We fell upon this place after a long walk in the fell above Elterwater. We had lunch there on a Sunday. They were able to accommodate us in a very welcoming way. Try the Club Sandwiches, there were to die for.

We returned to The Eltermere Inn after a few years away and found it to be just as good as we remembered. The setting is wonderful with rooms on the front enjoying the best of the views over the lake and the river. The welcome is warm, the atmosphere friendly but not obtrusive and the food is quite simply excellent....

My husband treated me to lunch here for my birthday, we passed The Britannia Inn on the way, it was so busy we carried on five minutes more with our original plan, so glad we did. Ruth & Mark gave a warm welcome on arrival, ordered lunch from the specials board and sat in the delightful gardens basking in the...

Best meal we have had in the Lakes and for me, anywhere. We've had a lot in 30years of visiting including L'Enclume. The Bouilibase starter was generous in the extreme in both flavour and quantity. The pork belly taught me that what is usually an unvarying dish can be done so much better. And the regular waitresses were both charming...

We came here seven nights in a row this time last year and thought it was fantastic (clearly). We booked last night for seven to take some friends. It took us ages to be served and when we did the two waitresses and waiter were unbelievably rude and unaccommodating. We had to keep going to the bar to order drinks...

This is a beautiful Inn in a quiet location in Elterwater. A huge open fire , subdued lighting, deep carpets and a lovely setting to relax in after a hard day's walking in the Lake District. We have eaten here before and were not disappointed on our return visit this week. My husband enjoyed the wild mushroom, spinach and kale...

We went for a dinner at The Eltermere Inn after a long day of driving - our hotel outside Ambleside didn't have a restaurant and the Eltermere Inn's restaurant was one in a list of suggestions for nearby places to eat. We called ahead to make a last minute reservation as it's a relatively popular restaurant. The setting is beautiful,...

Popped in after a long walk for lunch. A friendly welcome, great food and a beautiful old building with tonnes of character. We had the brie and bacon sandwiches with chunky chips, which were delicious. Will certainly call in again when we are in the area.

If you want the Best Afternoon Tea, with the nicest interior, log burning fires, comfy seating, good service, especially for the weary walker a place to visit. This is a hidden secret with its relaxed atmosphere, good range of ales, friendly service and enough seating for all. Only regret we didn't call in for bacon butties on our walk earlier.
