Lovely owner Kate. The amenities are nice and modern and clean. Kate has put a lot of thought into the property with powered and non-powered sites and studio rooms and villa. There is a huge washing machine and dryer available and full kitchen, you can even buy supplies there. Kate kindly picked us up from Hokitika after we had completed a bike trip and gave us a ride back. Highly recommend this place, nice and safe with a good vibe. Kate also teaches yoga in her studio there.

We stayed for a night in Lolly the Caravan. It had rained all day and again overnight so not ideal weather for cycling The Wilderness Trail. However, Kate welcomed us warmly; Lolly was a delightful, comfortable space; there was plenty of hot water in the shower; the kitchen area had all the equipment needed, even the extra of a small store of food supplies, and all our fellow guests were cheerful, including those in tents on the wet grass. We made the most of our stop over in this lovely place and enjoyed the camaraderie of sharing cycling stories. Next morning, having slept well, we set off under wet, grey shies to cycle the few metres to rejoin the trail, refreshed and re-energised.

Great unique refuge partially built withy Christchurch earthquake building materials giving it an original style. Spent a couple of days there holed up due to bad weather. The owner and staff were very flexible and accommodating. Great features, like honesty box for food that creates a trusting, open atmosphere..

I was disappointed by the facilities during my visit (this winter, during cold weather). The woman who runs the premises, although friendly, did not provide sufficient wood to keep the house warm (I had conveyed to her that I was recovering from a recent injury). ie. in the morning the house was freezing and no wood provided. also, the heater in the bedroom did not work properly. I was dismayed also to find that the access to the front door had slippery, slimy unstable stone pavers very loosely nestled in sand...even when I pointed it out to staff nothing was done. Lovely old historic house done up beautifully but not recommended for anyone who isn't prepared (in winter) for freezing cold house! Also had disappointing experience, tried to run myself a hot bath (which would have been lovely) but the bath plug was old and the water continued to leak out of the bath! Not very nice experience especially when in such a cold house. Take lots of warm clothes and a hot water bottle if you go there in winter. In summer there would be no issues and she did say she would replace bath plug as soon as possible. Lovely historic old house and very clean.

Love this place! Have stayed before in my camper van but this time I was cycling the west coast wilderness trail so booked the Nest room. Came in wet and cold, had a great hot shower, got comfy in my room on a provided bean bag with a provided hot water bottle and provided rug - hot drink beside me and my book in hand. It was bliss after a 'bit of a day of it' on the trail.
Words like comfort, homeliness and warmth (especially radiating from Kate the owner, but also there are heaters in the rooms) all come to mind. Its peaceful, really clean and I feel good value for money. Lots of hidden extra's (like there are a few things you can buy if you have forgotten food items for example). The communal kitchen is well set up. There is a laundry but I haven't needed to try that. Small lounge called The Den. Also a large container with bike stands in it which I used and thought another asset to Greenstone.
Last time I was introduced to Yin Yoga (comfort involved in that as well I found) and have been practising it ever since.
Happy to recommend. I cant imagine anyone being disappointed with their stay here.

From the hot water bottles on the beds to the well stocked kitchen 'store' nothing escaped the attentive care of the host. Kate was responsive, flexible and positive to communicate with. Highly recommended.

This campground is just the perfect place to rest and recharge while exploring the West Coast! We stayed two nights, and were greeted by the wonderful Kate and signed up for yoga the next night. There were loads of dishes and appliances to use in the shared kitchen, and there was a really cosy den/communal space to hangout in during the cooler time of year.

We stayed two nights, and luckily were able to experience Kate's yoga instruction after some great day hikes around the area. She was a wonderful instructor, and it was exactly what I needed for my body and soul.

The toilets and showers were kept clean, and the tenting area is surrounded by trees to block out the wind and from too many passersby. I heard they were fully booked while we stayed, but it certainly didn't feel like it.

Would absolutely return if driving through the area again!

This is a beautiful peaceful place with spotlessly clean rooms and facilities and a lovely garden. The shower is hot. There is a covered kitchen area and Kate had a very good selection of reasonably priced items of key food staples. As hungry cyclists it was great to be able buy some extras for breakfast and the next day The bikes were out of the weather too. I hope to stay again.

Hi Penny. Thank you for your question. Yes I have unpowered sites at this stage. I am waiting on the powered sites to be put in over the next few months. At this stage spaces will be on a first come first served basis between the hours of 4pm and 8pm. When the powered sites are in, bookings will be through my website. thanks. Kate
