I cannot say enough about Long Bay Beach Resort! The entire visit, despite being in a pandemic, was very enjoyable and was the perfect (peaceful) getaway after being stowed away at home for the past year.
Akil was wonderful and attentive. Every concern or question we needed answered, he was quick to offer solutions to enable us to focus on our stay. For example, we didn’t know we needed a COVID-19 test to return to the USA. Akil arranged for us to go get our tests and utilized his contacts to ensure we had the most up to date information. After that, we didn’t worry about the test until the day came. Another example is when we asked Akil to help us find food unique to the island and he arranged for us to have a meal delivered, which turned out to be delicious and was the perfect end to our stay.
Long bay is a well-manicured resort with the beach just steps away from your door, especially if your have a ground floor room. The restaurant food was good and had variations each day. Plus, the staff was friendly. It’s a quaint resort so you often feel like you’re on a private island! We wish we were able to try the cocktails but bar was closed due to COVID restrictions enacted by the government.
Some minor recommendations:
1. Full privacy curtains (blackout) for the ground floor rooms or set them up to be similar to the bathroom doors. 2. Umbrellas that are solid to allow for full coverage from the sun.
Other tips for travelers:
1. There’s a grocery’s about a mile or so up the road. You can get local snacks, candy (if you have a sweet tooth like me) and water bottles/Gatorade for just a $1 USD. 2. Be brave and try renting a car. There’s a local one which is super affordable. This can allow you to see the island at your own pace without the price tag of a tour.

Long Bay Beach Resort is an excellent place to stay if you’re spending time on Tortola. As soon as we arrived, Akil met us with rum punches in hand. From there he showed us to our room and then brought us to the resort restaurant for dinner.
The Ground Floor Suite is well appointed and spacious. There is a small refrigerator available to store anything you need chilled. There is a coffee/tea area with an electric kettle, French press, cups, ground coffee, and an assortment of teas.
The bed and pillows were comfortable. There was an indoor sitting area that had a great view of the ocean if you wanted to sit inside. Outdoors, there was a large patio with nice outdoor furniture and an overhead fan if the ocean breezes can’t keep you cool.
The room is right on the beach, so it is very easy to access everything Long Bay Beach has to offer. When you are ready to come back in, there is a spigot to hose the sand off of your feet/legs before you come in to shower off. The shower area is large and has a door connected to your patio area so you don’t have to track sand/water through your room. The outside wall of the shower is glass, so you can let light in, but there is a wall switch to make the glass frosted to protect your privacy as desired.
The rest of the resort is nice and kept clean. The restaurant, 1784, has a good menu with a variety of options. There is also a bar with some swing chairs if you want to swing and drink with a perfect view.
We almost always saw Akil when we were walking around the resort and he made it clear that he was always available to us if we needed anything. He was able to provide us with a good dinner suggestion when we were interested in eating off-resort. He arranged dinner reservations and a cab for us. He was always upbeat and it made our time there much more enjoyable.
Overall, Long Bay Beach Resort is well worth the visit if you are staying in Tortola and are looking for an upscale resort with spacious rooms, great views, and wonderful people.

When the cab pulled up from the airport, Akil was waiting with Ice Cold Rum Punch and that set the tone for the rest of the trip! He and Karema took wonderful care of us the entire time. The room itself was beautiful and everything was artistic and lovely, down to the wicker tray with the french press and organic coffee on the desk. The beach is beautiful and from my balcony I enjoyed a huge , bright rainbow every morning. It was incredible. The sound of the sea put me to sleep every night and woke me every morning. The coolest thing in the room was the little switch that changes the huge picture window in the shower overlooking the sea (Yes there is a huge window in the shower so you can admire the sea while you shower - and that's not the coolest part) The coolest part is the little switch that changes the window, making it opaque for privacy whenever you need it! But the best part of the whole hotel was the front desk duo. Akil provided covid tests, irons, wine openers and a free car wash and vacuum with the speed of lightening and delivered them with jokes and great banter designed to make you comfortable asking for anything. Karema was just as efficient and her grin greeted me every time i got out of my car, so I felt very much at home. I really miss them already. They are the best thing since sliced bread! Both of them!!! Oh yeah my proudest vacation moment was mastering the tire swing. If you are looking for a lovely experience in Tortola, this really is it.

This was our first visit to the BVI and we are already planning our return to Long Bay Beach Resort! As many have written and we can confirm this location and the quality of the units is absolutely amazing. There is no other resort on Tortola that has a comparable truly white sand on the beach luxury suite access as this resort. The pictures do not even do it justice.
After my wife and I renewed our vows on St Thomas after 27 years of marriage we decided there could not be a more romantic place to spend our second honeymoon than at Long Bay and the BVI. We were not disappointed! Days before our arrival Akil contacted me to confirm the time of our arrival and if there was anything they could do special for our arrival. When we did arrive much later than expected Akil personally and warmly welcomed us with rum punch in hand! After a long days travel this was a perfect start. We were also very hungry and before even asking Akil offered if there was something he could have prepared for us even though the kitchen was closed.
The courtesy and anticipation of our needs was consistent throughout our stay from all staff members. From arranging day sailing charters, taxis, or tours Akil and his team made coordinating activities effortless. The housekeeping team also was outstanding in anticipating our needs. Oh and their linens, robes, towels, furniture is all exceptional quality like we have experienced at Ritz Carlton’s etc.
Although there is no pool we did not need or want for one, with the white sand beaches with private palapa, loungers, and the teal blue warm, swimming, snorkelling and surfing waters right outside you door!
The food was delicious and such charm the restaurant has. From exceptional sushi, and fresh fish entrees to succulent rib eyes and great wines. A romantic sunset dinner at their restaurant is a must. They have live music on Thursday and Friday nights which was fantastic and made for so much fun dancing bare feet in the sand under the stars. From Caribbean rhythms to classic rock and pop my wife loved all the playlist!
This side of the island is definitely quieter which is exactly the tropical paradise and relaxed pace we hoped for. It has the best beaches (Long Bay is the best beach on Tortola) restaurants, lush vegetation, vistas, sunsets, access to Jost and other islands for day trips and day charters.
We can attest that if you stay at Long Bay Beach Resort, like Akil likes to say, everything will be”Coolio!”

We stayed 3 nights in a beach front suite in December 2021 to end our 10 day trip around Tortola and Virgin Gorda. The property is immaculate and well maintained. The rooms are well appointed and modern. They have only been open maybe 2 months as of this review, so take that into consideration. A couple of things I would note. There isn't much else you can walk to around here and the beach isn't one I would say is that good for the BVI's. Its generally rougher/wavier than other beaches and its a bit rocky in places. On calmer days its fine for swimming, but there will be some waves. I would not recommend for snorkeling. The food at the restaurant is pretty good, but it wasn't the best we had on our trip and we preferred to venture out. The menu is pretty small, and the food quality didn't match the price point. The drinks at the bar didn't stand out in my opinion. We got a taxi into West End and stocked up the mini fridge with our own beer and wine to avoid the super high prices. They do have an upscale coffee/espresso shop on site which is nice, but they haven't quite trained everyone on how to make the drinks on the menu. Flat White's came out like latte's. The one thing that really makes this place besides the rooms/property is the service. Akil runs "Guest Services" and is always available. Whatever you need, he makes it happen. Akil is 5 stars all day every day.

Long Bay Beach Resort, is one of the most luxurious experiences I’ve ever had. Our room was EXACTLY 22 steps from the clear blue waters ( I counted). We often kept the doors to our room open to hear the waves crashing throughout the day or overnight. Even in July, the AC was able to keep the room cool enough for this.
The room decor is GOALS and the property was so meticulously decorated that you could tell how vital the aesthetic was to crafting your experience at Long bay. Quite often my wife would look to me and say, “this is unreal. Is this place actually real?” SUCCESS.
The food and menus were definitely something that the hotel put a lot of pride into and it shows. From freshly caught Anegada lobster tail to their signature Thai chicken Curry dish, the food was a highlight. The bar looks out over the water and the drink menu is quite refined.
Also the hotel offers a dedicated crew of drivers for hassle free transport around the island. No need to worry about getting taxis!
In conclusion, if you value a property that is equally as gorgeous as the breathtaking beachfront experience then I don’t think you will find anything better than Long Bay Beach Resort in all of the BVI’s.

Longbay is pure bliss. The rooms were gorgeous and the view from the room is breathtaking. Bedding was so cozy and crisp. The entire staff is welcoming and kind.
Akil met us upon arrival and showed us around. He seemed to ALWAYS be there, so I’m not sure when he sleeps!
We left the room at different times daily and when we would return it would be pristine and refreshed with fresh coffee, water and a cleaned French press for the next morning.
They had bikes, paddle boards, surf boards and snorkel equipment available. The restaurant and beach bar were beautiful.
This was by far the most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Longbay!

We had an incredible time at Long Bay Beach Resort. The rooms are luxurious, clean and modern and all have walk out access to the beach. It felt like we had our own private beach villa! The property is small and intimate, meaning it never felt crowded. The beach is beautiful, soft and sandy. The water can be a bit rough for swimming but the seclusion was worth it. There is an excellent restaurant on site as well as a beach bar complete with ocean facing swings! Akil, the guest relations manager, is friendly and helpful and seamlessly arranges day trips, COVID tests and airport/ferry transfers. He will also drive you in the resort’s Moke (mini beach Jeep) to nearby attractions such as Smuggler’s Cove, a nearby beach where water is a bit calmer. We couldn’t recommend Long Bay enough, we will definitely be back!

What a beautiful place! We really enjoyed our stay at Long Bay, and much of it had to do with an incredible guy-Akil. He seemed to be always available and was extremely helpful. If we needed a taxi, a rental car, or wanted to do anything or needed advice, he was always ready to assist us. The resort is well made, we initially checked into a hillside room, but moved to a beach room, which we highly recommend. You can fall asleep listening to the waves as they lap the beach. The room was very comfortable as was the bed. We made ourselves coffee every morning with the complimentary french press and Italian mineral water. The shower is very large with a big rainwater head and has a window which allows you to view the ocean while showering, but also has a switch to make the window opaque for privacy! We were very busy diving, etc, so it was nice to come back to the resort and walk down the beach. The entire hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

The position of these room are just superb. When you open the door and walk through the beautifully appointed rooms you are treated to the most spectacular view. The showers are fantastic with doors opening up to the ocean, that glaze over with a touch of a switch. We’ve been back over a month now and I still look back over the photos we took there. The only thing we really missed was bed side lamps, but hey I can live with that. The ocean directly in front is a little rocky.

I agree the best route is to fly into St Thomas and take a ferry or private water taxi. If you take a private water taxi or charter the crew can help with customs. They know exactly what you need and at what points and can even take you to a port that is not as busy to save you some time. They will meet you at the airport as well.
There are more places to choose from in the Long Bay area.
