We stayed three nights at Livernano. We had a large suite. The bed was very comfortable and the suite very clean. We had the most amazing view from our bathroom! Daniella was wonderful with suggestions and recommendations on where to go and what to see. We visited a number of small towns in the area and really got a feel...

We recently stayed at Livernano for about four days at the end of April, and could not have had a better experience. Daniela instantly became a good friend as soon as we met her and did all she could to ensure we had everything we needed and would enjoy our stay. The scenery was heavenly, the evening meals were incredible,...

We came to Livernano in the middle of our two-week honeymoon when we really needed a break and some relaxation after all of the go-go-go and touring we'd been doing. This is the perfect place to do that. The drive in from Florence is incredible. The dirt road is annoying, but not impossible and adds to the remoteness of the...

I loved the fact that this accomodation is far away from any other residential areas and has really big wineyard area around it. Food is really good, wine is amazing and we actually enjoyed it throughout the day... Cycling possibilities all around. The rooms are rustical style (old authentic version), not too light in any sense (in case you require...

We spent one night in Livernano and I wish we had booked to stay longer. The location is beautiful, a piece of heaven. The staff are friendly and so helpful. The rooms are perfect and the bed was very comfortable. The food was excellent as was the wine. We will be back, it was a real find.

Beautiful view. U need a car to get there, there is a 15 mins drive in a dirt road, but it's worth it. The breakfast is not very rich. The dinner at the hotel restaurant was very good, and not expensive. Very friendly staff.

I really enjoyed our stay in Livernano for many reasons. it was really like 'back to nature'. The place is very peaceful and quiet, with the amazing views all around. Daniela and all the staff were absolutely great, very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The rooms are big, decorated with many beautiful old pieces of furniture...

We ate lunch at the restaurant following our tour of the winery at Casalvento. Very secluded and private. A great, personalized experience. The staff were very kind and accommodating. It's a bit tricky to locate and you will lose GPS along the way.

This piece of Chianti perfection is a delight from the time the gates swing open until the last day of your stay. The history is amazing, the buildings carefully restructured, the rooms large, airy and beautifully furnished. The staff was attentive, helpful, cheerful and kind. The food delicious, the service and attention to detail was a delight.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Livernano is a truly ancient place. It was first inhabited by Etruscans, whose culture reached its high-point in Tuscany over 2500 years ago, around 500BC. The hamlet was later occupied by the Romans, who gave it its name. Long after the cessation of Roman rule, Livernano served as a fortified border post during the interminable wars of the two great mediaeval city states in Tuscany, Siena and Florence. Our small, beautifully preserved Romanesque church dates back to the 11th century. In the 17th century, when the territorial wars between Siena and Florence had finally come to an end, Livernano turned into a quiet farming village. At the end of WWII, when the ancient system of share-cropping (mezzadria) was abandoned, Tuscany suffered grinding poverty. The beautiful countryside, tended by humans for millennia, became almost entirely depopulated. The last farmers left Livernano in 1953. The hamlet regained new life in 1990, when the complete restoration of the entire estate was begun. Today, Livernano is once again a working farm, producing fine wines, excellent olive oil and honey, vegetables and fruits. On 38 acres new vineyards were planted with 9 different grape varieties. In the ancient olive groves, new trees were planted and we now tend close to 1000 trees, all of native Italian varieties. The remaining 420 acres consist of beautiful mature woodland that surrounds the hamlet on all sides. Three houses have been completely redesigned and furnished with local antiques to accommodate guests. Although situated in splendid isolation amidst forests, vines and olive groves, Livernano is close to many local towns, historic sites, fine restaurants, and famous wineries. The shopping and cultural centres of Florence and Siena are only a short drive away. ... more   less
