First off, the pluses of our stay at Levni Hotel & Spa: As this was our first time in Istanbul, my husband and I wanted to try a Turkish bath. I wasn't keen on going to a bath house for one so utilizing the spa in the hotel met both of our interests and was a perfect solution. And it did not disappoint. My husband and I were in a room by ourselves (plus 2 spa attendants), which eased any modesty squeamishness we had (after all, it's not like the attendants were our neighbors or anything... lol). We opted for towel coverage- only (a towel they provided which one could arrange sort of like a loincloth), rather than bringing our swimsuits. While I'd never choose to sunbathe nude/partially nude, not opting to wear a bathing suit in this setting (a separate room with just my husband and two professionals) was a good choice for us. If you're super modest, I'd suggest going with as skimpy a bathing suit as you can. Bottom line, it was a totally relaxing and rejuvenating hour (or thereabouts). We were very glad we scheduled it (done in advance via emails with the hotel staff), and we would definitely opt to do it again. Other pluses of our stay: 1) the hotel is in a convenient location in the historic district. We arrived in Istanbul for a cruise that departed two days later. Our goal was to see as many as the historical sights as possible. Since we weren't interested in the hotel location the cruise line used for pre-cruise extensions (i.e., not in the historic district), we opted to find a hotel closer to the sights we were interested in (e.g., Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, etc. [note Blue Mosque is also close by but was closed for renovation at time of our stay in January, 2023]). 2) very pleasant, attentive, and helpful staff. Neutral/ Negatives: 1) The room's size and layout were fine. The bed was comfortable. The bedding consisted of a bottom sheet with a sheet-encased duvet (i.e., no separate top sheet for those of us who prefer one). If the room temperature had been fine (see #2 below), this would have been okay, but as it turned out, we really wished we had had a top sheet. 2) Room was very overheated and temperature controls were not functioning. We were visiting in wintertime in January so the room was being heated. While there was a room thermostat, along with instructions to control/change the room temperature, they were not functioning and were basically bogus. Rather, they were over-ridden by a system-wide, "community" setting that was set to be much hotter than we wanted (I seem to recall a 27 degrees Centigrade reading [that's 80.7 Fahrenheit for those of us stateside] in the room that wouldn't budge). At some point, I got up out of bed, got dressed and went down to the front desk to complain and request some relief. The front desk person offered to remove our room from the system settings, which helped some. What we should have done is couple that with opening the window, but as it was a weekend night and there was a good bit of street noise, an open window would have meant having to contend with that annoyance. The second night of our stay, we did open the window and that brought much relief. Unfortunately, a sporadically banging (broken?) door which accessed the roof plagued our second and final night of sleep there. My husband tried to prop the door open, but the wind was too strong so that only worked temporarily. Neither of us felt like schlepping down to the front desk again so we just endured it. I see on Tripadvisor that at least one other reviewer had the same overheated experience we did in the same room we were in so I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND AGAINST staying in room #1507 (that review can be found at: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g23456206-d1897902-r746649463-Levni_Hotel_Spa-Fatih_Foca_Izmir_Province_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html ). I will also point out that I booked this room through a 3rd party vendor (i.e., maybe anyone getting a discounted rate gets this room??). If we found ourselves staying at the Levni again in the wintertime, we'd have to be assured a room on the Bosphorus side (i.e., quieter) and we would want to be removed from the system wide heating system if the room was hot (I have no idea what the cooling capabilities are or aren't in the summertime), and away from the door that accesses the rooftop. My husband would be less forgiving and wouldn't want to stay there.…
Excellent location, good size room, I have booked exclusive room room number 1501 room size is O, toiletries OK the only problem is the furniture is so old need to be changed. Bed is very annoying. I wake up with any movement.
We were a family of 4,so we got 2 rooms, one in front of the other, with corridor that you can close the door, and you have your own family suite!.very big bed, very comfy. The spa is poor, very poor.the indoor pool was cold in december, the sauna was shutdown,no steam room..they say hotel and spa, indeed it’s only a hotel.. The breakfast was very good, with fresh orange juice The personnel in the restaurant is nice, the lobby ones are not as smiley or friendly
We are a family of 4 very pleased to stay in this hotel from 22-26 December. We bought the package through British Airways and stayed in two standard rooms. Staffs were very helpful specially manager Mr Nural’s customer service was outstanding. Our BA flight was delayed and we reached at the hotel around 1 am and the night duty staff (probably Mr Hatim) helped us to settle in the rooms. We found another staff in breakfast area very pleasant and communicative. Thanks to the hotel management to keep our request for two rooms next to each with interconnected doors. The hotel seems newly refurbished, rooms are very clean, beds are quite big and comfortable. Only different things I found the bathroom area (sink) which is not completely separate from the bedroom in our standard room. I wanted to upgrade a bigger room but all was booked! Most iconic sites are in walking distance.…

The Levni Hotel in old town Istanbul is in a great location. You can walk to all the must see places in the old town. The staff went out of their way to help us get settled and booked tours and a guide. Great place to stay.
The location was great, easy walk to the Blue Mosque/Sofia Hagia/Grand Bazaar/Spice Bazaar. There are also markets and restaurants within walking distance. Finally, there is a metro station right outside the door. Staff at the front desk, as well as housekeepers, were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff were not chatty at all. The breakfast buffet had a ton of choices, but no true carbs or meats- mostly sweets, fruits, and cold cuts. The room was a good size and quality. In my opinion the bedding was not amazing, I'd say about average for European hotels.
Not sure at all how this hotel has achieved a 5* rating. If you book with this expectation you will be sorely disappointed, as I was. Negatives: - Despite being a good location for site-seeing, the following gave a 1* vibe: - Packs of stray dogs congregate outside the hotel entrance daily at all times. - There is a permanent looking wooden house for stray cats opposite the entrance, with many frequent visitors. - Half the building is covered with scaffolding (Nov 2022) - It is 10 paces from the metro station, very active at all times, especially early morning and late evening rush hours. Many commuters stand opposite, talking on phones, smoking, eating and as an active meeting point. Fine, but be aware. - The room itself had no views (fire escape and alley). The rooftop may have, but had no desire to buy dinner or drink there. - Awful customer service, with arrogant and confrontational staff, to the point that felt quite uncomfortable at times. Definitely did not even feel like a valued customer, let alone special/treated as luxury getaway: - Number of staff was plentiful, but at every opportunity larger groups were explicitly prioritised over individuals or pairs. I did not pay any less!! - My booking was as a "Deluxe Twin/Double room", and it was made up as a double. Fine. Instead of sending housekeeping to amend, as requested (I was staying with my mother and the double was just two twins pushed together), I was told that this was impossible that night and was quite "assertively" told that it was my fault for not calling ahead (they were "very busy with a large important group" after all. I got the impression that this was a planned approach and despite the issue being made known absolutely nothing was done about it. Please print off your booking to avoid this, as once you have accepted the room, you will not be listened to. I'm shocked something as basic as this was a problem with number of staff and 5* level. - At breakfast, our half-eaten plates of food were abruptly taken from us, while still eating, and moved to a smaller table to accommodate a party with 1 extra guest. When we arrived, there were no smaller tables and no efforts were made to seat us by staff. Inconvenient and actually quite embarrassing. I refused to eat there for the rest of the stay, and was so disgusted by the service. - Spa and pool area sporadically shut and inaccessible throughout the week. This was a usp of the hotel (it does have "spa" as part of its name). - General facilites and service of the room were generally just meh and 2-3* - Could not control heating from the room; thermostat in room was controlled by reception. - Random temperature fluctuations in shower, made for a fun occasional scald/freeze. - TV had incompatible remote that only allowed a dozen channels to be shown. - Noisy, internally and externally. - Standard of interior in decline, e.g. tiles cracked in bathroom, wooden surfaces and paint scratched etc. Not awful, but not luxurious. - Tea and coffee not regularly replenished and of poor sachet instant variety. Turkey, and no fresh tea or coffee in 5*?!?! Just a kettle, no coffee maker. - No drinking water, and had to ask reception. Only 1 bottle supplied inconsistently per day. Mostly bought our own. - Minifridge great, but not stocked as minibar, as advertised and expectations may not be met. Positives: + Location is excellent, within walking distance of everything of note in old Istanbul. + Wifi in rooms is pretty decent speed and connectivity. + Rooms are ok standard of cleanliness. + Liked the "do not disturb" system. + Liked the mini fridge to store our own snacks in. + There was a working safe within the room.…
Me and the Girlfriend went in November for my Birthday. We got there late but Check-In couldn't have gone smoother or quicker. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. Location was perfect for day trips to all the various sites and evenings to the various restaurants/bars. If we were going back to Istanbul, we would 100% be looking at Levni Hotel as our first option to stay.
This hotel was recommended to us by our travel agent, Turkland Travel. We absolutely loved it. We stayed at this property for two weeks and toward the end of our stay, we felt like it was our home. Everybody at the hotel knew us. The location is perfect--all important sites are within walking distance. Because it has two entrances, it makes it even easier to get to/from the hotel, no matter the direction you are going to or returning from. There is plenty of public transportation (although, you can walk pretty much everywhere), including a metro station that takes you to the Asian side. There is a nice restaurant area called by locals the restaurant island, right across the street. And if you feel like having a late-night snack or a piece of fruit in your room--there is a small supermarket and fruit/vegetable stands all over the place. Rooms have refrigerators. Or you can walk to the Spice bazaar! You can't beat the location. The hotel has two entrances. The main entrance, where the reception is, is next to a government building, Because of that, it's a very quiet spot at night. Our room was on that side of the building, so it was very quiet at night. There is a mosque nearby, so we heard the call to prayer early in the morning. The other side of the hotel is on a busier street, but at night it gets very quiet as well. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. It's a former apartment building, so all rooms are different. We had two adjacent rooms. Both were very comfortable but one was a little smaller. The cleaning staff was fantastic. Unfortunately, I lost the piece of paper with everybody's names so I can't name anyone. But the woman who cleaned our rooms (1109 and 1108) was always cheerful and did a great job. The reception staff was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and helpful. I remember the name of only one person, unfortunately,- Yasar. But everybody was great. All reception staff speaks different languages. I heard them interacting in English, German, French, and Italian. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Every morning we had fantastic Turkish breakfast mezes. They change them up every day, so there is a variety. The restaurant staff works very hard. We were served by Muhammed almost every morning, who is great. But all staff is. The rates are very reasonable. We are happy this hotel was recommended by a travel agent.…
