A hidden gem on the island. Together with 10 villas on site, everything is great, friendly staff, peaceful, good location in Lamai where you are not in the middle of the loudness but with short drive you can go to local shops and cafes etc.

Price is reasonable, staff are like a family on site, very friendly.

Located in a cozy and quiet complex which gives us a very warm and family feeling during the stay. From the villa manager to the housekeeping girls, everyone is very friendly and helpful. This accommodation is very much worth the value and we will come back again.

Believe the other reviews. Baan Saitara is a great option for your Samui vacation, and a good value. I stayed with a buddy, and this wonderful villa was better and less expensive than it would have been to book two hotel rooms for the same duration. Having your own private pool is amazing, as is the daily maid service. The views are just as shown - captivating. I would absolutely repeat.

There are however a few things you might benefit from knowing in advance. In no way a dig or detraction, just good information to have.

-There are multiple villas so the exact decor of the one you get may vary from the photos. We stayed in villa three which was fine.

- The villa is up a fairly steep hill from the main road, with almost nothing within walking distance. If you're a keen walker, you might not mind walking down to catch a sang thew into town, but you're probably not going to want to carry heavy groceries like water or other drinks on foot. For that you will need expensive taxi rides, or your own vehicle. Rides into Lamai cost us around 400 baht each way. It wasn't a big deal for us for a week, but might be for a longer stay, or if you went out more often.

- Some tour companies wouldn't pick us up at the villa, either because it was not a known hotel to them or possibly because it is up a steep hill that their vans don't easily navigate. We chose to walk down to the main road in these cases.

- The kitchen didn't have some of the 'usual' consumable items you might expect in a property rental. For example, no sugar, salt, pepper, paper towels or napkins. It isn't always easy to remember you need to pick up sugar for your coffee, or convenient to buy a small amount. Otherwise the kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, plates, cups, etc.

- Payment of the deposit by wire transfer was nerve wracking for me. Obviously it worked out, but I was wary of making payment in this way since wire transfers are often used by scammers. There was an almost five business day delay from the time I sent the deposit until it cleared and was acknowledged by the property.

I hope you find this helpful. I want to emphasize how lovely the villas are, and how happy I was to have stayed there. I would suggest Baan Saitara to anyone looking to have a relaxing and beautiful island stay.

Dear Ricky and Cat!
Just to let you know we had a great time at your villa.
Your villa is really fantastic and the staff was perfect!
It is located high up on the side of a hill with wonderful views. We really enjoyed the outdoor space where we had dinner overlooking the beautiful sea and mountains. The pool was wonderful and very clean.
Cat was very welcoming and helped us with the information about the sightseeing, shops, etc.
She gave us a local mobile phone with credit on it to contact her or Ricky if we had any questions.
We definitely will be back

We just returned from a week at Baan Saitara- the remote location was a bit concerning as we arrived; however Cat was quick to help us with logistics providing options of a rental car or private for hire driver or taxi. She was always available to help us and answer any question- they even provide a local cellphone for use while staying at the property! Cat arranged a driver to take us to the Lotus grocery- she provided other suggestions- Lamai night market on Sunday night and the not to be missed Fisherman's Village night market on Friday night- everything worked out great. When we arrived I asked her about a cook and she quickly jumped into action with the cook starting the next day at lunchtime (24hrs notice)...this is DEFINITELY the way to go- very affordable and provides you more time for relaxation- we literally stayed in the pool until our meals were ready- no need to get dressed, arrange the driver and go out- however it is flexible enough to change plans if required! The daily maid service was another awesome feature of this property- they were meticulous in their cleaning! We did venture to Chaweng beach (the beach near the property isn't really fit for swimming (not well maintained)...but who needs a beach when you have a private pool with the view of the water? After our trip to Chaweng I was even more pleased with our decision to be remote- it was busy...lots of shops- not private. So glad we made the choice we did! Thanks Cat & Ricky (thanks for the great pre-trip communications!)

Stayed at Baan Saitara for about 2 weeks in December with 4 adults and a 2 year old toddler. Stayed one week in villa 4 and the remainder in villa 8. Absolutely gorgeous villas with stunning south east views of Koh Samui. Both Villas are spacious, clean and luxurious…we were often content just relaxing and enjoying the villa making occasional trips into Lamai area for supplies and food. The villas are of quality construction and nicely renovated each with its own private pool overlooking the beautiful vista. Villa 4 is a bit smaller (3 rooms) and simpler while villa 8 is larger with four rooms and better furnished (kitchen with large island, entertainment systems, network printer, desks, nice traditional thai art, etc.). Each villa is fully equipped with everything you need. From nice wide screen TVs with 100s of English and Asian channels, fully equipped kitchens, and all the towels, bathrobes and linens you need; to comfortable couches and beds for relaxing and sleeping. The villas also have good wifi coverage. At first the wifi and one of the air con units (for the living room) were not working well when we initially checked into villa 4. Ricky took care of these problems right away and had them both fixed by the next day. Villa 8 actually had very goof wifi and had three access points just for that villa.
Very kid friendly and safe environment for my toddler. The villas are situated high amongst the hills so a car is really a must have (and easily arranged through Kat or Ricky). Villas are cleaned daily as well as the pool and staff are friendly and nice. Ricky and Kat are fabulous hosts and always available to assist. They really go out of their way to make sure you stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We were provided free transfers to and from the airport. They also provide you with a local cell phone for convenience and so that you can contact them at anytime.
I highly recommend Baan Saitara for your Koh Samui experience. Just like another reviewer mentioned, I almost don’t want to give this rave review in case it makes it harder for me to book in the future. This is definitely a little hidden gem and a great value.

We're a familiy with three teenage Kids and we spent 3 weeks from sept. 28th to october 18th at Baan Saitara. We stayed in Villa 4 and it was just perfect. The house was exactly as shown in the pictures, very clean and well maintained. The view was absolutely spectacular, and we enjoyed the daily maid service. Having travelled a lot, we were very positively surprised how well everything was organised. We were picked up at the airport as promised, at the villa, Cat, the property manager allready awaited us and showed us around. We had asked the property management to make arrangements for a rental car, which was delivered at the villa upon arrival, even though it was a sunday evening. The car was in excellent condition and the rate very reasonable. We didn't use the cook but we enjoyed the many small restaurants, all over the island and the food was excellent at very low prices. We often even ate breakfast right at the beach. The location of the villa was perfect for us since it was nice and quiet but within short distance of all the action. We would absolutely recommend to stay at Baan Saitara, we had an unforgettable vacation and hope to be back sometime soon!
