Visited here for lunch Saturday 16th July. Have been many times in the past and always enjoyed it. However yesterday they had run out of most of the items on the limited choice lunch menu. Starter arrived and then a few minutes later my main meal was dumped on the table. Whole experience ruined because main meal was cold by... More

I have visited this pub many times and have always found the staff extremely friendly and the food has been very enjoyable. The outside menu which is offered on Saturdays from 12.00-15.00 is also a great option perfect for alfresco dinning weather permitting!

Stayed the night due to working in the area, and booked a double room for £70 including breakfast , although English breakfast is not available until 8am. On arrival you walk across a really nice outdoor seating area but you have to check in at the bar which isn't a problem, its immediately obvious that the building has had a... More

This restaurant, which also has accommodation, is in a pleasant rural location not far from Basingstoke and popular with walkers. We had a very pleasant lunch, ample seating inside and out, best to sit in the bar area if inside as found the kitchen area a bit noisy (jolly chef!). Some good choices on the menu with a wide variety... More

After a delightful drive from Basingstoke where the road meanders through the Candovers villages and the English countryside, I am always glad to find the pub where they make you very welcome. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave there is an air of belonging! My wife (not with me this time) says its one of the... More

Nice local pub with a good range of wines and beers. Food has been a tiny bit hit and miss recently, but the reinstatement of the old manager who has been on sabbatical (ie enjoying himself in Thailand and playing golf) has already started to improve things. There is a main bar area, a free pool table and open fire... More

Visited with and treated by a friend which makes it difficult to comment when asked about the food... I had fish and chips ....the batter was too thick and over cooked, ....encasing thin sliver of fish which was tasteless, I messaged the establishment complimenting them on the wine, the venue and the staff ... However they didn't have the courtesy... More

wonderful room (cosy, special, comfortable, eye for detail, not "standard" at all); great breakfast and really nice food generally (unfortunately we did not have lunch there - I did stare enviously at the burgers with fries that the people at the table next to me were having) idyllic location but mostly: fantastic team topped by a man called Johnny. Despite... More

The big tourist attraction in this region is 'shooting', so it's mostly populated by well-heeled Brits with shotguns. The room tariffs are expensive, the rooms are okay, but not special, but the restaurant is excellent. There's a distinct shortage of decent properties in the area, so this hotel is pretty much all there is if you want to stay in... More
