Amazing staff, Rennie will make you feel at home and give you all the advice you need. Very comfortable and clean and (beautiful) rooms. Varying breakfast every morning and don't miss out on the afternoon tea! They offer beach towels and other useful things as well. Don't hesitate to go here!

Aratinga Inn exceed our expectations in every aspect! Rennie was so welcoming and friendly and really made us feel at home. We were upgraded to a cabana and it was beautiful, with a lovely hammock on the veranda. The food was excellent and the afternoon tea was a lovely extra to come back to after a day hiking!

Welcomed on arrival and felt at home instantly. Rennie is an authority on the island. The breakfast is splendid, and extremely high quality, healthy and hygienic. Rotating cakes and good range of tea. Most importantly the food is clearly cooked with love. There is a daily afternoon tea, consisting of hot drinks, (more) cake and fruits, which is just perfect after spending a day exploring the island. The location couldn't be better- away from the main busy stretches of town but a very quick walk into the centre. Excellent local restaurants. Most importantly, the gardens are bliss as is the communal 'hut'. We made use of both daily - from light exercise to enjoying a drink in the hammock reading a book. We even ate a light dinner in the garden (bought some odds and ends from a nearby shop), and were provided with plates, silverware and wine glasses to top it all off! DVDs, beach towels, beach games all available to borrow. The staff members are the happiest we met in all of Brazil and credit must go to their hard and loving work. We had a slight issue with our room which was dealt with instantly and with care, and ultimately were provided another room without any issue at all. We miss Ilha Grande dearly and would simply not consider any alternatives were we to return - thank you Rennie and co. for a wonderful stay.

I'm so pleased I chose this place and I was not disappointed. It was tranquil, Rennie the owner was warm and helpful, breakfast with hummingbirds was an exceptional experience. The location was great for everything, couldn't have had a better stay, only if it was longer! Will definitely return if I get the chance to go back.

Literally felt like we’d entered paradise when we opened the gate to Aratinga Inn! The plants and trees , the hummingbirds! Rennie was so friendly and helpful! It was like we were house guests at a relatives beautiful sanctuary. Will always have a place in my heart when I remember this stay. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, afternoon tea was a welcome surprise each day, Rennie and the staff could not do enough for you! We stayed in the deluxe double room with sea view. Only tiny thing for me was the room was very small and the bathroom could do with an update. But I’d still definitely stay here again, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Home away from Home! I'm so happy to know that you felt like that at Aratinga. Thank you for your lovely review and for letting us know that you enjoyed your stay. The gardens are lovely and we have planted many flowering trees and shrubs to attract the birds and the butterflies. The little hummingbirds are a joy to watch in the morning while you're having breakfast. The staff will be very happy to know that you enjoyed your breakfast each day and that afternoon tea was a treat at the end of the day. You are right in saying that your room was small. The original rooms of the inn were built in the 1980's, long before my time. The rooms are very typical of all Brazilian pousadas built at that time. Whilst not big, the rooms are furnished with the most comfortable of beds with superb innerspring mattresses with pillow tops and the view from the veranda over the tropical garden and out to sea is lovely. The next time that you come I'll be sure that we have one of the newer deluxe chalets available for you. They offer more space and privacy and our guests are always really happy with the level of comfort they afford. I hope that you have long and happy memories of your adventures on Ilha Grande and with your stay with us at Aratinga. Best wishes to you both.

Well I can’t praise Rennie and her staff highly enough. This little gem of a guest house was indeed a perfect sanctuary just 10 minutes walk from the lively little town on the beachfront. From the moment we arrived very hot and bothered from our journey. We were met the lovely Rennie with wet flannels !!! How thoughtful ! While cooking down Rennie then gave us a hit list of places to see and how to go about it all in our limited time there. Super lady. And the rooms were fabulous too. Then we must mention the wonderful breakfasts and of course afternoon tea which was such a nice touch and always gorgeous to sit in a outdoors dining area eating gorgeous cakes watching the hummingbirds coming in to feed too !! Absolute paradise. Can’t thank you Rennie and your staff enough !!!!

Thank you for your very kind words and for your praise. I'm so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. I agree, when it's a very hot day and you have travelled a long way, there is nothing nicer than to be greeted with ice cold towels scented with lemon grass. Wrapped around your neck they help bring your body temperature down really quickly and they alleviate the stress of feeling too hot. It's something you should try at home for hot Summer days! The garden is a delight, my passion really, and everyone loves to see the many hummingbirds and other little parrots that visit our garden. I think it's lovely to see them flying all around while we enjoy breakfast. Even though your stay was short, I hope that you have long and happy memories of your stay on Ilha Grande and with us at Aratinga. Best wishes always.

Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough! Situated only a 5-10 minute walk from the main beach/streets, it’s perfectly located to being close enough that you can pop out for a drink/dinner but equally far enough way that you can enjoy some privacy and relax. The rooms were incredibly clean and tidy whilst being bigger than I was expecting. The bed was unbelievably comfy, so much so it’s worth pointing it out! Having air con in the area is an absolute must and this worked perfectly throughout our stay. Given that accommodation in remote areas are typically less structured than you would find in a city, the room was very secure and we felt incredibly safe leaving our belongings there in the day. Rennie who owns and runs the Inn is amazing and incredibly helpful. She never hesitates to give you advice for the best places/beaches to visit eat, best places to eat and drink, pointing out places that are less authentic so you don’t fall into the tourist traps etc. It was so refreshing to have someone so authentic give you their honest thoughts, opinions and advice on how to maximise your stay. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and am confident in stating that you certainly won’t be disappointed if you choose the Arantinga Inn. Tips - Bring cash as there is no ATMs on the island! All restaurants/bars/shops take card, however you will need some cash to buy drinks on the beaches and for taking the taxi boats to the amazing beaches - Visit Lopes Mendes beach which is ranked as one of the top 10 best beaches in the world and is only a short taxi boat (and walk) away - Get the private transfer Aratinga arranges when you arrive/leave. The great man Fabio picks you up from your hotel/the inn and drives you directly to where you want to go. The mini bus option you can get for 2/3 of the price takes all day and can potentially be hell depending on how many people they are dropping off. Don’t waste a day sat in a minibus zig zagging your way around Brazil.

Thank you for taking your time to write such an amazing review of your stay with us at Aratinga. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Aratinga. I will let the staff know that you found your room spotlessly clean and I am really happy to know that you found your bed super comfy. That's what it really all about, a GREAT Bed and and even GREATER Breakfast! Thank you too for passing on so many excellent tips to future visitors to the Island. It really is a Tropical Paradise and Lopes Mendes is definitely one of the 10 Most Beautiful Beaches in the World! I won't tell Fabio that you called him a "Great man".... he might get a big head. Hahahahaha! :-) In all truth, the Aratinga Private Transfer is the fastest and most convenient way to get to and from Ilha Grande. I hope that you will both have long and happy memories of your stay on Ilha Grande and with us at Aratinga. Best wishes to you both, from me and all the Team.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Rennie, the owner goes out of her way to make recommendations for dining, hiking, taking excursions with local providers and helping to insure we got all we could out of our stay in Ilha Grande. She also seamlessly arranges for transportation to and from the Island with Fabio who met us at the Rio cruise port and delivered us to GIG, the Rio International airport. Breakfast every morning from 8 -10 was a perfect way to start the day.

So happy we choose to stay at Aratinga Inn. Convienient for the town but in a peaceful tropical location. Rooms spotlessly clean with everything you need for a most comfortable stay. Rennie the Host/Owner ensures you get the best from your stay with her excellent knowledge of the Island, beaches, boat rides and restaurants. Her hospitality is genuinely warm and helpful. Breakfast was delicous and an added bonus of afternoon tea for the guests each day. Arantinga Inn also has a lounge where you can leave your luggage, and freshen up if you arrive early or what to leave later in the day which is really helpful. Also Rennie can arrange very reasonable private transfers back up to Rio which we did. We arrived to the Island from Paraty and used paraty tours for our transfers coach and boat also recommended by Rennie. Big thank Rennie for a lovely stay and many thanks to your staff too for all their hard work. Lastly I recommend booking direct with Arantinga Inn for the best information from Rennie.

Thank you for such a lovely, and comprehensive, review of your stay with us at Aratinga. I am pleased that you were comfortable in your room and that everything was spotlessly clean. This is so important, especially so when you are in a tropical environment. I'll definitely let Camila and Regina know that you enjoyed the healthy breakfasts and the delicious afternoon teas. Those cakes are so hard to resist! Thank you for letting us know that you thought the Aratinga Private Transfer service was a good option. There's no question, it's the fastest and most convenient way to get to and from Ilha Grande in a privately chauffeured executive car, and the price is excellent. Thank you so much for staying with us. I hope you both have long and happy memories of your stay on Ilha Grande and at Aratinga.
