The Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands garners acclaim for its luxurious amenities, such as diverse dining options, well-maintained pools, and a private beach, all contributing to a family-friendly atmosphere. While some guests consider the services to be overpriced, many revel in the hotel's cleanliness and the staff's exceptional service.

Spent 4 nights over the Christmas with my family of five. We had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms and communal areas of the hotel were clean and decorated to a good standard. Beautifully decorated for the season and enhanced by having a carol service performed by a professional choir. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially Henri who so warmly welcomed you at breakfast each morning.Malta in general is a place that caters for those who wish to experience the true spirit of Christmas.
Also, the hotel and Malta in general caters well for special diets. Two in my family are gluten free and had no problem being catered for in all the restaurants.
Will definitely be back for a longer stay next time!

I went to this resort on a cheap time share offer. The hotel was to a high standard but not outstanding. The basic room we had was just above travel lodge standard. We asked for a self-catering room, which turned out to be worthless as the fire alarm went off every time we tried to cook anything. The prices of food in the restaurants was very expensive, given that there was another far cheaper and better restaurant just outside the hotel compound.
On the plus side the views out to sea were stunning, the beach and poolside were of a very high standard and all of the staff worked extremely hard. Unfortunately the scene, although idyllic was miles away from anywhere and the bus service left a lot to be desired. I would not stay here again, even at the reduced rate.
Part of the deal was to attend a meeting to show us the benefits of joining their time share scheme; they were very persuasive and the deal seemed too good to miss but they wanted us to sign up straight away and I was not willing to do this without time to think about it. On reflection I think we made the right choice.

Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, the rooms were very comfortable and had a nice country view. The food was simply divine and the pool was large and perfectly heated for this time of year. We also made use of the tennis court which we found to be very enjoyable and the hotel was situated in a very popular and lovely location, overlooking the beautiful Ghajn Tuffieha Bay. Despite going nearly every year, we never get tired of this hotel and we look forward to hopefully going again next year!

We stayed here with another couple and our 2 young children ... Hotel is lovely however not much for kids .. however the kids pool is good .. My parents have a room here on a time share type basis and they love it .. a little costly most noticeable when buying drinks .. however they do run offers at times .. we stayed in a one bedroom apartment very spacious and good amenities.. Wouldn't return as a family however would go back as a cp

My wife and I stayed in the resort from the 2nd to the 9th of December 2015. We escaped London damp weather this time of the year. We organised a transfer both ways as part of our booking. It is highly recommended because the resort is located some 40/30 minutes drive from the airport. Taxes aren't cheap. There is a bus stop outside the resort but I guess it isn't convenient with luggage. The drivers both ways were very pleasant and acted as guides describing places of interest on the route. All Malteas speak good English. They deserved few euros tip.
We were welcomed by very courteous receptionist. In no time we were introduced to our room 1322 on the third floor in the middle block. The room was good size, with excellent views over the Golden Bay. It was spotless clean and the bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. The room opens onto a wide terrace where we made our afternoon teas and watched the gorgeous sun set.
The resort has assorted restaurants to suite all tastes. The food and drinks were generally good and reasonably priced. This will be the subject of a separate reviews for each one.
The weather was exceptionally good with very calm seas, good deal of sunshine and didn't rain once. People were using the swimming pool and swimming in the sea and sun bathing on the golden sand beach.
I highly recommend the property for couples in this time of the year or with children in May/June or September/ October where the temperature is gentle enough to use the beach comfortably. The locals advised to steer away from the summer months when temperature hits 40/42 C degrees! Alan

We were lucky to get this hotel on a special offer, by agreeing to a timeshare presentation. We were treated really well, we got a lovely welcome and a welcome drink.although we arrived at mid day, we were given our room immediately, which was an unexpected bonus, The hotel is a little out of the way, but close to a lovely sandy beach, of which there are not many in Malta. It's also in a quiet area, away from the hassle and bustle of Valletta. There is a local bus stop a few minutes walk from the hotel, so you can get to Valletta in a hour or to Buggiba, Mdina, Mosta, and to the ferry for Gozo. The maximum fair is 1.5 euros. I think in warmer weather you might not want to leave the complex much, anyway! It's really worth being a bit further out, as the hotel and location is lovely. The staff are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble, whatever we asked for, such as different pillows, water, extra tea bags, etc was delivered to our room within no time. The room was lovely, we had a suite at the rear of the hotel, there was a kitchen, dining area, lounge and separate bedroom. The bathroom was very nice, but the shower was over the bath, not too easy to climb in and out of and a small bath. The bed was super comfortable and was king size, with good bed linen and down duvet.there were lots of little touches like this that make the hotel excellent. There were reading lamps as well as the bedside lights. Coffee tables in the lounge, the kitchen is really well equipped. Our only complaint was that the back of the hotel, with countryside views, was always in the shade. This made the room feel cool and the balcony unusable. This might be an advantage in summer, but not in winter. When we asked about being moved to a sea view room, once again, the reception staff did everything they could to get us one. We had the last four nights in a suite the same, but the sea view and the sun made it 100% better! The balcony was huge and we were over the outdoor restaurant and could hear the fountain. We did try the indoor pool, but it was way too hot for swimming in. Also, we went in the evening, not knowing this was one of the kids' times! Check the times out if you want to go there, as they were even in the jacuzzi. It was very noisy and very hot! The outdoor pools look amazing, but not heated, so we couldn't use them, which was a shame. The timeshare meeting was quite heavy after the first couple of hours. Be prepared for that if you go on this deal, but, it was really worth it. The chap we had wasn't happy when we said no! There is a nice Italian restaurant near the beach, where you can get a good breakfast or lunch, very reasonable. We tried the Italian in the hotel, but the service wasn't good as it was so busy. But, the food was fine and the prices very reasonable. They also do takeaway which was great, We ate in the buffet restaurant one night, 'Flavours' which was much better. Good service, good food, a much nicer ambience. There's a nice lounge bar next to it. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, I don't think there can be a nicer one in Malta.

Stayed at this hotel recently as I had an early flight from Luqa the following day. As this was during the recent CHOGM hosted by Malta, hotel rooms around the island were scarce; otherwise I might well have opted for accommodation closer to the airport. Nevertheless, I chose a suite at 170 Euro.
At check in, I was casually informed by a completely nonchalant and disinterested young lady, that due to the CHOGM all restaurants would be closed that evening, but 'light snacks' could be purchased from the Lobby Bar. When I pointed out that this came as a surprise, particularly as I was paying the full room tariff and would expect to have been informed at booking that only limited services would be available, I was greeted with a shrug and 'Yes, well; what are you going to do?' Unbelievably, she then attempted to sell us various spa treatments, memberships and explain that we would be charged for pool towels if we did not return the slip of paper she was now about to hand to us. Whilst I am sure this is the standard 'Radisson Brand' Check-in spiel, in this circumstance it was both glib and unnecessary.
The room itself was, as you would expect of the Radisson Brand, comfortable enough and reasonably clean. Inexplicably however, all the knives had been removed from the kitchen area of our suite leaving only forks and spoons. Given the lack of dining options it might have been appropriate to at least provide the necessary implements to explore our own catering options without the need to inconvenience us further by requiring us to request the necessary equipment! As it was, I opted for room service and dined on tepid, lacklustre food for which I was charged a supplement of course. A wholly unsatisfactory situation and definitely not the relaxing stay I had hoped for before returning to work.
What has made this experience leave an even more bitter taste, is the fact that despite two messages to Radisson Customer Care, and receiving their standard 'we will reply within 72 hours' corporate response I have not received any formal explanation as to why I was cynically charged for hotel services that the hotel simply were not in a position to deliver. This is a very poor performance for a global chain which claims to be client focused.

Very easy, local bus is cheap but so is the local taxi (Bolt). The ride is about 18 euros
Don’t use the hotel taxi service though (Drifter) as they were a lot more expensive than Bolt

We didn’t go full board, so don’t know. There are Several hotel restaurants which take bookings, but are expensive. 5minutes walk from the hotel is the Apple Eye restaurant which is half the price of hotel and has a fabulous menu. We ate there 5 out of 7 evenings. You can catch a bus into Bugibba where there are loads more restaurants.
There are more places to choose from in the Mellieha area.
