined path leading to the beach and Memories Bar. The full river at high tide does have some advantages though, with some guests taking the opportunity to float in the salt water which at most is around a metre in depth. The beach itself remains a highlight, with soft wide sand that stretches as far as the eye can see. We walked the mile or so to the next resort and back early each morning, with very few other people out and about – our only company being a few hermit crabs and some local fishermen. Again we spent the twice-a-day ‘Happy Hours’ in Karkinos Bar on the beach front, where we also enjoyed some food during our holiday. Here all the staff were great and up for a bit of fun, a place from where we watched numerous sunsets. For those wishing to sample other food outlets, local restaurants were available although a taxi might be needed, while a walk to Memories Bar on the beach is also a popular option. But Aspara’s main asset is the staff, they are all superb. We chose to eat at Kinnaree Restaurant where manager Chai keeps a keen eye to ensure everything runs smoothly. Although self-service, a team of young people are continually clearing tables or serving drinks tirelessly. As with all staff at Aspara, you are greeted with a smile, they genuinely appear to enjoy giving good service without being ‘over the top’ they are a credit to the resort. And it is the same with Aspara’s management team, Mr Golf and Guest Relations Manager Emee lead the way, although everyone on the Apsara staff do their best to make each guest feel special, and in this they totally succeed. As this was our second visit to Apsara, we were surprised, but delighted, to be invited to a drinks reception for guests who have visited Aspara in previous years, an event that was hosted by the management team. Here the opportunity was taken to chat with them as well as fellow guests, which made a very pleasant start to the evening. With approaching 50 of us there, it shows how many make return visits. I think that these receptions take place every couple of weeks, which is a nice touch. It is also worth looking at Aspara’s Facebook page to see what is going on, to their credit the resort supports some local charities. But remember, this is only our opinion of the resort, it might not be yours! For us, the location and more importantly the staff make this a superb place to come and enjoy a relaxing stay. We will definitely be back in 2025.

Beautiful Big and very atmospheric Hotel area , seems to be one of the Top tier Hotels in the Khao Lhak Range as just few Hotels we saw here were as clean and as authentic. When we arrived we were offered an upgrade from superior to villa level without any extra payment. Also we join a free Trip to Khao Sok without any fee and after our return were granted the same quality villa apartments we had before .A shuttle bus went from 10 a.m until 5 p.m for free to the city center and the Bang Niang market . The staff was very diligent and always very fast to fulfil every wish. The Reception always had every second in the Day time for Questions or help in anyway. The food was a good mix between traditional Thai food and western breakfast. Pool area was to every time clean and hygenical. The next Beach (coconutbeach )was around 3 to 5 minutes on foot away . I would recommend this Hotel especially as trip with family and if u prefer to have a rest in the Hotel area without too much noises and disturbance. We will to 100 percent come here again . :D Greetings to the Staff , Family Kopka
