I spent a fortnight in this rather special B&B. I appreciated the position (with a view of the bay from my bedroom), the simple but stylish furnishing and decoration and the efficient management of the establishment.
It is always a pleasure to be able to add a place to one's list of "places to stay" and Blue on Blue is now on my list. The house is well positioned off the main road but with easy access, albeit a bit of a steep one. The room I stayed in, with en-suite bathroom, was spacious with both a lovely sea view and the necessary wingback chair and ottoman to do the viewing...the bookcase was also stocked with an interesting range of titles. Breakfast was standard, and freshly presented. Yoliswa was in attendance and available to assist as required. I would urge management to ensure adequate, available, lighting for evening load shedding - an unfortunate reality. The overall look and feel of the interior design/fittings, generally, certainly makes one aware that a lot of thought went into creating a unique atmosphere which I certainly appreciated. . …
Good location in St James. Good welcome and good breakfast. Furnishings look somewhat tired but very comfortable bed. Would help to have kettle and tea/coffee in each room rather than having to go to the kitchen.
We loved our stay at Blue on Blue!! Service was excellent - kind, caring, friendly. The place was pristine clean and had a lovely welcoming feel. Met lovely guests who also had only good to say about Blue on Blue! Loved the short walk to the beach every morning.
Our stay at Blue on Blue Bed and Breakfast was very nice! Not luxurious, but that is not what we were expecting! We found a very charming, extremely clean bed and breakfast! The manager was very friendly and accommodating! Advice is to definitely follow the owner's advice of getting into the property, the approaching drive way is very steep - but completely doable! The breakfast was wonderful and it is a 2.5km walk to Muizenberg beach along a footpath adjacent to the beach. Unfortunately the charming changing beach huts were being renovated so we missed seeing those by the tidal pool. The only downside, and why I gave this property a 4 star rating, was because it is adjacent to a school. Fortunately for us, being woken early was not an issue, but might be for those who would rather sleep past 6.45am! I look forward to staying here again!…
Lovely old house, very comfortable and great breakfast with good service. I like to give feedback, but really to see expect 200 characters pushes the request too far. Please consider how ask for feedback!!
Yoliswa was a star! The rooms have no coffee and tea facilities. The shower was small and one kept brushing against the cold shower curtain. No air-conditioner. A lot of the crockery was chipped. The location was great! We had a bit of a seaview - lovely! We could hear the waves. A quaint and cosy place but lacking in some aspects.
Great location to explore St James and Kalkbay and surroundings. Close to Kalk bay theatre and the Brass Bell restaurant. Breakfast good. Room and bathroom a bit out dated. Friendly and helpfull assistant
WiFi was extremely unreliable; I don’t want to be told to limit my usage and make a donation, as per the handbook There was a huge amount of noise every night from downstairs The breakfasts were OK, but nothing amazing The location is superb Some of the ‘rules’ in the handbook need serious revision
I am an Architect so I found the decor absolutely wonderful with a truly African nostalgic retro flavour within an Arts & Crafts late Victorian building. The staff were amazing & the rooms were clean and well serviced . I highly recommend this venue. The beach is across the road and the Folks Cafe is a must with Talk Bay shopping & Harbour nearby. Ibucketlist special.
