Been staying here now for about 5/6 years on an annual basis with a gang of pals on our annual 'Ales & Hike Tour'. Top place. Great rooms, great beer, great breakfast and great evening meals in the bar areas. On a warm, dry night sit outside taking in the views and on a cold, wet one step inside the... More

Just amazing Perfect if you like proper beer and fantastic food. Love the setting and my absolute favourite is the venison every time :-) Look after us well and always very friendly and accommodating. We're up in Langdale at least twice a year and this is our favourite place without a doubt

The Britannia Inn is the perfect location to stay in Elterwater as many hiking routes start or pass through it. It can get busy in the evenings with service at the bar sometimes a tad slow but always with a warm smile. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and really make you feel at home. We had an ensuite room... More

Happy to find this lovely pub, very conveniently located for dinner whilst staying in a nearby hotel, and for lunchtime refreshments during our walks in the Langdale Valley area. The pub certainly has spectacular views, and was especially popular for walkers to sit outside in the evening sun. So not always easy to find a table. Menu changed during the... More

We came across this place quite by chance. The staff are friendly and the service quick. Our food was delicious and I would highly recommend it. We will return on our next visit to the lakes. This is clearly a popular spot so arrive early to get a good table outside :-)

My girlfriends and I stayed here for one night during our 6-day hike along the Cumbria Way. Great Inn, everything that a traditional Cumbrian Pub should be; great atmosphere, great beer, food menu was extensive and different (mushroom risotto was excellent), and nice warm, clean comfy rooms. Breakfast is included in the price and was very filling, just as needed... More

What more can you ask for after a day walking the fells and edges of the lakes? This place has a small bar on one side that must be snug and warm in the winter, but in the summer, the garden spreads to the village green, complete with sycamore, with flowers and hanging baskets, families, dogs and tourists relaxing with... Set in quiet Elterwater village at the start/end of a lovely riverside walk to skelwithbridge passing skelwith ghyll en route. Lovely sunny beer garden today with beautiful flower beds. Good selection of beers. We have not eaten but food looks appetising.

Rarely do I leave reviews on here but felt I had to, the food here is outstanding. The fishcakes were beautiful, my brother got haggis which looked and tasted equally as good. And as the title says, the chicken ham and leek pie was unreal! We'll be back!

We ate here on 26th July. We booked the table for 6.30 on the understanding that we would have it for 2 hours. When we arrived it turned out to be one and a half. We skipped starters because we thought there would not be enough time. Four of the main courses took 45 minutes to arrive. The fifth arrived... More
