We have traveled and worked all over the world so we always look for pet friendly hotels that will accommodate her.
On arrival we were very impressed with the location and the appearance from the outside. And it was even better internally with limestone features on all floors.
We had booked a side room which was a little noisy due to the traffic going past when sitting on the balcony.
But with the patio doors closed it wasn’t a problem.
Next time we would book a sea view so less chance of any noise.
The rooms are very nice and clean , beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning was lovely and cold. The only problem was the room size with having a German shepherd in the room.
The staff were very nice and friendly. Raul was so helpful when I was asking for information about allowing pets to stay.
The beautiful Marisabelle on reception was so nice and friendly and always happy to see you.
Albert the general manager was very helpful and happy and always made a fuss of Sasha and welcomed us back any time we wanted to stay.
And the restaurant attached to the hotel do the best food and the prices are pocket friendly.
Great local to see all the island either by car or the hop on hop off bus which leaves from the rear carpark next to the hotel.
We would definitely stay here again
Day two, breakfast served by a Maltese man, just kind of thrown on the table, maybe he was related to the dude in the tie...
Water bottles in the rooms, two small bottles provided when you first arrive. Second day, requested two more from housekeeping, but was told that bottled water is only provided on day one. Hmmmm, a 330 ml bottle of water if bought in bulk costs about 10 cents. Maybe the hotel should just up it's nightly room rate by 1 euro per night to cover it's water bottle costs. Good hotel, just the men need a little education and a little less arrogance. If you stay there, go to the Pirate's Galley just in front of the hotel, the men who work there don't have insecurity issues, service and food is awesome, don't bother with the San Andrea's male staffs' egotistical issues.. Cheers.
The breakfast was the usual tired buffet fare, with staff not bothering to refill fruit for example when it ran out without being reminded, and even then it was a paltry selection. The 'orange juice' was actually sugared squash - which is something I thought died out in the 1990s. I mean basic orange juice isn't expensive. Do they think we can't tell the difference? But the most outrageous failing was an ethical one. The hotel had a space heater (a gas burner from a bottle) running like a 5' tall flare in the outside area, even though no one (no one!) was in the outdoor seating area. It was heating the planet but no customers. Have they not heard of the climate emergency? That alone was enough for us to choose to dine elsewhere. I brought it up with staff at the time, but urge everyone with even a bit of green awareness to give this place a miss. Tired towels and thin sheets - not great.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful and we couldn’t have had a nicer stay. Rooms are clean and practical and have TV, tea and coffee making facilities, en suite and hair dryer. I suggest you bring shampoo and a bar of soap unless you like liquid soap dispensers but I’m ‘old school’ and like my own products. Close by is a small but well stocked convenience store, fish bar, and a collection of small but pleasant bars and cafés. A cocktail bar is a short walk up the hill and is worth a pre dinner drink…but don’t forget to return here for an excellent meal.
There’s a local bus nearby (2€) and the island tour buses stop here too just 50 yards away. Taxis are available and good value eg getting to the capital cost us 8€ (We used Bolt app for this).
Gozo is a beautiful, gentle paced island and is well worth a visit.
We were staying in Malta and came to this hotel for 5 nights, travelling from Valletta by fast ferry. (3€ Single).
Breakfast was fine.....good coffee, extra toast, I would recommend the toast and ham /cheese etc option over the "full English" and fresh fruit and juice was a welcome option. The location of the hotel is perfect, right on the water with restaurants and fun activities right on your doorstep. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely stay here again.
We paid £63.50 a night for a sea view room. The room was pretty small and a little dated but the view is well worth the extra. Very powerful shower!
Breakfast starts late at 8am when diving meeting time is 8.30am. Not a problem on the first day but we waited 25 mins for food to be served on the second day despite the server being aware that we only had 1/2 an hour. Not a good start to the day having to wolf down a full English in 5 mins flat!
Xlendi as a destination is a little disappointing at first after seeing such beautiful photos, there are a few hotels that are half finished and work going on on both sides but the place has charm despite the building work. By the end it was my favourite place to be. Swimming in the bay, the coastal cliff walks to the tower and beyond, the caves and best of all the sunsets. Absolute heaven (in winter at least) when it wasn’t too busy.
I did find it strange that some of the restaurants seemed to be open only in the day and a few only at night. Pirates Galley highly recommended. When we saw it earlier in the day it didn’t look like much but the food was so good, we ate there both nights. Fresh tuna steak, absolutely delicious!
