Certificate of Excellence
In a region rich in cultural heritage, Serena Khaplu Palace is certainly the finest surviving example of a Royal Residence in Baltistan. It is located on the legendry route to the world’s greatest junction of three mighty glaciers at Concordia. In terms of architectural heritage and cultural expression, it has arguably more treasures than Shigar Fort, possibly as a result of its closeness to both Leh in Ladakh and Srinagar in Kashmir.Serena Khaplu Palace is a unique heritage Boutique Hotel which offers guests the opportunity to experience the restored original architecture of a 19th century Raja Palace, while enjoying the modern amenities and services of a luxury Hotel.

It was a pleasure to stay in Serena Khaplu Palace Hotel. Small quaint intimate hotel which has its own unique character and history. Serena has done a great job with the comfort of a hotel in a 750 year old palace.
The food is exceptional with its own unique flavour and taste. It

We stayed at this lovely converted fort for one night, which in hindsight should have been longer. They have managed to retain all the historic features and charm of the old fort which , apparently, has been used for a Pakistan TV serial.

The staff were very good and the manage

This was the best hotel experience during Skardu tour. Nice antique interior and environment, nice cozy bed and nice washroom. Food Quality was good but should be reasonable quantity. Overall it was a nice experience.

We're booked for khaplu and shigar in a week's time. We're traveling with a baby so I wanted to know if the rental cars and transfer cars at khaplu will be suitable for a car seat.
Totally travel worthy but it's better to pre-book as it's hi season and you may not get a preferred vehicle. I recommend a 4x4 with a family friendly driver - usually locals from the mountains don't realise that people are not used to mountains which leads to motion sickness and also a fright of hi-speed around bends. Spell it out and pre-prep with gravinate. The car rental amounts from 10-15k per day in high season, make use of the car usage not just hotel to hotel.

What are places to see in Khaplu? Local Restaurant to eat local food?
The places in around Khaplu to see are the historical mosques, Khanqah which is approximately 300 years old, and Broch . If you drive just 20 minutes out of Khaplu then there is the beautiful Salin Trout farm, and Machlu valley is just 40 minutes drive from Khaplu. The restaurant of Serena Khaplu Palace makes delicious food, especially do try their local Balti specialties.
