The Room 211 - Superior One Bedroom apartment - Self Catering - which gave us a little bit of a bigger room for our teenage children. The rooms could have been cleaner even had a large cockroach running across the floor one night had to call reception to get rid of it. The balcony was disappointing it had a large tree/bush covering it and so was not a great view considering we was on level2, we normally like to sit have a drink play cards but we could not do that as we had insects buzzing around us and would come into the apartment. So we did not use the balcony. The Pool area was kept clean and tidy and the gardens are well maintained. You did not need to rush to get a sun bed around the pool area.

Where do I start. We arrived 21st August and were dropped off at the wrong hotel, taken to the other reception allocated room 310. On 1st impressions we thought we had been taken to the wrong apartment. We booked a superior one bedroom apartment with garden view, the view was of a stack of air conditioning units one side and of the maintenance departments car on the other! The front door of the apartment would not open properly and jammed half way open. We also booked self catering (we didn't even have a kettle). Rang reception and asked if we could get one - just for a cup of tea in the morning (we don't cook on holiday) 2 days later nothing! We flagged a lady with a clip board down passing and asked if we could have a kettle and maybe a toaster. She said you don't have one, we then showed her the bare work top with nothing on it. She said yes to a kettle no to a toaster?? There isn't even a tea towel provided. The maid hammered on our door from 8am each morning every 20 minutes (we had 2, 17 year old girls with us who whilst on holiday did not want to get up and out by 8am)! The maid was sullen and rude when we said please come back a bit later. If we didn't get out she would simply not come back!! and we would have to ring reception on our return, quite often we had no clean towels or toilet roll left and after day 3 she took the duvet covers and never replaced them. After several calls to reception over 3 days (our daughter refused to use the bare duvet and just had a sheet to sleep in) No duvet covers were sent, our daughter went to reception herself and the gentle man said he would bring them himself if they weren't provided. A lovely lady came and brought them for us, I asked could she be our maid as she was sweet, not sullen and rude. On inspection of the toilet when we arrived it was filthy (I could post a photo but don't wish to put people off their dinner) We reported this several times again no one came, so once more we flagged a passing lady and took her to see the toilet, she screwed her face up and said she would send someone. (I would of cleaned it myself but there was nothing to clean it with). Someone did come and have a go at the toilet but it was still covered in brown limescale! At no time in our stay did the maid clean, hair and bits of dirt stayed in exactly the same place ( unless I removed them) Onwards!! The safe and air conditioner broke while we were there the air conditioner flooded the floor and soaked the bottom of my dresses whilst we were out. The shower waste was blocked and flooded the bathroom, upon inspection it was full of old matted hair. We cleaned it to our ability, but it flooded again and again maintenance were called (in their defense they came straight away each time and fixed the problem). The general concensus was this part of the complex is not kept to the same level as the holiday village (We didn't know this existed when booking as it is 1st Choice only) The pool area would be flooded with huge families on weekends and they would be eating crisps and drop empty drink bottles in the pool (hardly the serene ambiance we were led to believe when booking) The final straw was we were due to be picked up by private taxi for our return. We waited in reception as requested 1/2 hour prior to pick up time, no one came! We called the helpline no. and they said you weren't there and pay for another!! My husband said I have already paid, what if I couldn't afford it! The reply was "not my problem" It transpired the taxi was going to the wrong hotel. After 40 minutes after pick up time my husband ran to the other hotel and spoke with a 1st choice rep who said he had spoken with the taxi driver and said you are at the wrong hotel! He just shrugged his shoulders and left he said! Very helpfully he rang the company and told them to come back, to the correct hotel. When he turned up we were really worried we would miss our flight! Thankfully the flight was delayed by 2 hours (we didn't know this at the time) We were literally the last people to check in for the flight. When in the departures the final icing was that the flight had diverted to Bulgaria on the outward journey as someone had been disruptive on board and we were now delayed by 5 hours!!! The end!!

Reviews must be in context. One person's great is another person's nasty. I am a 5 star type of person. I want full service and amazing fixtures. With this in mind... This was booked for me by a friend, and maybe he doesn't like me much, who knows? If this hotel is really a 4 star, then the jump to 5 is absolutely huge! By my metric this is a 2 star hotel. There is no service, you have to do everything yourself. The wifi is atrocious, i couldn't connect at all in my room and everywhere else it kept dropping out. The place is clean...ish. It is quiet, but far from anything or anywhere. The food options in the hotel are dire and there isn't anywhere close by, unless you drive or get a bus. It is pretty and the grounds are well kept, and the pools are clean! Personally, I would not stay here again. However, if you're used to 2 star hotels, and find this "4 star" hotel at a good price, you'll probably say this place is great!

I enjoyed our stay in the hotel, we booked through jet2 and there seemed to be a bit of rivalry between 1st choice about AI and full board+. We had a swim up room that was a really nice treat, the restaurants were clean and plenty of choice, for the first time I didn't use the a la carte's as every evening had a different theme. I found the food had plenty of choice and was constantly checked and hot food was actually hot. Beer was fine and wine and cocktails great. I thought the place needed a bit of a clean up, as it looked a bit grimy in places, saying that the staff were all polite and friendly. We had an issue with the safe and it was sorted within no time, the golf buggies are a nice touch for traversing the resort. I didn't use the sports facilities, but they all looked well kept and use able, loungers around the pool were comfortable and plentiful. The shop was well stocked and more restaurants and shops not too far away. The resort is really well laid out, the bougainvillea stunning and has a Mediterranean village feel to it. I would definitely recommend the resort, and will be going again, maybe a slightly cooler time of the year as there's plenty to see outside of the resort.

The Aliathon Aegean is part of a large village complex, the Aegean seams to be the older side for self catering apartments and studios and the Idonian side is the newer part which I think is the all inclusive side. However you can use the pools etc on both sides. Our studio was very large, a small kitchen area as you walked in, we only used the fridge but there was a small sink (no draining area) a 2 ring hob but we never used it. The living area was nice and big, 1 armchair, a table with 2 stools, a dressing table, long mirror and plenty of wardrobe space with plenty of hangers, the bed was 2 large singles pushed together and were nice and comfy. The air conditioning was great, you can control this yourself. The only issue I came across was the lead on the hairdryer was so short that it wouldn’t reach from the plug near the dressing table to the mirror or my head! The only plug I could use so I could reach the hairdryer to my head was the one in the kitchen area! Not really very hygienic but we didn’t use the kitchen so wasn’t a problem but not ideal. The shower was broken when we arrived but the maintenance chap was there within 15 mins and mended it straight away. We were in room 722 and we overlooked the swim up suites which was a nice view, with a balcony with a small table and 2 chairs. The rooms were cleaned regularly however it varied each day what towels we were left! Sometimes we only got 2 bath towels and no hand towels or bath mat and other days we got plenty. We spent most of our time around the Lagoon pool as we prefer to get in the pool from a sloped entrance which was ideal, it was a lovely pool and the barmaid was so friendly, polite and happy. There was one issue round the pool where it seemed locals had taken over the pool but after a couple of hours I assumed someone had complained and they were asked to leave. We were bed and breakfast, at first view the breakfast didn’t look much but to be honest it was lovely and plentiful. There were plenty of breads, cheeses, hams, pastries, fruits, cereals, nuts, bacon, beans, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, tomatoes and some dodgy sausages! All in all we’ve had a lovely holiday and would definitely return.

We had great time It is a very nice and large resort with plenty of room type to choose from. It is near the beach but not the first line, 2ed line. There are plenty of activities, pools and a good gym. The staff are very friendly and cooperative. Hoping to come back soon

The best thing about this hotel was the air-conditioning and the hard working cleaners and gardeners , We were booked on a half-board basis. The breakfast was served in one part of the complex and the evening meal in a different part. On the first morning the milk was off, due to a power-cut the day before and the fridges went off, and yet even though there was lumps in the milk it was served to the guests. Over all I think the standard of food was below what one has come to expect from a 4 star hotel. I would not recommend the Aliathon Aegean.

I arrived home on Monday after a week at the Aliathon holiday village! Neither me or my daughter wanted to leave!! We had an amazing holiday, all the staff are brilliant and nothing was ever to much for them! The rooms are cleaned daily and you get fresh towels daily. I enjoyed all the food however my daughter is fussy and stuck to what she knows she likes. The resort is clean and tidy, the only messes are where people don’t clean up their own mess and put their stuff in the bin which there is plenty of around the resort. Me and my daughter enjoyed our time here so much we was home 2 nights and rebooked to go in October! Thank you for having us Aliathon and look forward to coming back in October!
