Newly refurbished to a very high standard , Billesley Manor is set in 11 acres of stunning parkland and manicured gardens, Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa is a stunning 16th century Elizabethan manor house. Located just 3 miles from Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon, this historic property is steeped in history and charm. Once referenced in the Domesday Book, the grounds feature an 11th century church and an ornate topiary garden, which was planted 125 years ago to replicate a chess board. Bedrooms combine traditional character with 21st century luxuries, options include a variety within the manor house or Cedar barns. The Stuart Restaurants and Great Hall offer the perfect backdrop for dinner with oak panelling, original fireplaces, first class food and attentive service. The Spa has everything you need to unwind and keep fit, relax in the beauty rooms and take advantage of the extensive range of Decleor therapy. When you spend the night at Billesley, you are sleeping where several, significant historical events occurred. It was here that Shakespeare put ink to paper and wrote sonnet ‘As You Like It’ and his granddaughter wed and it is reputed that he did too when he married Anne Hathaway. Enjoy all that Billesley Manor has to offer in this stunning setting.

We had 2 barn superior rooms for DBB. One room was on the ground floor and modern, the other was up in the eaves so had more character but both were well appointed although perhaps due to its height the upstairs room was only just warm enough. The general ambience was very good and comfortable, the staff were all very pleasant, and the grounds are lovely and would be most enjoyable in summer. We did not use the spa but the pool looked very good. We ate well and despite three niggles (see below) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go again. On check-in day we arrived early and had bar lunches. We then had to wait ages (well over half an hour) for our bill despite three requests, which rather shortened the afternoon. Dinner on the first night was very good but we were disappointed that apart from a daily special the menu was the same the following night, within only about 5 main courses. At breakfast, there was a very good cold buffet/continental breakfast, and also a very good traditional hot breakfast, but no alternatives such as haddock, kippers, eggs benedict/royale, etc. Porridge wasn't on the menu but was made on request. So while the food is excellent, the limited menu might be disappointing for a stay of more than two nights. They appeared to have several function rooms and we had the impression that they cater for lots of weddings and other events (although none while we were there) so as the bar and the restaurant (which spans two adjacent rooms) are fairly small for such a large hotel, we wonder how intrusive such events are for "ordinary" guests, and we feel sure that the barn rooms we had are a safer choice.

We came to this beautiful hotel for a 2 night break in January and it was just perfect. The building and the grounds are stunning and the ambience and atmosphere are an absolute delight. There were just a couple small things that we observed which were purely of a personal preference and they are as follows. Only one bath robe in the room and we are a couple. Small amount of teabags in the room - we asked for more on the Friday night only to find that the maid had removed them when she cleaned the room on the Saturday morning. Really??? The food was delicious however the portion size for the prawn starter and the cheese board was very small and disappointing. The blade of beef at £26.00 per plate boasted carrots and kale - 2 miniscule carrots and very little evidence of the kale added to a feeling of disappointment. The food is delicious there is no question about it but you do feel disappointed when presented with small plates. We ate in the bar on the Saturday night and the food was delicious however you are compromised by the height of the coffee tables that make it very difficult to eat in comfort. Such a shame as we were uncomfortable with this arrangement and it made things awkward, Our room was very comfortable and the bed was superb and extremely good we would definitely come back as we can bring our own tea bags and be more prepared for the portion sizes when we choose again. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of it and we have no complaints here. The staff are very friendly and hospitable and we felt very refreshed as we left having fully enjoyed our stay. We are a pair of cranky 60 somethings who are probably set in our ways but this by no means spoiled our stay. Room 34 was perfect for us and the tv and choice of channels made our stay even more relaxing. A lovely experience and a superb location with so much to offer.

The location is great. The facilities are very good, the room we had in the Barn was comfortable. Food was, on the whole, good. The Spa was very good with very helpful staff and, for our trip, not too busy.

Was really beautiful. Stayed overnight on a spa day. The views and hotel was lovely. Food was stunning and treated well by staff. Thought the spa should have a jacuzzi but otherwise an absolutely lovely stay away.
