We spent one week at the Grand Village Resort Weissenhaus. It was the most perfect vacation which we have ever experienced. The quality and equipment of the rooms and villas is outstanding; the F&B offerings are remarkable; the whole grounds are just breath-taking. But the best is the staff: on the one side, perfect in their service-orientation; on the other side, very charming and natural. A combination which is very difficult to find anywhere else. It is this combination which made our stay an experience which we will never forget. Again: A big "Thank you" to all the "Weissenhaeussler" who allowed us to spend one remarkable week.
I stayed 3 nights at the Weissenhaus Resort and it was everything I expected: beautiful grounds, lovely staff, charming European flair. The terrace room was large and cozy: I had a separate lounge with TV and stylish armchairs and a room with a very comfortable mattress. I loved my private garden with sun beds. The perfect place to relax. I had dinner at Boothaus: the food was very good and the service was efficient and very professional. And what a view, especially at sunset ! I had dinner another time at the sushi bar: very tasty and creative makis eaten al fresco.. I even got to see a deer coming out of the woods whilst dining. Breakfast was served in a separate house: high quality products. I loved the fresh fruit display, the smoothies, the salmon and cheeses.. and of course the bread. And you could order eggs, pancakes, avocado toast at your convenience. Thank you to the staff who attended to all my needs. I felt pampered. The only default I found was the quality of wifi.. it should be improved in some parts of the resort.…
A hotel has two obligations : giving service and making profit. And this is a delicat balance. Weissenhaus however succeeds in an outstanding way to offer a superb service, and yet staying generous all the way. And this in a professionalisme you dont experience often. The village ( yes, it is an ancient village, renovated completely), and the park ( as the connecting space between the several buildings) is just beautiful. The restaurants ( Bootshaus, Manoir and Sushi bar) are excellent. The Spa and wellness are well equipped and on a high level. The breakfast is top. The staff is on a high level, and they make sure you only have to enjoy. If you want to relax, this is the place to be. Are there negative points? Mowing the grass starts too early. But this is a tiny remark. We hope to come back in the winter.…
It has taken me a few months to write this review as I have such mixed feelings. On one hand, this is indeed a beautiful hotel with luxurious aspects. The sprawling grounds are well maintained and great for long walks. The staff was friendly, personable, and accommodating. Breakfast in the separate cottage was available until noon - which was a a luxury in itself. The spa was open and bright and airy, yet it was made cozy by the fireplace, the comfortable seating and the good supply of blankets, cushions, and towels. I also really enjoyed the food and smoothies in the spa. The modern Asian food in the "cellar" restaurant was as tasty as the decor was stylish. There was even an ice-cream making class that was fun and hosted in a gorgeous kitchen space. The hotel is pet-friendly and you can even reserve a dog-sitter (15€/hr) if you do not want to leave your dog alone while you enjoy the spa, or while you go to breakfast. Nice. Despite all of these good things, there were other aspects that were definitely not up to the standards of a luxury property. I stayed in a room in the Schloss and was reminded several times that coffee and cake were available in the afternoons. I always find this to be a nice offering at a luxury hotel, but I have never before been charged for it. For the price one pays per night at this hotel, I hardly expected a 5€ charge for an afternoon coffee. It seems a bit mean. It was lovely to have breakfast available until noon, and the food was nice, but neither in quality nor selection was it luxury. The staff throughout the hotel were professional and friendly and often called you by name, but in the breakfast cottage there seemed to be a hope, if not an expectation, that staff receive a gratuity if you stayed for more than a day or two. On several occasions I saw staff accepting tips. Certainly there is nothing wrong with a gratuity, but it is not nice to feel it is expected as a server hovers by your table too long or too often near the end of your meal, especially after you have stayed a few days. The spa probably merits a separate review. The spa itself was beautiful, but the services were below par. Don't mistake me. There is a lot that is good here, but is it the level of luxury you paid for? Not by a long shot. I had the feeling there was a lot of old money here and a majority of German clientele. Perhaps by German standards this hotel is the height of luxury, but if you can afford to stay here for a week, I'd opt instead to spend 4-5 days in real luxury in a European capital.…
We have visited the Grand Village in autumn for a long weekend to get away from it all and it was perfect. The setting away from everything and just by the beach is quiet and beautiful, we walked along the beach and through the forest just taking time off. The hotel itself is magnificient. Our room was large, overlooking the gardens with an open fireplace and a huge bathroom that completed the spa atmosphere. The spa area itself is the best I have seen, with a nice pool area, beautiful sauna and steam baths and very nicely arranged relax areas all around. Though I personally am not such a spa fan, I spend two full days here and enjoyed every minute. One point where there is room for improvement: The gymn could use some more weights and bar-bells. The food is outstanding. The goes for the breakfast as well as for the restaurant by the sea. The stroll out to the restaurant on the water is particularly nice. We will certainly come back.…
Stayed here in September 2017 on a business trip. My room was located in an old house and had a very tasteful interior with beach decorations. Luxury toiletries, luxury bathroom with a tub. The location of the resort is amazing, it's just a short and peaceful walk to the beach. Dinner at the Bootshaus was amazing!
While on our holidays in nothern Germany we visited this beautiful area. The gounds gave recently been refurbished this old proprty However the room service is not really up to the prices or existent and simple request were met with bereaucratic excuses A shame !!!!
This is mostly a well managed hotel where the staff really look after you from the moment you arrive until you leave. The food is superb at the Bootshaus and they have plenty of champagne on ice - always a good sign! We also ate at the Asian restaurant/bar which had tasty Asian style tapas style food too in a cosy but dark, underground venue - definitely an evening visit! The Michelin-star restaurant was closed when we were there - a note from the hotel to notify us before arriving would have been polite. The grounds are impressive and relaxing with period buildings (the bedrooms) dotted about and you can have a windswept walk on the beach at the end of the property next to the Bootshaus restaurant - no Sylt-like dunes here but pleasant enough and you can walk through the woods and over the headland which has some lovely romantic views. The spa is nice enough but somehow I didn't find the area for relaxing very cosy as it is very open with high ceilings, although the open fire was a welcome touch. The massages were good - I took the wild card Hawaiian one which was good.. but certainly not for the modest or faint hearted (woman)!! The pool is pleasant but not much chance for doing laps - just lazing around. We were here in winter without kids so I'm not sure how much fun it would be for them. The worst part was the bedrooms - we took a suite and it was decorated on a very mean budget. Wobbly lights, small synthetic rugs, fake leather items, no shower in the bathroom, just a bath(!).. everything felt small and ungenerous and the maid service was basic too. The big draw for me is fresh air and impressive grounds and wonderful food with some great service.…
We stayed at the Weissenhaus Resort 8/21/17-8/26/17 and it exceeded our high expectations! The staff here are the best! We received the warmest greeting when we arrived by the front desk staff and the bellman, Sebastian, who showed us to our room. The first morning we went to the breakfast and were greeted by the lovely Carolin, who told us, "If there is anything you need, just ask. The Weissenhaus is unlike any other". That was quite a statement, but was completely true! We had issues with our rental car and the bellmen, Sasha, Enrico and Sebastian, went above and beyond trying to fix our car and contact Avis, who were impossible to reach. The meal at Courtier was heavenly and our Sommelier was so friendly and charming and made our evening even more enjoyable. When our car was finally replaced by Avis, Tim, the front office manager and his concierge gave us great recommendations for towns to see and fun local restaurants to visit. The grounds of the resort are so picturesque. We spent our days at the indoor/outdoor pool (a favorite of my 10 year old), walking the grounds to the beach and using the resort's bikes to explore a little more. We loved Weissenhaus so much that we will return in 2019!…
We have been there in August as frequent five star luxury travelers. Therefore I will list some little points to improve as well. The arrival was fantastic. If you arrive with your own car, there is a huge gate in front which opens slowly and you feel already like a king or queen :)! The staff was very friendly and check in went very smooth. The room (suite) was not ready around 2pm however we took the time for a walk. The size of the resort is amazing!! Very well maintained and fantastic hidden corners to enjoy the tranquility and piece of the nature. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach. Clean, nice chairs and a wonderful beach restaurant where also the public can enter and have dinner or a glass of hot chocolate. There are two seatings in the evening as it's not too big. I understand the point however as a guest it's not a perfect solution. Either you eat at 6 or 8.30 pm. The food was very good - we had a steak the other evening. We had an amazing suite in the castle. View over the green of the Ressort. At the end somewhere you can see the sea as well. The room itself was bright and familiar. There was an open fire in the room and it was wonderful designed. A very special room indeed. The castle itself is nice but a bit empty as the guests (around 50 rooms in total) are located over the Ressort. Therefore the castle was almost empty. A bit spooky :). The Spa is very nice and friendly. Calm and peaceful however not too big. The bar there opens only from lunch time and there was no chance to order something before as the staff not not able to do the booking. As I insisted to get a water before, they did an exception and booked it later on. That's quiet disappointing. The staff was very friendly and the pool temperature perfect. There are children times which is good. In General, very nice. Breakfast is in a separate house and you can sit outside as well. They had a good selection of food. I liked the different sorts of fresh bread, all in a row on the buffet. Freshly cut fruits, no convenience. We had to ask for still water again as they are using some filtered water which might be good but of course there are no important ingredients. In my opinion the atmosphere could be better. The chairs are fine but not very cosy. The music did not match to breakfast time. It was more like lounge music. In General: i can recommend the Ressort 100%. We had to leave early for an emergency unfortunately but also here the staff was very professional. Enjoy! …
