Our bungalow was clean very comfy twin beds , spacious , big fridge filled with water , beer, soda, at a good price . Nice veranda to sit out on .
The grounds are lovely as is the pool very clean.. It's close to the beach a 5 min walk .. Only ate in the restaurant once it was ok .. Very close to the main drag of bars & rests , shopping . But the resort itself very quite & peaceful . So glad we stayed here and will be going back Asap..
It's very good value . And we felt very safe .. We bought a plug in for the room as there are mozzies about it worked fine ..
Did a trip with Lora at Dior travel she is a lovely lady and we had a great time with her .. She also does airport runs that is cheaper than hotel by 300 Bart ..
We also did a three day snorklling trip with the poseidon bungalows and had a great time well worth a look ..
All in all i cant say anything bad about the cousins resort we had a great time .. I'd also want to thank Alan from the Khao Lak forum for all his help it was very nice meeting you and Barbara .. See you again soon at the cousins ..

It is so peaceful lying by the pool outside our bungalow: the trees have all grown; the palms stand straight and tall, the heliconias add a gorgeous splash of red. There's no noise of traffic, although CC is on a quiet Soi (road) a small block back from the beach and so you sit by the pool and read, listen to music, blog or keep in touch with the world of your tablet. The Internet here is excellent.
The restaurant isn't open as it's the off season and to be expected. They can't have fresh food sitting around waiting to be purchased when there are so few tourists around. But they can make fruit smoothies and these are a great way to start the day, so have one for brekky. They are totally refreshing after a day walking around town too so have one on your return.
Market days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. If you check with the staff about the cost and if they're available to cook a meal for you, buy a fish, some prawns or calamari or whatever takes your fancy and you'll have a fabulous dinner.
Times are still tough for many people post-tsunami. If you think about it - people had a mortgage pre-tsunami and still had that mortgage to pay after the tsunami but without any means of paying it - so another loan had to be taken out in order to rebuild. In effect many people have two mortgages now on one property.
So, although it's easy to go to the local supermarket for beer and water - think about drinkng the ones in the bar fridge - they are so very reasonably priced and all the extra baht will help!
It's good to see they're doing maintenance work on the property in the off season, it's a hive of activity.
We love this place and the owners.

There is free wireless internet in the reception area (good speed) and there is a nice restaurant in the resort (especially we liked their Phad Mama with chicken). The resort is like one big garden with lots of trees, bushes and flowers. There is a nice looking pool – we didn’t try it, since the beach is only a 5 minute walk away. A good tip: instead of just going through the Sudala resort and using their beach – try turning right (north) and go to the last bar/restaurant on the beach (can’t remember the name, it is something like 500 – 700 meters from Cousin’s). This is a really nice place and a lot less touristic
And if you like “beach trekking” then continue further north along the beach. There is a couple of rivers to cross (wear swim suit) but it is really beautiful and you won’t meet many people. There are a couple of nice bars/restaurants, so you won’t starve!
The bungalow was clean and comfortable, the pool not very big but ok. As we did not appreciate their welcome, we did not use any of their other services, but the location is ok and their are plenty of restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Most tourists in Khao Lak are German or Swedish, which reflects in the offer of food in the restaurants.
The rooms are mind numbingly basic, but very clean, and cleaned every day.
Pool area, is small, but again very clean, and plenty of loungers available without the 6am towel dash by our German friends.
Food/restaurant, really bad, I mean pretty much inedible, sooooooooooooo glad we didn’t include breakfast in our room rate.
Service, well, wasn’t any really, apart from “Smiley” who seemed to be ploughing a lone furrow. We went down with food poisoning on our first day (not suggesting for a second this was Cousin resorts fault) and so we were largely confined to the resort grounds for about a week. As the hotel doesn’t provide tea coffee etc, I asked if I could have a sachet of sugar to make a cup of tea in the room, using a tea bag left by previous guest, and was told no, and to go to the supermarket!
I know hotel margins are very tight and not paying attention to them can mean the difference between profit and loss, but ONE sachet of sugar when badly ill and you cant get out????
I mean, come on guys!!!
Would I come back? Well for me, and for the above reason alone, of course not. However the real question you need to consider, is, are you looking for a stop off for old folks before the big sleep sets in, or, are you looking for a holiday/vacation? If the former, you’ll love the community feel, if the latter, try elsewhere.
