Uga Ulagalla was one of the best, relaxing and enjoyable experience I've had in Sri Lanka, except for the private pool not being heated (hence the 4 stars, definitely 4.8/5 but TripAdvisor only allows 4 or 5). Everything else was very good. The service was excellent. Most of the staff we interacted with including Dilrukshi were very friendly and helpful, and the General Manager Thashinthan was also extremely pleasant. The staff was very helpful in organising a delicious surprise birthday cake as well. The Property is beautiful and quite massive with a plethora of hidden gems to explore, paddy fields, lakes and beautiful gardens with a variety of wild life paying visits in the Mornings and evenings. The property is large enough that you don't feel the crowd disturbed by other guests. It is the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. You can go around the property in bicycles or call a buggy/golf cart to pick you up. They also have two adorable horses available for guests to ride! The food was one of the best I have tasted in Sri Lanka. The starters were delicious and the mains were excellent, although the prices of some of the local food on the menu were quite expensive (in $ rates) but the international menu was decently priced with a good potion. The menu didn't have many choices in each category, but whatever was served was of high quality and taste. I'd suggest to book full board if you want a superior and complete culinary experience. The chalet we stayed was very spacious with pretty much all the amenities you'd expect and a few more as well. The bathrooms were gorgeous. The private plunge pool was okay. We would have loved to spend more time in the pool but the the pool was quite cold even though the weather was warm, and we could only spend an hour in it without getting chills. I wish they had heated pools (just a few degrees warmer) which would have allowed us to spend more time in the pool even at night, giving us a more wholesome and exclusive experience. But other than that it was a great stay. Would recommend Uga Ulagalla to anyone. Although I'd mention the pool not being heated. …
An upscale boutique hotel based on villas set in magnificent grounds of paddy fields and flowering shrubs and old trees. It is an escape from the hubbub of the day-to-day with its peace and tranquility broken by peacock cries and monkey calls. All the rest is also excellent- with great food and charming staff. Thank you to Kalal for taking us so often in the buggy, to the great team on reception and in the restaurant. Also, lots of things to do here; we used the bikes and the slightly modest gym but there is los more. An excellent base too for a safari and trip to the temples…..
My wife and I want to express to you and your staff how much we enjoyed our stay at your hotel. We were on our honeymoon and we were so badly in a need of a break. And i am very pleased to say that you guys did not disappoint us at all. Your service and the entire experience was beyond our expectations.! Especial thanks goes to Kasun, Nilushi, and Seshaya for their amazing service.! Last but not least Amal, the guy who helped us on our very first experience in kayaking did a really good job 👍 Highly recommend any one to visit this amazing place and it will be worth your while.!
It was a grate stay at Ulagalla with my family. Everybody in the Hotel was so good and helpful. Beautiful and naturally attractive place for you to stay with home feeling. I strongly recommended for any one who is willing to spend your holiday as real holiday.
We can recommend this hotel concept with full conviction. This spacious complex with private villas is a dream, especially in times of Corona. Service, cuisine and atmosphere invite you to spend a few days there. Special thanks go to Katharina (ranger/naturalist). She organised a safari through the marshland with us and a great driver colleague, including a picnic at sunset. A real MUST !! The visit to the Willpattu National Park and the Buddhist sites in Anuradahpura make the stay a highlight of the Sri Lanka trip.
