Hm Alma De Bayahíbe boasts a picturesque location that many travelers appreciate for its beautiful grounds and direct beach access. Guests enjoy the resort's saltwater pools and diverse entertainment options, although some hope for more variety. While the hotel's atmosphere is generally lively, reviews on cleanliness and room maintenance are mixed, with some citing lapses in service.
Opinions on value are split, with additional charges for certain amenities contrasting with the affordable overall price for some guests. The service receives varied feedback; staff members are often friendly, yet service can be inconsistent.

I been in this hotel in March 2020 Very nice small hotel with nice atmosphere, nice staff, very well kept and clean. The hotel has three swimming pools with salt water and sea view and one with fresh water, The hotel does not have its own beach but from the hotel runs a bus to the public beach every 30 minutes from morning to late afternoon and it is very punctual, or you can walk about 10-15 minutes. The area is very safe, on the way a small village with grocery stores and souvenirs, and travel agencies.I recommend excursion to Saona island and whale watching,El Limon waterfall in Samana (I bought at Ital Cruise travel agent with Gianlucca, good value for a reasonable price) . There are no hotel sunbeds or freshwater showers on the beach. We preferred a hotel place there. there is a rocky shore with a pier, lifeguard, lifebuoy, beautiful clear water and you can jump into the water from the pier or from the rocks and snork.
Rooms large, clean, well-kept with a small fridge (only water on the first day), flat TV and fast free internet. Safe payable.
Food - less choice than other hotels, but delicious and always something to choose from. Only one a la carte restaurant and one snack bar open during the day between main meals serving delicious pizza, burgers, hot dogs and fries.
In the evening, animations in the open air and live music combined with a disco and dancing, nice atmosphere.
During my stay there were no problem with sunbeds aviability on pool area and not to many local people on weekends how I heard from others people opinion.
Overall, the hotel is small and modest compared to other resorts, but with a great atmosphere and great staff. A hotel totally different from all others.
I highly recommend it.

First of all, this hotel gets good reviews because it is a lovely, clean, friendly place for a relaxing time.Plenty of sunbeds and shades to watch pelicans flying over, seawater infinity pool is amazing and 4 other pools-including a jacuzzi.
Reading other reviews you will note that the manager responds to issues,(when he is told about them)he is very approachable and around the complex most days.
Staff are excellent and are smiley especially if you are, some don't speak much English but if you try your French or Spanish you can have a laugh with them.
Entertainment was varied and throughout the day and evening, the staff work hard to ensure there is something for everyone.
Beach is great and only 15 minutes stroll through the town shops, you might feel pestered by the locals who are keen for you to visit their shop, they are trying to make a living, but if you just say 'no'or walk around the back streets you could see something more of their culture and lifestyle. The hotel have a free shuttle bus if you prefer.
Lets Let's face it All inclusive food can be repetitive, but we were never hungry and there was always something to please anyone, especially if you vary your own diet.Try the al a'carte restaurant,Sushi or snack bar where there's lovely pizza, chips and Chicken. At breakfast there were omelettes and eggs being prepared on order, fresh breads and pastries.
Our only 'issues' were they don't cater for the English HURRAH!!! we go abroad for an experience of different countries and people.
The bar+ pool areas only have 2 toilets which could be a problem if its busy season.
My worries beforehand about safety were totally dispelled as we never felt anything other than welcomed in this fantastic location and hotel.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The food tonight was authentic Dominican and it was incredible! Jhodelmi is a great server - so attentive and kind. I was a female eating alone and he made me feel very comfortable. He was always making sure that my water glass was always full and even remembered my preference of Diet Coke on my next visit. The staff here work very hard to ensure their guests are happy. And the entertainment team is so warm, fun and welcoming.
Also, resort is small and not at all crowded, so you can always get a cabana which is a bonus. For the price, this is a great stay. Rooms are exceptionally large and clean!!! Just be sure to bring $3 USD per to use their safe, if you feel you need to.

We did not expect a 5T hotel which is what we have usually stayed in with TUI but hoped that the standard of the rooms, facilities and food would have been better. The first room we were given had water leaking from the wall, was small and the lights didn’t work. The next was ok -very basic facilities but clean. No water in fridge. Had to take own bottles to water dispenser on ground floor.
We had to wait about 10 minutes for the showers to warm up and the drain in the bathroom was blocked so water did not clear quickly. The staff were (mostly) very friendly and helpful, especially the cleaners and bar staff at beach bar. But the food was unimaginative and basic- stews and pasta dishes on the whole. Lunch time was best to get fresh dishes as by the evening, it was dried up and re-hashed. The wine was like water. All the ‘local ‘ spirits were so weak that we never even felt like we had had a drink! There was on alternative restaurant but unless you paid extra, you may as well have eaten in the Buffet. We never even tried the Sushi restaurant as it was always empty and very expensive. The coffee served in the buffet was appalling and this is from a country which prides itself on its coffee production. The only place to get a decent cup of coffee was at the beach bar and the machine there broke down as often as it worked. Also this was the only place to sit and socialize in the evenings on hard plastic seats and there weren’t enough of those or tables. Drinks are served in flimsy plastic cups. I tried to take a ceramic cup out of the restaurant but it was taken off me by a most unfriendly maitre d. I did complain about the amount of plastic wasted in this hotel.
The pools and ‘beach’ areas were the best part. The grounds were immaculate and the sunsets to die for!
We tried the entertainment but apart from the acrobat group who were good, it was always a cheap option at best.
We had a few trips out as we were warned not to hire a car as the roads are dangerous. Unfortunately we had a bad experience on one trip when the coach crashed into another truck. This meant that we lost 2 hours waiting on the motorway for a replacement coach when we should have been whale watching. The Tui rep was very kind and did his best but it was an expensive trip and ( so far) we haven’t heard from TUI about this.
This could be a lovely resort but it needs to have better facilities and a soft seating area for drinks/ coffee other than the beach bar.

The hotel is absolutely ran down. Our room (a luxury one) had a hole above the door so you could hear every noise from the hall. The staff at the restaurant were terrible. Staff at the bar also awful (one snapped his fingers when I was thinking what to ask). This is a two star hotel at best, period.
You have to take a bus to the beach. You can swim in the ocean at the hotel but is near the rocks and with quite a rough sea. Pools had murky water. The pools have nice views but the cracks around them and the cloudy water made them very unappetising. The food from the snack bar was bad except the pizza which was edible.
Although we did not take part, we did see the two entertaining team members making great efforts to include guests.
The saxophonist at night could have been nice if it wasn't because the playlist was on a system that constantly had a crackling noise on it. I wonder if they did not think to lower the music or try to fix the speaker. Awful. At the bar, I asked for a bottle of water, not available. Took a glass of water to my room for the night. Seriously, only if you are paying very, very little for your holiday and you are under 25 so your body is only interested to drink extremely cheap alcohol.

Firstly we enjoyed our stay at the Whala! bayahibe but it’s not worth a 5 star rating.
Hotel/ accommodation
The hotel itself is fine although the rooms are in need of some attention. Basic repairs are required we found broken fittings, cupboards wouldn’t close and paint work peeling.
We had to ask for towels to be replaced several times, bedding is only changed occasionally and rooms only appear to have a quick clean daily, not a thorough clean!
Grounds/ location
Top notch, the gardens are kept so tidy and obviously the staff work very hard to keep it to a high standard. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the water and within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
Pools are amazing whichever you choose to use, great facilities.
Food
The food is buffet style and is repetitive but we always found something to eat. They do however need to look at the way the food is held as more often than not it’s warm not hot!
Snack bar is a good feature and available during most of the day.
Great coffee at restaurant and pool bar.
Staff
On the whole they were ok! Not amazing overall but with a few gems that raise the standards
We would recommend a stay here but it could really be a 3 star in Spain, Greece or anywhere.
It’s not a 5 star rated hotel, so please go but don’t expect that quality.

Dear customer, We want to thank you for the time you have spent in sending us your comments. We regret that you say the food was not hot, but in the last days several modifications have been carried out in order to improve. We want to explain the topic of towels. In the rooms there is a sign that explains to customers that if they wish to change the towels they must leave them on the floor for the cleaner to replace them. On the other hand, our hotel is a 4 star hotel. It is not a 5 star hotel as you comment. Ultimately, we are glad to know that the facilities and service you liked. We hope that in your next vacation you will choose us again to give you the opportunity to please you again. Kind regards,

Holiday 20 Feb to 5 March 2020 HotelWhala Bayahibe. This was my third visit to Dominican Republic with TUI and my expectations were high as the last two holidays were excellent. We did some research on this hotel and on balance it seemed OK.
So, flight good, transfer good, booking in at reception good, room good. From here on in it was downhill. The food left a lot to be desired, it was often luke warm. (we were told 'well there is a microwave available if you want to heat it up'). The only thing I found palatable was the fish. The restaurant staff were surly and concentrated on clearing tables instead of serving drinks etc. They seemed to be there under duress. There is no lounge for a comfortable place to sit for a quiet drink or chat. The only area is at a bar outside with a very small covered area to sit on uncomfortable plastic garden chairs. When the entertainment was on the music was so loud it was impossible to chat. When it rained the entertainment staff had to mop the floor before they did their bit. The snack bar was awful, the hot dogs and burgers were terrible and looked as though they had been there for days, all dried up. Pizzas straight out of the oven were the only palatable thing there. There is no beach at the hotel but on the upside there was a bus every half hour to a public beach where of course you had to pay for beds and umbrellas and drinks at exorbitant prices. We will not be returning to this hotel and we feel let down by TUI.

Im not sure if my opinion is skewed from having been to other resorts or being an American but this facility is extremely disappointing. I dont know where these positive reviews are coming from. When checking in which is in a little hut (far from an average normal resort lobby) with only two people that are at reception, (who are somewhat rude and awful at their job) the wait was immense as there seems to be a long line all throughout the day there. I had to ask four times to receive soap and toilet paper as my room did not have any...My room was large but upon going in I found the tv to not be working and requested three days in a row for it to be fixed just for it to be pushed off and still not working. There is also water leaking through the window every morning leaving water all over the floor by the window which I let them know as well. The property itself is one of the smallest I've seen for a resort with three overcrowded pools, no gym, no restaurants, nothing of significance. The buffet is aggressively mediocre, the wait staff are the only people that are the only staff that genuinely are decent here. The "restaurant" is a little makeshift gazebo that serves what I think is buffet food over by the water, so nothing to write home about. All in all general idea, save your money and spend a little more on a real resort like the dreams dominicus la romana or any other big name resort which actually makes your trip worthwhile. Even the beach is a shuttle ride away, literally nothing redeems this hotel in my opinion. I deeply regret choosing this resort. (pictures soon to come)

To make it easiest, here some pros and cons, which show why we rated the hotel at a 3:
Pros: beautiful location, great sunsets, not overly crowded in late December, warm Caribbean waters, clean and pretty salt pools, clean overall, good drinks, landscaping with many palm trees (no flowers), quiet overall at night, mellow vacationers (rather mixed: mixed generations, families, couples, diversity, etc.)
Cons: simple rooms with bathrooms that could do with a makeover, some problems with shower got resolved after 2 days, food: no great shakes, but New Year's Eve dinner quite good, snack bar food not great, staff: some nice, others rather neutral, no direct access to a sand beach (public beach, which can be reached by shuttle is rather ugly), entertainment: not super.
In summary, I would list the hotel at three stars in comparison to many other vacation spots we have stayed at. In the end, it's on the lower price scale, which therefore explains why it isn't that fancy either. We had a really nice time, no matter what, but it isn't the place for those who expect a lot of luxury or variety in food.
