We had a great 8 night stay at the Westin Hapuna Beach. The resort was very clean, easy to navigate and all ocean views, a must on our tropical hotel list. As Bonvoy platinum members we chose the continental breakfast for 2. We had a party of 3 (1 child) and on the first day, we were told our child could eat off the fruit and bread delivered to the table. We did this each morning without issue until the last day, when our waitress said this was not allowed. This was genuinely the first time we found a staff member at the resort to be less than kind, caring or accommodating. A meal at Merida is a must! The pizzas at Piko are great, but we wished Kona Brewing would have delivered that far. The on-site laundry for free was greatly appreciated. The shuttle to Mauna Kea for the Luau could have been better planned for by staff as there were 20+ of us that showed up for the 5pm shuttle - but the staff did a great job of improving and getting all guests there. The beach was fantastic and the boggie board rentals were well worth it. Service at the pool for food and drinks was good, but slow at times. It would have been nice if the service was extended to the beach. We had a rental for part of our trip and had no parking issues, and were properly charge for the time we used the garage. All in all, we had a great stay and would highly recommend this resort for families. …
Beautiful resort, very nice tidy rooms, nice view on public beach, nice adults only pool area. Dinner options are less appealing, sunset cocktails and views from poolside bar have bit lacking. For cocktails and dinner we prefered to take free shuttle to Manua Kea Beach Hotel. Overall bit pricey for such a big resort style accomodation.
A splurge, but worth it. Rooms and bathrooms are luxurious. The "partial" ocean view was actually an undersell -- our room had a beautiful ocean view from the nicely appointed balcony. The open air common spaces were comfortable and generally felt uncrowded. The clean, free, and well-stocked guest laundry was an unexpected bonus. This is a place to come and relax -- it's not close to anything except the beach and golf. Food was good. It's expensive, as you'd expect, but there were options, like coffee & pastry from the bar instead of the $40 breakfast buffet. We enjoyed the live music, yoga, and kayaking. Good service.
The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort is such a beautiful resort! Hands down one of the best resorts we have stayed at. Upon check in we were greeted by friendly staff, given a beautiful fresh flower lei and delicious juice and a hand towel. The room we were assigned was absolutely gorgeous! Our room had a king size bed, a sofa, small table perfect for snacks, a coffee bar area with a really cool mood light along with a dresser with a lot of storage, tv and safe. The mini fridge was perfect for our beverages and food. The coffee maker was great too! The balcony was amazing. There was a tall table with two chairs and a sofa. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner on the balcony a few times. We had a gorgeous ocean view. The room also came with reusable water bottles and the resort has many refillable water stations throughout the property. These bottles kept our water cold for the entire day! The only thing bad I can even think of would be that the wi-fi in our room was not a good signal because we were at the very far end of the hallway very far from the lobby. We just took our laptops to the main lobby and purchased coffee from the Piko Coffee Bar in the mornings. We did some work in the lobby (plenty of nice chairs/sofa's) The lobby had an amazing view so we actually enjoyed working here. The bathroom in our room was really nice. House keeping were so friendly and refilled our coffee and toiletries. The pools are great! We loved the adult pool with the infinity edge. The koi pond is really nice. We did enjoy the beach however it was very windy the first two days that we were here so we spent more time at the pool. Tuesday and Wednesday nights were pizza night at the Piko Bar. $22 for a flatbread pizza in Hawaii is a great deal and we thought the pizza's were delicious!! The staff were so nice at the vallet parking area and offered to take us in the golf cart to pick up our rental car at the sister property, Mauna Kea Resort. We hope to return to the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort again soon!…
This was by far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Hawaii. The beach was the best part. VERY private. Clear water. Rated among the top beaches in the country. The hotel was nice also but that beach and having the private access was incredible. The room was fine nothing out of the ordinary. Clean. The room service was great also.
We stayed 7 nights at Westin Hapuna. The hotel is located on a beautiful beach. You also have access to Mauna Kea and it’s facilities. So, 2 beautiful beaches and 2 very nice golf courses. On each beach, snorkeling is best along the right side of each bay. In particular, if you can swim around the right point at Hapuna, snorkeling along the coast is great. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Because of the hotel configuration, all rooms face the ocean. Based upon my status with Marriott, we received 2 free continental breakfasts per day. This was perfectly adequate but you could pay extra to upgrade to the full buffet. Also, received a 2:00 late check-out which was very valuable to us. You need to add a daily parking fee and a resort fee to your base cost. Parking is in a covered garage. Staff were all very nice. The pool restaurant has really nice burgers. If golfing, the Mauna Kea course is MUCH tougher than the Hapuna course. If a low handicap, play Mauna Kea. If not, you probably will enjoy Hapuna more. Was very windy most of our stay. Overall, loved the stay. We’ve stayed at Mauna Kea before. Both are comparable.…
We abosolutely loved all the amenities at this hotel on the Big Island. We had two active teen boys with us and they loved the Beach, the pool, and the resort (getting snacks at the snack bar). The waves were great and the beach was beautiful. The adult pool with the inifinity edge was lovely. And we enjoyed the main pool. We had lots of fun. The fitness area is also excellent. The locker rooms were great too. Everything was lovely and up-to-date and stylish. We also enjoyed the breakfast on the resort and dinner at the Meridia restaurant which was excellent and we enjoyed lunches at the Naupaka Beach Grill (simple beach food made fresh). The rooms were great. We had a 1-bedroom, 2 bath room with a living room. The pull out bed was perfect for the boys. No issues. The mini-kitchen was great as well and came in handy. The bathrooms were nicely appointed. We really liked this hotel as it really accommodated us and our two teenage boys. We stayed on the side of the hotel closer to the Meridia Hotel and the Spal/Fitness Center. We had a great view. I would recommend staying on this side of the hotel.…
This property is located right on Hapuna beach. The views are fantastic. Open air lobby, and many different places to sit, relax and drink it all in. Staff was very welcoming, kind and helpful. Cleaning staff kept the resort very clean. Breakfast buffet was way too much food but delicious. Adult pool, all people pool, beach and many other places to lounge on property. Koi pond was cool. Serene. That’s the word for this resort. Special shout out to Dugan at front desk. He’s one in a million. Yes, the dinner restaurant choices can be limiting if you let it be. Get creative !
Enjoyed our five-night stay here with our two kids, 10 and 6. A very clean and well-maintained property. For great snorkeling, find the somewhat hidden trail on the far right of the beach (very soft white sand, best on the island), and walk a few minutes to Turtle Cove. The water there is very calm, and there are always a couple of sea turtles hanging out. Loved how wide open and breezy it was throughout the resort. Especially appreciated the complimentary reusable water bottles and water filling stations. Staff was always friendly and helpful, especially the lady who works at the beach rental shack. Would have liked better food options: food at Meridia was good but pricey; food at Naupaka was very disappointing.
Hotel and grounds are great, however primary reason why we selected Westin over the Fairmont Orchid was its Kids clubs. I checked the website prior to booking and the kids club looked great. But once we got here, turns out the kids clubs is NOT running. Usually in these types of resorts, when a hotel disappoints you they will throw a few perks your way to offset the disappointment, but here instead they offered us an upgraded to a better room for an extra $30 a night :) Not a best way to handle a mid-promised product. Would expect hotel manager to update the website as not to false advertise facilities that are not present. To be fair, they do have a kids program at their system facilities, but there is extra hassle of transportation back and forth between properties - a daily commute if you will - something you would hope to avoid on a holiday. So, hotel is great. They way they handled a mis-step is below what I’m used to.…
