The Britannia Pub is the centre of life in this tiny village. A favourite pub of ours for very many years when we did a lot of fell walking and now also good for less demanding walks along the beautiful Langdale Valley with its lovey river and the truly beautiful Elterwater Lake. The food is always good with delicious bar...

For food, drink, pub ambiance and location, the Britannia cannot be beaten. It is a great pub, every time I've visited, both food and beer have been very good. On this visit, we stayed here for the first time and won't be going back. The service was dis-interested (staff too busy perhaps?), the breakfast very average and the room way...

We had a very nice lunch sitting in the sun watching the sheep. My husband loved the 'noggy' and we both enjoyed a sandwich and cheesy chips. We are considering staying here in the Autumn as it is very well situated for walking and looks very cosy.

Birthday treat night away from/with my wife. Beautifully situated in the Langdale Valley in the picture perfect village of Elterwater. This visit was our first there for a few years as we now live in the area and it was a birthday treat. The inn has a great range of ales and the room was comfortable with a new shower-room....

Stayed for 1 night while in the lakes, were lucky that was beautiful evening so could sit outside as inside rather small. Food was British pub food at its best with the best sticky toffee pudding ever! Rooms were small (as to be expected in an old building) but modernised tastefully. Good breakfast but shame no Haggis! Would definitely stay...

Nice evening meal outside. Food of good standard and stayed for deserts. All nicely prepared and presented. Seemed a bit crowded in the bar area which allowed dogs. The restaurant area seemed quieter.

The bar was busy because the weather was inclement so we elected to dine in the restaurant. There is a 10% supplement for eating there (this is not a gratuity). The meal was excellent and well served by pleasant and attentive staff. The hotel is somewhat dated, but this seemed to add to its atmosphere. Superb location.

We visited here after a long walk along Lingmore Fell, which is a circular walk that starts from here. The bar staff are very friendly & accommodating & the front bar is very sweet & snug. This allowed us to strike up conversations with local ramblers (& Holly the Lab) which all made for a friendly experience. We booked a...

Have been going to the Britannia Inn for many years and it never fails to disappoint . Staff are friendly and efficient food is good and whole atmosphere is a joy. Only downside is it is now becoming so busy that at times it can get claustrophobic

We dined at this lovely Inn on a gorgeous Summers Evening. It's a picture postcard inn, straight-off a chocolate box. The food was good and there is an excellent choice of beers. Definitely worth a visit.
