The Intercontinental Ras Al Khaimah Resort and Spa, an IHG Hotel, is frequently celebrated for its prime location with stunning ocean views and tranquil surroundings. While reviewers offer high marks for the hotel's modern atmosphere and well-maintained amenities, including the extensive pools and clean beach, some guests suggest there's room for improvement in terms of sunbed availability and pool upkeep. Though the service garners praise for the staff's attentiveness, incidents of slow check-in have been noted. Mixed sentiments are expressed regarding value, with some travelers finding certain amenities to justify the cost despite others citing room issues. Guests generally admire the spacious and well-equipped rooms, though occasional maintenance and noise complaints related to nearby construction are mentioned.

One Word - WOW

We stayed here as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (7&5) in May. We were upgraded to a family sea view villa which was absolutely amazing and would highly recommend if you get the opportunity.

Check in was super speedy and efficient even though we arrived at 2am.

The room was beautifully appointed and immaculately clean.

The resort is large and a buggy tour is a must to get orientated.

The restaurants are superb with a fantastic quality offer with a diverse and interesting menu on offer. The buffet restaurant is used for breakfast and lunch and can get busy at some points but plan ahead and you will be fine. The food is of excellent quality and there is a constant hot supply. We also ate at NoHo which is an American style diner with a large range of meats on offer all of which was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. We also ate at Levant, this is a Turkish style eatery and was equally as good but with an even better view looking out to sea, I would highly recommend the sea food platter here and of course eating outside. The cocktails here are amazing too, well worth a try.

The main pool is very well appointed with facilities for both couples and families alike. There is also plenty of space, although it does get busy at weekends when you might need to get up a little early to get your preferred bed.

ShaSha bar (pool bar) is well positioned and offers a great range of drinks and bar snacks. The team were fantastic and looked after us so well, would recommend working your way through the cocktail menu.

Now the best bit and what really makes this hotel special and that is the staff teams, every single member of staff went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing and memorable holiday. To name a few.
Martin Hilton - Director of Spa and Entertainment - Always around making sure all the guests were looked after.
Mariella - From corresponding with us prior to arrival to looking after every aspect of our stay, she is a real testament to the hotel and made our stay really special, thank you so much.
Dee (ShaSha) - He and his team looked after our every wish in and around the pool bar, they couldn’t do enough for us. Bikram was also brilliant looking after us and the children ensuring we stayed hydrated and never without a drink.
Buffet Restaurant - All the staff here made a huge effort to look after us and make our daughters birthday a day to remember but a couple of special mentions
F&B Manager - From the 1st day got to know us and our family to ensure we were well looked after
Akram & Jenny - Making a fuss of us and the children on each visit, looking after our every wish.
Levant - Roman - New to the team but was brilliant engaging with all of us.
NoHo - Susan - What a star!! Looking after our every need and critically ensuring the food was something the children would like.

We generally stay at the Waldorf Astoria down the road but were excited to check out this new property that has just opened.
So first things first…the resort is beautiful. The pool and the surrounding spaces are beautiful and very modern. The pool temperature was perfect and the whole space was very well spread out with the babies /younger kids in separate bits of the pool. There is an adult pool but it looked very dead and is totally cut off from the rest of the resort.
The beach was small but overall quite nice although I’m not sure why the purple flag was up since we saw no dangerous wildlife.
Since my husband is an Elite Member we were upgraded to a higher floor. The rooms are small but modern and minimalist and the bathrooms are sleek but very small.
Now the food. Barring Noho, the food was very basic and disappointing. We ended up going to the Japanese at the Waldorf. The pool cafe was unable to cope with the capacity of visitors. The waiters were quite slow because they were understaffed. However it was great to see senior management staff around, trying to get things working!
So would I go again? Yes because we loved the pool which is our priority for a staycation.
Recommendations - improve the food and service. The corridors were freezing so some temperature control is needed. The concierge service needs to be improved as well - they were quite unresponsive in helping us getting a table anywhere for dinner. And perhaps have some water sports given that it is a beach resort.

PS. There are no covid protocols at all. No one was asked to wear a mask even indoors. This wasn't a concern for us but if someone is still paranoid, you will not be able to stay here.

Dear Mahine A, Thank you for your review, we are happy to read that you had such an enjoyable stay with us! We are also very honored that you took the time to share your experiences about the resort. We are glad that you enjoyed our beautiful resort with amazing unobstructed view of the sea. Hence, a warning sign is raised for safety purposes. We had a fantastic stay in mid February.

Since the hotel had a soft opening we as a family were among the first 100 guests that this dream resort had. We really enjoyed our one bedroom suite. The interior design is stunning and of high quality. Everything from the bathtub to the living room was very beautiful. High speed wifi made a couple work appointments a blast.

Our whole family (2 adults and 3 kids) enjoyed the pristine beach (crystal clear water) and the pools (heated to comfortable 30°C/86F) all over the resort. Lifeguards everywhere made us feel very safe with our youngest still learning how to swim. It was the perfect mix.

From a cuisine perspective we enjoyed international food and arab cuisine at Saffar.
At the intercontinental club we had great snacks and appetizers. It was actually the first club with its own pool that we have ever experienced. A true highlight was also the Turkish cuisine in the Levant restaurant overlooking the Arabian sea.

The entire team was extremely helpful and accomodating. A couple people stood out to us.
Gerald gave us a lovely golf cart tour around the resort and advised us on where to go for a hike in the mountains.
Aran the Duty Manager took really good care of us the entire time.

Thank you for a lovely getaway from cold Europe with a very comfortable stay in one of the best resorts we have ever been to. We will definitely return.

Cheers, Marcus

My wife and I came for the EID weekend and booked the villa with private pool and terrace for 2 nights.
The catalogue of issues was ridiculous especially considering we have paid circa usd 3k for the stay.
Most times we called the concierge to request a buggy to transport us as my wife is pregnant and the villas are at the other end of the resort nobody answered. We tried call numbers available and only in room dining were available!
Our room was next to a restaurant and often staff would come out the back and watch us in the pool in the evening which made my wife hugely uncomfortable. One evening we actually had a fellow guest at the resort walk around the villa at night and come onto the terrace while we were in the pool- clearly not what one would expect given the privacy one would assume we would have.
I requested a pool technician one evening and after 2 hours nobody came so we decided to carry on with our plans for dinner. Whilst asleep at 11.15pm we had a knock on the door and it was the pool technician who turned up 4 hrs later whilst we were in bed !
Breakfast was completely disorganised each day with a lack of tables and staff unable to cope.
I actually had a meeting with the manager to discuss the issues and explain my unhappiness and frankly his excuses were not acceptable. He then thought offering us some lunch or my wife a massage (after we had already completed one for her) would be an acceptable way to repay the poor experience we had suffered. He even suggested that my wife seemed fine and it was me who did not seem happy - not understanding that as a pregnant lady she did not want to have any additional stress.
In a nutshell at this price point of nearly 3k usd for 2
Nights you would be better off in another hotel with private pool in the UAE. The only positive I would say is that the room itself is very nice and the manager of the restaurant Noha actually was a very nice gentleman who tried his best to look after us.
Plenty of room to improve but if you are really wanting good service and a 5 star experience this is not the place for you - well behind competitors.
Roni

I have a lot of mixed feelings on our stay at this Intercontinental. My wife and I were interested to stay here since it was, essentially, brand new when we got there. The food, drinks, and beach/pool areas were nice, but those were the highlights. We were not impressed with the staff and some of the construction of our room. Pre-trip, the staff emailed me to submit our stay details. I filled out the form and sent it to them. It was obvious they never opened it, or simply didn't do anything about it. I said it was our 10-year anniversary that we were celebrating. There were no complimentary items, such as a bottle of wine or some chocolates (anything) to help us celebrate. Granted, not a big deal, but it was a sign that the customer service needs some work. We felt they were understaffed for the number of rooms they have and the finishing touches they were still trying to do (they were literally planting palm trees when we arrived even though they had been accepting guests for a few weeks).

Our biggest complaint was that our shower area had a bad angle to the floor, so a LOT of water ran from the shower area into the toilet area. We let the front desk know about the issue. Yes, they had someone come in a clean up the water, but no one came in to put in a strip along the shower to prevent water from running into the toilet area the next time we took a shower. We were disappointed in that because we were told someone would come in to try to engineer a fix. We also found some gaps in finishing touches (sealant, paint, construction tape not removed) that indicated they really rushed to open and made some mistakes doing so. Also, we let them know in the form that we needed a ride back to the airport. We checked with them a day after we arrived to make sure the ride was lined up, and it hadn't been. Fortunately we checked. We also felt we had more difficulties with being understood by this staff. Yes, they spoke English, but it was more challenging to communicate with them than I normally experience when I travel overseas. It may have been because they were busy getting ready for a convention that weekend. Don't know, but they seemed overwhelmed every time we spoke with them.

Major safety concern on our part was that the balcony door wouldn't lock. That was an issue because they way they constructed the building, once someone was on the ledge, they could go to any room on that floor. If someone decided to do that, they would have found easy access to our room since we couldn't get the balcony door to lock.

If you want to go here simply to have some good food and drinks and lay by the pool, you'll probably have a good time. Our room needs some serious attention and the staff (while kind) needs some help, so it really put a damper on the stay.

Ultimately, we checked out a day early since we were so underwhelmed by the hotel, even though we had booked by points. We made a great decision to leave early as the Marriott we picked had what this resort lacked (attention to detail).

Dear Kevin S, Thank you for choosing InterContinental and for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience at InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah. I would like to start thanking you for the constructive comments and we take each feedback very seriously. We do note on the short-comings you experienced during your stay. While we appreciate each of our staffs by giving them room to grow, strengthening their weakness and celebrating their strength, we also appreciate guests’ feedback like yours on how to elevate their strength further. As a new resort of about 4 weeks old, with ongoing trainings and better experiences, we are very confident that our staffs will mature like great wine. Thank you again for staying with us and your enthusiastic feedback. We hope to welcome you back soon to show you how we have implemented the changes and constantly improving. The most expensive room type "beach front pool Villa" is very nice but has no direct beach access and the beach is not visible when in the pool or on sun loungers, totally covered by landscape for privacy. A hidden discreet path way and different landscape could resolve this easily.

Beautiful bath room insufficient hot water to have a warm bath, leave alone hot bath. Great shower heads but low water pressure prevents benefitting from it.
Called guest service for 5 requests: remote control without battery, additional shower caps, towels, turndown etc. Most forgotten except turndown and towels. Housekeeping left spare pillow cases on a chair and did not replenish used amenities ever.
Some of the room features are over-designed and not user friendly, designers had obviously the last word or the operators missed it, (sliding doors conflict with safe, plenty of opportunities to squeeze fingers between doors etc etc.)
We would rate this property 5 stars and go back regularly for a short break, if we were sure that the service issues and beach access was fixed, but not recommend to anyone to select the high priced room types in the meantime, despite the fact that it's a lovely, posh hotel with very friendly team members.

Dear JurgenF725, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we truly appreciate it. I am pleased to hear that you loved the beauty of the property with working friendly staff there but disappointed that landscape, not having direct beach access from villa and missing requests from team unfortunately didn’t meet your 5-star expectations. We take all feedback very seriously, so will definitely share with related department heads, work and ensure that this doesn’t happen again. We hope to welcome you back soon! This review is only regarding the massage at InterContinental RAK. I got the UAE massage. Michelle was an amazing therapist. She released all my knots and made sure to not put too much pressure so as to make my muscles sore. To avoid the muscles from becoming sore she even used hot stone therapy, which wasn’t included in my treatment but she did it any way since she knew that’s what my body needed. Very intuitive, quick to understand the muscles and where she needs to spend more time relieving stress. My massage room bed, temperature, and lights was very comfortable and adjusted according to my preference. Music was soothing. All basic essentials with a massage were present- scrub and clean feet before massage, disposable underwear, shower and wc. They do not have a steam attached to the shower, however they do that a Turkish hammam in the spa area which can be used for an additional cost. This has a steam as well. It was a great, relaxing experience and I recommend one must get a massage here if in the vicinity.

Just back from a nine night stay in a club room at the Intercontinental and already missing being totally spoiled by the amazing club team. Breakfast in the very peaceful and comfortable setting of the club lounge made an easy start to every day. Anything you fancy is freshly made and always tasty. Every afternoon the most delicious afternoon tea with a completely different selection of sandwiches and sweet treats. The chef really must have his work cut out to provide such original recipes. Evening Cocktails and Canapés which every day are on a changing theme. Hot and cold canapés and as many you want with a varied cocktail menu of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. Can recommend the mixologist creation which was fabulous. Add to this all the complementary soft drinks you can get all day and night, the exclusive use of the adult only swimming pool and club area sun loungers and it has to be the best club package ever!
The rest of the hotel is lovely too with three restaurants to chose from and another swimming pool and great seating and sun bathing areas. We were on half board and ate at Noho and Saffir finding lots of choices and no complaints there from us.
The beach is clean and private with lots of loungers and umbrellas. There are lifeguards on duty at both the pools and on the beach and plus you can get drinks and snacks served to your loungers.
Our room was exceptional with a huge balcony with a lovely double wicker lounger which we used every evening to watch the amazing sunsets. The king size bed was very comfortable and we had table and armchairs too.
Probably the most important thing which I haven’t mentioned is how clean everywhere in the hotel is. Our bedroom was cleaned everyday before 2pm and we found it to be spotless and very welcoming.
I’m not going to mention anyone by name because every single member of staff from the guys outside opening our arrival taxi door to the efficient friendly reception staff checking us in to the absolutely brilliant club team to the outside pool and beach guys to the waiters and chefs to the cleaners throughout the hotel every single one of you deserve a huge pat on the back. This hotel has absolutely got its priorities right in every area.
Hope I haven't left anything out but there was a lot of good things to say.

Having stayed in many many resorts within the UAE I have to say, this place is immaculate. The rooms are spacious, modern and well equipped. The free standing bathtubs with seaview are absolutely amazing. The hotel is clean and the beach and pool areas are stunning. The breakfast buffet has options for everybody. I would like to give special thanks to Moses at the pool and beach area who always made sure we had enough water and towels. His uplifting spirit made the whole experience even better. Also a big thank you to Margret and Baishno who always made our room look immaculate. Coming back to the room while cleaning they always made sure we could enter without any problems. IHG hotels can never disappoint, they provide the best of facilities, rooms, food, space & everything possible. This property is equally good. They have multiple swimming pools, Indoor games, cycling, kids club, teens club, club lounge, restaurants, etc. There is definitely something for everyone.

Having visited the resort in Fujairah where the dining area was a big square hall with well spaced out tables, this one has not been planned well to cater specifically for busy times. Saffar breakfast restaurant has an L-shaped dining area, some tables have also been laid out on other indoor nook & corners. There were equal number of adults & children around 9:00 am, most kids under 7 years for whom the area was a playground & they were running everywhere in excitement. I could only foresee tripping hazards.

Would give a BIG THANK YOU to a staff member "Aye" who would quietly clear the plates, no unnecessary conversations & was just around trying to help everyone. The staff at the club lounge were super helpful too, thank you very much for the great hospitality during our visit :) Would like to visit again in the winters when staying outdoors would be a pleasure.

I stayed at this hotel in February this year on an all inclusive package and I think the dine around wording means that you can dine in the other restaurants at the resort . You have to book them but they are included in the all inclusive package. Hope this helps 🤞🏻😊

A daily/nightly tourist tax is added to the final bill. We stayed all inclusive and did not pay any service charge.
