Unique place, wonderful service and amazing food...perfect for a weekend getaway or just to relax and enjoy nature Totally recommended. We live in Mexico and we loved it we will definately return soon
Excellent location, kind and friendly staff and good food! No news to go anywhere else during your stay. The beach is clean and since there are few rooms, it seems the bay is all for you. If you’re lucky, like us, you can spot little turtles making they way back to the sea.
Incredibly unwelcoming rude manager/receptionist who really ruined our stay. Upon arrival we were barely greeted, we were not told about any breakfast, we weren't told anything about the hotel, it was as if she was surprised we were even there. We walked up to our hilltop room which was a LONG way up some steep steps. Our room was very very hot, and there was a mini fridge but they hadn't even thought to put any water in there knowing its a tough walk up in that heat. We are used to staying in pretty basic places and we aren't fussy people, but this hotel is high end prices for Mexico, so you'd expect more than the service we got at this hotel. We barely slept on our first night because the room was so uncomfortably hot. We considered checking out early the following morning but decided instead to ask for an extra fan for the room. We asked the manager for a fan and she told us that there would be one in our room after dinner. We walked a LONG way up the steps after dinner, incredibly hot, and there was no extra fan there as promised. We couldn't believe it after we were promised it would be there and it was too long to walk all the way down and up again. We wouldn't have stayed the second night if this would have been the case, and we spent a second sleepless night after the manger let us down. We checked out the next morning, and the manager said someone would come up to our hilltop room to bring our suitcase down as there were so many steep steps. We waited for over half an hour and no one came, in the end we just had to do it ourselves. She again purposely promised something that didn't happen. It was like the manager was actually trying to ruin our stay, as if she held something against us. I have never in my life had such awful service, you could pay a quarter of the price and stay somewhere better in Mexico. We paid $30 a night elsewhere and had incredible service and thoughtful extras like bottled water in the room. The manager lets this hotel down. It really ruined our stay and I regret that we wasted 2 precious nights of our time in Mexico…
We as a family have been part of Oaxaca Cost for more than 30 years. You can never consider yourself an expert about thr region, nevertheless, we do know the area. Bahía de la Luna is one of those "corners" in the Pacific Coast that continues to mantain a real an authentic soul. The place is a treasure well kept. What just keeps us in Love with our country is the People and Bahía de la Luna is just a tiny magnificent place that honors who we are: Hospitality, Nature, Aesthetics.
if you are looking for a relaxing vacation in paradise, you cannot do better. simple but comfortable accommodations right on the most beautiful beach you are likely to have ever seen. it is very private due to the challenging approach road. small tourist boats stop by throughout the day bringing swimmers and others wanting to enjoy a lunch at the restaurant, but they never made it feel like a crowd. the staff is incredible; attentive and friendly, they all work very hard to make your visit as perfect as it can be. the food is excellent. no need to leave the beach to eat. talk about fresh fish...i had the best sashimi i have ever eaten, as well as fresh oysters that i watched a diver gather from the bay. turtles use the beach for nesting, and we had several nights of helping newly hatched babies get into the sea, as well as watching mama lumber up the beach to lay her eggs just a few dozen meters from our dinner table! we also saw whales on several different occasions. paddle boards and kayaks are available for exploring. the owner of the hotel is a mezcal afficiando, and they offer a wide variety of this local spirit, as well as other deliciously crafted cocktails. my favorite is the gordini! jorge campos can often be found holding court on the beach around sunset, (along with his beautiful wife lauda) and it makes for a lovely evening of fun and lively conversation. yoga in the morning, massage in the afternoon, siestas, swims, nearly perfect weather year round...i cannot say enough. just go, and maybe we'll see you there!…
Lovely place!! I can’t wait to return, couldn’t have been better. I highly recommend All the staff are so friendly, the food is great. Especially the evening meal that changes every night. I’m still dreaming about the passion fruit mousse! I’ll be back!
We stayed in this property for only a couple of days but we definitely will come back. It makes you feel you are actually in Mexico, feels traditional. Staff welcomes you always with a smile and are extremely helpful and the owner makes you feel like home. Excellent food, romantic dinners, and views to the Pacific to die for. It is located by one of the few beaches in the area that are fully swimmable. Choose this spot for a few days away from everything, just to relax by the beach. Choose one of the cabinas on the mountain if you wish to enjoy beautiful view. The cocktails could be better but this only a very minor setback in a special place
Once you arrive at this little secret enclave the world melts away. We didn’t want to leave. The food is excellent, the staff is extremely attentive, and the vibe can’t be beat. Be sure to take one of the kayaks or paddle boards out for a spin as the coast is really beautiful.
Does this sound like you? You love to spend part of your vacation in peace, stillness, & natural beauty. The thought of being in an isolated paradise with a handful of funky, simple, gorgeous cabanas soothes your soul. You'd love to wake up and thing hmmmm- what will we do today? Swim? Snorkel? Lay for hours on our swinging outdoor Bali bed and alternately read, doze, snuggle, watch the birds, the skate jumping out of the water, the local fishermen, and the pristine jewelled bay? Then at some point, wander the few minutes down the beach to the simple palapa fora virgin Pina Colada and fresh ceviche? Then...time for an afternoon nap...another swim...and then dusk falls. Now it's time to wander toward the torch-lit tables in the sand and dine on a wonderful 3 course meal. Then, if you are as lucky as we were, on your stroll back to your cabana, hand in hand, you witness mother turtles - who's extraordinary and almost inexplicable homing instincts imprinted them on this very beach where they were born at least 14 - if not 54 - years ago- digging her nest and laying her eggs. And then...at the base of the stairs up to our cabana - hatchlings. Baby turtles. Striving with surprising speed toward the sea... Yes, we love La Luna. My dad lives in Hautulco and he found Luna while exploring the coast. My hubby and I honeymooned there in 2018 and have returned in 2020 and again just now, Feb 2022. We come to Luna to rest. To be still. To appreciate beauty, nature, good food and relaxation. Completely isolated and in the rhythm of an exhale, we come to unwind, then fill up again. So if that appeals to you, book your moon-bay retreat. You will love it. And...if loud all-inclusives, constant entertainment and busy-ness appeal? Enjoy your stay at the many other places that will meet your needs. We will wave at you from the silence of our Bali Bed.…
Thatched roof casitas, incredible ocean views, great food, great snorkeling, relaxation personified! You can have hillside or beach front casitas. The owner and his wife were there when we were there and they just could not have been nicer or more welcoming. Kayaks are available also... and a lot of fun.
