Great hotel in a beautiful location ! This hotel is a gem on the coast of Ceará to the east of Fortaleza. It is about a two hour drive from Fortaleza airport along well paved roads. I stayed for a week in a garden bungalow with my daughter and we had a very relaxing time. The property is well maintained and the garden, pools and decorations are beautifully designed. The beach is a relatively clean (8/10) beach with calm water. Occasionally plastic bottles washed up and there was quite a bit of seaweed but generally it was clean. Our room was spacious with a large king size bed and a single bed for my daughter. A small outside sitting area was great. The air conditioning worked well but the strong blue light disturbed me a bit at night. One day the generator was on at the back of the hotel which was quite noisy but it only lasted for a few hours. Service from staff was impeccable and I particularly want to thank Barbara and Suziana and Julia and Eli who worked in the restaurant and on the beach. All excellent. My only disappointment on one day was the food because one night we ordered food that was sent back twice (uncooked potatoes then inedible steak) but generally it was good. The hotel apologised for the bad experience (Aline the Général Manager came to talk to me and offered us a free massage as an apology). The chef sent me a WhatsApp after returning home, also apologising. Breakfast is served a la Carte (introduced during the pandemic) and personally I prefer a buffet style where you don’t have to continually ask for things. But quality and variety of breakfast food was good. To be truly excellent I feel this hotel could go the extra mile and do a little more. It is a hotel that is top rating on Relais de Charme but I think it is lacking a few extra touches. One example could be to offer a welcome drink. Another example could be to offer some bottled water and a small snack for the car ride back to Fortaleza for departing guests. Another example could be to improve the range of bathroom cosmetics. Some parts of the hotel are to be renovated (the restaurant seating looks old and is not so comfortable) and the beach chairs are comfortable but not the best in the world. Another person working at the beach would also be useful as even though Eli did excellent work, he was sometimes overwhelmed when the hotel was full during Carnival. In spite of this I still give a rating of 5 stars for this review due to the kindness and excellent service from all the staff.

Thank you for all the points mentioned and for sharing your suggestions, as it is through this exchange of information that we are able to improve and evolve. Me and my wife stayed 3 nights in this little paradise. Its 2 hours drive from Fortaleza and in the cute town of Maceio I could not have been happier. The location, property, the Bigalow bedroom, the food and most importantly the staff where all amazing. We'll definitely be back!

Perfect from start to finish! This was our 7th visit. Right on the clean & empty beach! The staff at the hotel are always friendly & go out of their way to help when you need something. There are improvements to the hotel every time we return; can’t wait for the next trip!

Yesterday we went to the restaurant for dinner, we were a group of 4. The hostess seated us, we ordered appetizers and drinks and then after few minutes we were greeted by the Chef ask us to leave rudely because he didn’t have capacity to serve another table. We were shocked and took some time to process what’s going on. The chef walked away and we asked for an explanation from the hotel about what happened. No one seemed to be able to assist and wanted to confront the Chef. What a frustrating experience in such a beautiful hotel. All our group lives in NYC, known for its ruthless dining scene and no one had ever experienced something so absurd.

Dear Mr. Freitas, We are sorry that what happened left this impression on our Restaurant, but there is some important information that is not included in your evaluation: Upon arriving at the Hotel, you were informed that we were fully booked, and that we could not serve you properly. The group insisted on visiting and getting to know our space. Even at full capacity, we made an exception by offering the bar space for your group to experience a few drinks. However, the group insisted on occupying a table in our Restaurant, so our Chef went to inform them that they could stay, but that our kitchen could not serve them (as you were already aware). It is worth remembering that it is present in our information vehicles that the use of our Restaurant takes place through prior reservation. Even if they did not follow this guidance, we did our best to serve them in the best way. We assure you that your report is not the experience we provide to our customers and we regret that you have memories of the situation as you described it to us. We hope to welcome you again on other occasions to provide a new experience and build better memories! See you soon! We remain at your service.

Vila Selvagem was an incredible much needed vacation. From the moment we were picked up at the airport by Josue, until our departure, everything was perfect. The hotel, our Bangalô Royal Oceano right by the beach, the food, and the tranquility. Beautiful beach, fishermen catching lobsters, oceanside little places to eat or just to have a drink. Everyone at Vila Selvagem was extremely polite, engaging and fun to talk to. My husband and I would like to thank Rayssa and Alina from the reception area and general manager, the servers Roni, Julia, Lydia, Barbara for their always present good humor and attentiveness. The cleaning lady and support staff were always ready even when needed to teach us to deal with the TV. Bt the way, you have access to all channels and programs from around the world. Last but not least, I would like to thank the chef for preparing a marvelous tray with cold cuts, fresh OJ, fruits, and beautifully decorated with flowers, presented upon our arrival. I had requested for such tray but had no idea of what was going to be. Unforgettable. This hotel/resort is one of the best I have ever been. Going back to Brasil I will definitely spend another vacation over there.

We stayed at rooms 103 and 106. The toilet at room 103 was clogged. There were water leaks in both rooms. The mattress cover under the bed at room 106 was teared. Rooms were clean, but stains on walls revealed lack of care and attention to details. Food was terrible, very oily, and even a burned tempura was served to us. We returned the dish. and the cook (the French chef marketed as a differential was not in during our stay) didn’t even had the courtesy of coming to our table to apologize. In fact our waitress communicated our dissatisfaction to the cook, and we were told by her that the meal could be replaced, but the cook would not talk with us… and had we not checked a restaurant bill for a glass of juice asked after this incident, we would have paid BRL 350 - approx. Eur 53 - for it!(apparently we received a bill from another guest). The French chef passed by next day to apologize. Waiters and reception were kind and tried to make up for the overall lack of professionalism and maintenance issues. Management offered a discount in our check out bill and a massage to compensate for our disappointment. The massage was included in our check out bill and excluded upon request. In short, nature surrounding the hotel is gorgeous, staff is kind, with the exception of the cook, but maintenance in the rooms is poor, food is terrible and services are unprofessional. Overall standards are low and definitely not compatible with the hotel rankings and price.

After scrambling to find a warm beach during the freak cold snap in Brazil, I landed on FORTIM, a tiny town 1.45 hours outside of Fortaleza. The town is small and walkable but this hotel is a gem - grounds are expansive and right on the beach - a must for the area. Two pools and 2 bars and restaurants with lovely public spaces, plus beach service and a spa makes for a true resort experience. The pools are immaculate and the rooms lovely - great bath amenities, WiFi, AC and best of all - quiet! Sure the beach front rooms are best but all are dynamite. The manager Luiz, speaks the most English so it is helpful if you need something you cannot communicate in Portuguese. Luiz is a true manager - service exceeded expectations on all points going above and beyond to ensure our experience was top notch - he also arranged a fabulous buggy tour plus airport transfer during our stay. The bartender at the pool was also awesome and the pools were never crowded which was another plus. Breakfast is included, which was plentiful but the food overall needs a bit of “snazz” - for the price and quality of the resort a small adjustment to selection and quality would make this resort 6 stars. That being said the food was not bad by any means, just could use a bit of an upgrade to include healthy options / lighter fare. My only regret is leaving this lovely place - thank you Vila S!

This was our 3rd time at Vila Selvagem, the hotel is a charming villa on a almost desert beach. But the most incredible thing here is the service: the crew is the same since first time, they are smiling funny smart local young people, that find joy in all they do. If you really want to relax and enjoy amazing caipirinhas all day, this is the place for you.
