If you're lucky enough to spend time in Arniston, BS is a wonderful base. Its bright airy and very comfy. The host was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful, and there is a restaurant on site. Cannot recommend enough!
Located within easy walking distance from Kalk Bay's busy heart, but quiet and well off the main road. Lovely art works, relaxed and easy space, way more welcoming than any hotel could dream to be. Clean and comfortable.
We stayed new year's eve 31st December 2019 in the Master suite. Yoliswa, our host, was gracious and kind. I cannot fault one single thing about our room, the breakfast, or anything. It was unforgettable, thank you😊
The 3rd or 4th time we stay we Blue on Blue...each visit to St James we stay here. Comfy rooms, great personalised English breakfast and other goodies. Yolisiwa is the best hostess in my opinion. Looking forward to our next stay in September 2020
The lady in charge was very friendly, but I do not think that she is properly equipped to run the place on her own. she called me ahead to ask what time I would be arriving. I arrived exactly in that timeframe, but found myself stranded in front of a locked gate and no response from the buzzer or telephone. I called the booking agent who called the owner, so eventually the gates opened. Apparently it was due to load shedding, but I would have expected her to keep an eye on the driveway I expected someone to come rushing out and apologising for making me wait almost ten minutes at the gate, but was met by no-one. I was not sure where to park my car, and also not exactly sure where to enter the house. I went to what I assumed was the front door and had to call out a number of times before the lady came running from the direction of my room. Clearly she has still been hastily preparing my room. she greeted met in a very friendly way and gave me a tour of the house. my room looked well appointed, but I was disappointed to realise that there were no coffee-making facilites or TV in the room. If it was mentioned on the website, I did not notice. there was no toilet paper in the room and also no towels set out. She told me I could help myself to towels from the wardrobe, which was filled from top to bottom with towels, hardly any place for my clothes! the lady, whose name I asked but cannot spell, told me that I could make myself coffee in the kitchen, which according to the guest book is off limits to guests. She showed me a drawer where I could get myself teaspoons, and said I could fetch milk from the fridge. This might seem a cosy arrangement, but it made me feel uncomfortable. The washbasin in my room was clogged and it caused the most vile smell. I did not tell her about this immediately, because I did not want to vacate my room to allow someone to fix the problem. I do accept that it can hardly be her fault, but I think she knew about it because the windows of my room were thrown wide open when I arrived. The next evening I had to call her to say that loadshedding was imminent, and to look out for me at the gate, because I did not think that she would have made the necessary arrangements. She then simply left the gate open, for anyone to enter. She knew about the loadshedding beforehand and should have made arrangements. There were bundles of dirty and clean linen in the hallway the entire time. Pity, because it is a beautiful place.…
