Our passion for the food, wine and history of the area and our local knowledge means that we can show you the hidden gems of Tuscany that the ordinary tourist would never find. Our infinity pool with its views over the Val d'Orcia and our large veranda mean that we are also the perfect destination to relax and unwind. We had booked BelSentiero in July 2019 for a visit in June 2020. Due to COVID we were unable to travel but Jan was so communicative and understanding in helping us to finally make the trip in June 2021. And, oh was it worth the wait! BelSentiero is the place to stay if you want to explore the less touristy, picturesque villages of Tuscany as well as the more well known Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano. Jan was the perfect host and was a wealth of knowledge and recommended places to visit that we would never have found in a tour guide. He made reservations on our behalf to restaurants, a cooking class, a local organic farm tour, wine tasting, etc. and nothing was too much trouble. We had wonderful views from our large bedroom with walk-in closet and each morning looked forward to breakfast outside overlooking Val D'Orcia. We also enjoyed meeting Jan's partner, Renzo and visited his bar in the local village of Campiglia D"Orcia a few times. They were also in the process of building a spectacular edge pool on the property, nearing completion, which will perfect the BelSentiero Estate. Cannot recommend it highly enough!

From the moment we arrived at BelSentiero I knew we were in for a treat. We were greeted by the owner, Jan, who gave us a tour and had prosecco waiting for us as a special treat. We were five couples visiting for our 50th birthdays. Jan expertly explained the best places to visit and what to do at each location, all conveniently located between thirty minutes to an hour from the villa -- amazing villages with delectable wines and other Italian fare. Conveniently, there is an excellent vineyard and olive oil maker right across the street. Our group toured the facility and tasted wines paired with excellent foods.
The grounds of the villa are beautiful; the view from the infinity pool area is stunning. There is a spacious covered gathering space outside (just past a lane of lemon trees) where we could enjoy each other's company till the late hours of the evening. We were even able to use a few of the lemons for our drinks, as well as some of the vegetables from the garden. We were able to be relaxed because we had the whole villa to ourselves.
The rooms were all equally lovely, each with their own ensuite bathroom. The beds felt luxurious and super comfortable. Many of the rooms also had spectacular views. No one was disappointed!
Since Jan is well connected in the area, he was able to arrange a pasta cooking class for us at the villa which was a delicious experience with an expert chef named Asia. The sunset over the valley while we made our pastas will be etched in my memory for quite some time! Jan also arranged a delicious grill night at the villa, complete with local meats and vegetables. The gathering room inside was perfect for dinners and breakfasts, and great spot for our group to just hang out and enjoy each other's company.
In sum, you cannot go wrong with BelSentiero. I'm just sad we had to leave! I hope to make it back some day.

The last 7 days of our Italy vacation were spent at the beautiful BelSetiero in the heart of Val d'Orcia. Of our 3 weeks in Italy, our favorite was this final week. As part of the Villa's Food and Wine Experience, we experienced the best that Tuscany has to offer. Our host, Jan Greenan, created a week of experiences that we would have never done on our own, and we would have never know about the many wonderful venues and fun things to do without him. From the minute Jan picked us up at the train station in Siena, to our goodbyes at the Rome airport, we were wined, dined and treated like royalty. Our week was filled with visits to local wineries, such as Avignonese and Montemercurio, fun filled truffle hunting with Pierre Paulo, pasta making classes at Podere il Casale with Sondra, and cheese factory tour with Giuseppe at Fattoria Pianporcino. Can't forget the beautiful gardens at La Foce. Also visits to the charming and historical villages of Montepulciano, Campiglia, Montalcino and Pienza. Another highlight was the fantastic BBQ at BelSentiero prepared by the multi-talented Renzo Chirinos. Our final night we had dinner at the fabulous Michelin-Starred il Silene. We cannot thank Jan and Renzo enough for the sensational week (not having to drive was a bonus) We have promised to return and we are looking forward to that day. Our vacation of a lifetime has come to an end but the memories we made will last forever.

The location of BelSentiero is ideal. Just outside of Campiglia d'Orcia, in the Southern part of the Val d'Orcia, it has an absolutely breathtaking view over the valley – as far as Pienza even. This view is even more stunning now that the new infinity pool has been completed and it looks truly spectacular.
We spent a week at BelSentiero in August and it was by far one of the best vacations we have ever had. Jan and Renzo have recently renovated the building and it's absolutely beautiful. They are amazing hosts, as Jan knows everything there is to know about culture, restaurants, wine and olive oil and we had one of the best Tagliere of our lives at Renzo's – don't miss out on it! Besides that, we also enjoyed all of the personal conversations we had with both of them.
We are definitely planning on coming back and visiting this beautiful place again in the future

An amazing location and extremely attentive and knowledgeable host, this was my first experience of Italy, safe to say I’ve fallen in love with the place and can’t wait to go back to explore some more! We had an absolutely wonderful 3 days exploring the beautiful Val d’Orcia, having flown into Pisa and made the drive down to BelSentiero via Sienna. We visited Montepulchiano and Pienza during our stay, which were a short car journey away. We strolled through the town, sampled the local wine, cheeses and antipasti, and browsed the local shops.
We took a walk up to the bell tower in the village, explored the natural hot springs at San Filippo and ate at local restaurants and cafe’s which were expertly recommended to us by our host - Jan. We spent time relaxing and cooling off around the infinity pool and hot tub all surrounded by the beautifully kept gardens and most scenic views.
Our rooms were beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean, the bed was huge and extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed, a kettle, fridge, hair dryer, ample wardrobe space, a safe for valuables and total black out blinds which made for an excellent nights sleep!
I have no hesitation in recommending BelSentiero as a place to stay, explore, relax and discover the delights of Tuscany. Thank you Jan for making us feel so welcome. I do hope to be back again soon!

The Val d'Orcia is a really beautiful and special area with it medieval villages, landscapes, thermal springs, wineries and opportunities to eat well! I wish there were 10 stars!!! BelSentiero is just incredible. Jan, the owner, is warm and friendly and a really great host. We rented out the entire villa for a week for our family holiday. Jan recommended daytrips steering us to beautiful authentic Tuscan villages which weren’t bustling with all the usual tourists in the bigger towns. Beautiful!! Jans partner catered for us for two of the nights and the food was amazing and absolutely delicious. The rim flow pool was our magnet especially in the heat and there nothing better than having a pool with an incredible view of the hills of the Val D’Orcia. Being higher up in the hills meant slightly cooler weather which was a reprieve in the heat. The 5 bedrooms were luxurious and I have to admit as a poor sleeper I slept like a log. All in all I highly recommend BelSentiero you will not be sorry!

What a wonderful property and gracious host! We spent several days exploring Tuscany on our own and BelSentiero was our home base. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. Continental breakfast was served every morning in the dining room with the other guests. Jan was full of awesome suggestions for places to visit and dine. He couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was perfect. The views from the veranda are spectacular! In addition to the beautiful countryside, we also saw a wild boar roaming in the fields. I would definitely stop here on another visit if I find myself in the Val d'Orcia region again.
