Overall, Antiresort was perfect for our families. The beach bungalows with the long porches offer an amazing view of the waves - we’ve never slept that close to the ocean. The beach at that spot is rocky and pretty much inaccessible, but a black sandy
beach is about 50 yards away. The bed set up was perfect for a family of 3, or 4. Rooms were simple and clean, AC worked great, and housekeeping kept the small fridge stocked regularly with a variety of beverages, granola bars and snickers. Bedding was comfortable but very light weight.

Easy to order food to go, or eat at the restaurant. But know that the pace here is relaxed. The food was really good to great, fresh ingredients. Staff was warm and wonderful - always helpful.

The “Nawi” beach club is where the restaurant is located, and most days the beach club is busy with day visitors. It can be somewhat of a scene, as you can tell by the Nawi Instagram, but it usually clears out by 5. As well traveled, adventurous families, that have stayed in basic to luxury hotels all over the world, the Instagram/influencer scene at Nawi (selfies and posing etc) seemed incongruous with the true vibe of Mizata and the Antiresort. Mizata is a special place with lovely and friendly people.

The pool at Nawi is really nice but adults only. The pool at Antiresort was fine for the kids. We hung out at the Antiresort pool because it felt more private. The kids can eat at Nawi and hang out over there they just can’t use the pool.

Antiresort is simple and casual. We barely wore shoes, and kids made themselves at home. Easy for the kids to free range, safely. Every morning we got up early to drink coffee in our PJs at Nawi and watch the surfers.

As for the activities, don’t come here to learn to surf. At least not in April. Ocean was big. There are however world class long board waves 45 min away, and the staff was happy to drive us there daily.

Antiresort and the town of Mizata offer a great outpost to experience El Salvador - especially for those looking to get off the beaten path. Our experience surpassed our expectations and we plan to return!

The attention of the concierge (Daniel specially) and the whole staff is amazing. We have stayed 5 times already and we loved it every time. The food is great, the view and the pool are just unbelievable. The staff used masks all the time and we were able to see how they cleaned the tables at the restaurant. Please try the beans soup (sopa de frijoles de los Dioses), it's delicious. As for the drinks, you can't miss with the "tamaringa" and the "Mizata Mule". Can't wait to go back.

Lovely resort with 2 pools and access to very lovely beach. It is far from El Tunco, but worth to stay. Beach is way better than El tunco one and you have very nice tours variety. Staff was very friendly and i had nice time to relax. Room was clean and spacious, had nice view to sea from my balcony. The only small remark is that resort would use some refreshing, but its a minor thing to remark. Wifi in rooms was ok, in common areas it was shaky sometimes. I would definitely stay there again!

Hi Regina, thank you for your kind words. It's our mission to provide life changing experience for guests; so we can tell a new story of El Salvador. We are completing our next phase of upgrades in February and will be adding new Tree Houses in March. Would love to have you back to see them. Also, we got the wifi issue worked out. We are the only resort in El Salvador with direct fiber optics. Hugs, Josh

What a disappointing place. The marketing folks are amazing because it looks like a dream resort, however, what’s advertised as a spot for “travelers, not tourists,” is really for influencers who want the veneer of adventure. It’s about as authentic as an Instagram filter.

What we found at mizata was lots of tourists in the infinity pool, horrible communication, and an extremely inattentive staff.

On our first of 3 nights (we ended our stay early and cancelled our 4th night), we heard a strange noise coming from the ceiling. We thought maybe insects or plumbing. But on the second night, when the sounds got louder and more pronounced, we thought maybe birds or mice. We told the staff the next morning, who assured us it was BATS!

We had BATS (multiple) in our room, walking around and making lots of noise. The screeching sounds of the bats kept us up all night. We were told by the staff that when we were out of the resort to visit a Salvadoran friend, that when we returned, our winged visitors would be removed and our room cleaned and disinfected. Nope. When we returned, it was as if nothing happened. Bats we’re still there and the room was in the same condition (apparently, cleaning a bat-exposed room is for tourists, not travelers).

The whole time, we didn’t receive clean towels or sheets. We asked multiple times for water. We’d wait around 45 minutes for a check at the restaurant (that had us prices but terrible service). It’s also really far from the airport and most everything else.

Trying to coordinate transportation from the airport while in the states was also horrible. If we didn’t have a Salvadoran friend, we wouldn’t receive confirmation that we would get picked up from the airport, despite multiple emails, calls, WhatsApp messages, etc. before we left.

When we tried to book surfing lessons, we were told, sure we’ll text you when there’s an instructor. We waited all day, but no messages—that’s par for the course here with horrible communication.

If you want a zoonotic disease and pictures in the influencer pool, this is your spot; otherwise, save your money and potential exposure to disease.

Went on a surf trip with a few buddy’s back in November we found out about this place from a good friend who was raving about it. From the moment we got off the plain we we’re completely taken care of our host Shon was waiting at the airport for us with a sign our names on it on the way to the resort we could just see pumping waves we where so stoked! Arriving at the resort the rooms were amazing, the staff, service and food was top notch. We surfed the point out front a few times daily, we hiked to jungle water falls, hung out in the infinity pool and relaxed in the sun. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get away on a full relaxing surf trip it was the full experience. Thanks guys see you again this year!!

I went to Mizata for my first ever yoga retreat (theirs too) and was amazed by their kindness, philosophy and atmosphere. It was a seven day long dream, one that has had me reevaluating my reality. The yoga itself gave me a chance to slow down and reconnect with my mind and body (Catherine Haut is an incredible instructor), and then in our downtime we were offered the opportunity to horseback ride, hike the Santa Ana volcano, surf the famous Mizata breaks and relax in their beachfront pool. It was such a well-rounded experience. Also, THE FOOD! NAWI Beach House is Mizata's restaurant/bar and their food is both nourishing and absolutely mouthwatering. I'm salivating writing this. Get the vegan burrito (smother it in their sauce), and the garlic prawns.

A huge thank you to the crew for being so welcoming and for making us feel like family. I will be back!

If you have the opportunity to spend a moment of your life here, don't hesitate. It might just be exactly what you need.

I had the chance to stay at the beautiful Mizata Resort/Nawi Beach House through a motherland/girls retreat by @saraibysir. I have nothing but positive reviews about the resort, the staff at the resort, Nawi beach house, and the retreat organized by @saraibysir.

The resort: The whole resort is oceanside with beautiful views. I HIGHLY recommend the treehouse. Everything was eco-friendly from the coconut bowls, to the furniture, to the bathrooms. You'll fall asleep and wake up to the waves. There was a guard that walked around the resort at night once it closed down. The location is 1 hour away from most activities so you will need to be prepared for a drive. There isn't much around the area to explore (but honestly you will not want to leave the resort).

The food and pool: Nawi beach house next door provided all of these. I tasted most everything on the menu and they were all good. I recommend the french toast, banana oat pancakes, loaded chilaquiles, brekkie bowl, tipicos, loaded fries, nawi burger, sexi pats, pescado frito, and all the fresh juices. They do close fairly early (around 11pm from what I remember) so the resort remains peaceful during the late hours.

The staff: AMAZING. Taty along with each staff member were SO kind and patient. There are no phones in your room so you will need to communicate through text, call, or whatsapp (they are responsive).

The retreat: I highly recommend reaching out to @saraibysir if you're interested in visiting El Salvador (retreat or anything else since her family runs a tour and transportation company). Not only did we have a fun time visiting the must dos in a short amount of time (waterfall, volcano, rainbow side, surf city, and more), but we had the chance to learn about the culture and try the local foods. We also got the chance to connect with new people in our travel group and disconnect from the outside world (didn't open my laptop once)!

The staff is friendly and sweet, but no one has trained them and there is literally zero coordination or follow up. Examples: we asked for A BLANKET for our room (the bed just comes with 1 sheet) and we’re told “we don’t have blankets.” Three days later, as our trip was almost finished, someone from housekeeping dropped off a blanket. My girlfriend asked the front desk for a beach towel and was told that, “it’ll be a couple of hours.” The service at the restaurant is beyond bad. Expect to wait about 15 minutes before getting a menu and another 40 minutes for your food. No waiter will check on you, ever. The “horse rides” are a five minute photo opp and literally do not extend beyond about 100 feet from the beach bar. We were told, after double confirming, an airport shuttle would be ready at 5 am. It did not show up until after 5:30 and we almost missed our flight home. Do not recommend this place at all.

I booked the 7 day adventure package for my fiance's 40th birthday and it was the BEST decision I could have made. To be completely honest, we were having issues before we arrived but this magical place literally saved our relationship so much so that we now want to have our wedding here!!! From the amazing staff all around, but specifically (Daniel, Monica, Kevin... you all made everything flow effortlessly with ease), our masseuse Tulsi (you helped me release stress and tension not only physically but also spiritually), to our patient and knowledgable surf teacher/guide Erick (you made sure we were safe at all times and helped us build the confidence to ride those beautiful waves), and our rasta tour guide Rocco (you are one cooool MF! haha) If anyone is thinking about coming here for a vacay full of unplugging, enjoying the moment, surrounded by a lush jungle and the amazing, kind, beautiful people who inhabit it, look no further, this place is the place! We love you guys and can't wait to come back!! <3

Everything about this place and our trip was incredible. Our group absolutely loved every minute of our stay and we have not been able to stop telling our friends and family about it. The resort was meticulous and absolutely stunning. The second you step foot out of the shuttle from the airport you cant help but feel completely relaxed. The landscaping and views are magical.

The food and beverage program was extensive. Totally different concept than every other "surf resort" I had previously been too. We ate our way through the menu and every dish was spectacular. Did the same with cocktails too and they were equally fantastic!

The owner (Josh) takes immense pride in the property. His passion is contagious and extends to all of the staff. The staff was incredibly attentive and treat you like family. They go out of their way to ensure you have the best experience possible.

The surfing. . . . insane. Multiple breaks in front of the resort. In the event you want to explore, the front desk staff will organize a driver to take you wherever you want to go. If you are regular footed, you wont regret coming down here. It was a dream come true.

10/10 experience. Will absolutely be back.

Mizata is at the same location as Nawi Beach Resort - Yes they offered shuttle service and guides. Not sure how far it is to zip lining or rainbow slide. Generally it took 1 or 1 -1/2 hours to get to the excursions we did. BEAUTIFUL drives. I would reach out to Mizata directly with your questions - they are very nice and helpful. Cheers!!!
