We had a great time at Sukau. We saw pygmy elephants, crocodiles, orangutans, and lots of birds and monkeys. The staff was extremely friendly and kind. The food was excellent with both Malaysian and western food choices. Teddy, the chef, personally prepared some chicken

Spending a couple of days in this remote lodge, in the heart of a wilderness area. You arrive after a 3 hr motor boat ride up the Kinabatangan River from Sandakan. It is one of the National Geographic Unique lodges of the world. Very environmentally conscious. No single use

Hi, Does this resort sell adidas kampung shoes please? Thank you.
Hi loretta, Unfortunately we don't have any adidas kampung shoes for sale. The best places to get them would be in town in the Sinsuran area. If you ask a taxi driver, they'll likely be able to bring you to a shop in this area that sells these shoes. psss... this area would be the cheapest place as well but make sure you bargain for it by first offering half the price of what they ask of you, that is if they don't have a set price on display. Hope that helps. Tim

Hi tapasony, thanks for your enquiry and I'll try and answer as best i can. Do clarify if you have any further questions. 1) Yes it is but it'll be a little tight. Normally the extra mattress are meant for children but it is possible for an adult to sleep on them but it won't be the most comfortable. There is a slight discount, you could send us an email and we'll provide you a detailed quote so you can decide. 2) Food requirements are not a problem for us. Normally, we'll provide some side dishes for those with specific food requirements. Everyone else just helps themselves to the self-service buffet. We try to have a good mix of Asian and western dishes on buffet at all times. 3) No vaccinations are required although some governments might try to be over careful. Specifically, we've never needed malaria vaccines or had problems with dengue as these tend to be urban diseases. April/May tends to be dry and thus less mosquitoes, although this can change at any time. Its also an El Nino year so drier still BUT this is just my estimate. 4) We're encouraging a total shift away from single use plastic so we have in all our vehicles refill stations and also spread throughout our lodge free water refill stations. Your villa will also have constantly refilled water jars. We do sell plastic bottled water but highly discourage them. Basically drinking water, coffee and tea are free all around the lodge. The villas also have a complimentary mini-bar with some soft drinks.

Hi lorettacottis, I'll leave the recommendation of how long to stay for other travelers but I can answer that you can book the accommodation as soon as you like, even if you're booking so far in advance. We would ask for a deposit to secure the booking but you're free to pay the balance only much later, closer towards your travel date. A pair of our leach socks costs RM 25 in our gift shop at SRL. You most likely won't be really needing them here though, unless you're planning on heading to Danum Valley or Maliau Basin for some serious trekking thereafter. Happy travels and we can't wait to welcome you to our little bit of earthly paradise. Tim

Hi Good2b, much apologies for the bug if its true. It could be because we don't list our room availabilities on Tripadvisor but that will change soon. The best way to book for the moment is to either send us an email thru our sukau website or our borneoecotours website. They'll both reach us the same. You can view our availabilities live on these 2 websites. Hope that helps. Tim

Was there a problem with leeches?
Hi Trekker, our entire lodge including all rooms, facilities and connecting boardwalk are built elevated on stilts so there will be no problem with leeches at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. If you're connecting onwards to Borneo Rainforest Lodge (Danum Valley), Kawag or Tabin, I'd certainly recommend getting them. We do sell leech socks at our gift shop in SRL as well in case you might need some but you won't need any at our place. Safe Travels! Tim
