We have just got back from spending the night at the Woolpack, I have to say I couldn't fault it. We received a warm welcome and were swiftly shown to a beautiful room (Snipe) the bath was amazing and just what was need after a 15 km walk. We ate dinner in the bar and were bowled over by the...

I turned up here with my son and no reservation at 2.30 on a Sunday lunchtime, and though it was very busy they found us a table and looked after us beautifully. Excellent food and service, and one one of Christopher Somerville's lovely walking routes (see his website for a free download.)

I used to live very near the Woolpack Inn and yet despite stopping for a meal once I've never stayed there. When we moved home I had still some business appointments back at our old place and so my wife and I went for an overnight stay and meal. I have to say we were very impressed overall. Service was...

We stayed for two nights taking advantage of the special winter deal. The pub was fairly quiet both very cold evenings (Tuesday and Wednesday) in early February. We had a lovely cosy table near the fire both evenings. Service was relaxed, attentive and friendly. The menu though not vast gave us enough good options to make choice difficult. Everything was...

We come and have a night away as often as possible. Living less than ten miles away, we come and re-charge our batteries here. The rooms are lovely and cosy, the food delicious and service outstanding. It is superb value for money. Also a lovely relaxing treat, to recover from a busy week. The breakfast is locally sourced and extremely...

Lunched on Sunday 15 January 2017 on a return visit having been so pleased with both the food and the service. Both are first class. also a very good menu for children. Plenty of car parking space to go with it. Perhaps the overall ambiance of the pub could do with some further work on it and it would probably...

I have eaten at this pub many times before and have had good experiences. However we visited last night and were completely underwhelmed. It was my husband's birthday and so I rang and booked a table. At this point I was not told that only the bar menu would be on offer that evening. We arrived , had a drink...

I visited the Woolpack today with my family for a Boxing Day lunch. I'd booked the table back in October for 8 people however when we turned up we were told that we would have to be split over 2 tables. I spoke to a man behind the bar about this - explaining to him that no one had let...

Christmas shopping does have its advantages! As my wife was away & a friend came to stay, we had supper at The Woolpack Inn. Really good menu with excellent choice of specials - real focus on locally sourced produce! Venison liver with mash and gravy to die for and all on a bed of trendy cabbage - cannot recommend highly...

We with friends a group of 10, we all live locally but had never been before. We were all very sad impressed, the standard of food and nice friendly staff. The prices were reasonable from £12 - £18 for a main course. The pub itself was charming, log fires, old beams, an outside pizza oven and a lovely private dining...
