Stayed in Penthouse suite. Sea view was incredible. Room and balcony was so spacious. Kitchen well stocked. Restaurants OK. Staff so attentive, friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they genuinely cared. Hired a car so it was well placed to visit all areas of the island and have peace and luxury at the hotel. Had a massage in the spa and it was truly relaxing.
Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands Mellieha Escape to Eden 830793515 The magnificent RADISSON BLU RESORT & SPA, MALTA GOLDEN SANDS sits atop the equally magical Golden Bay, one of Malta’s most beautiful beaches. The enlightened French philosopher Voltaire once wrote; 'Rien n'est plus connu que le siège de Malte,' (Nothing is better known than the Siege of Malta). Back in 1565 when the Ottomans were at the height of their power, having conquered Egypt in 1517 and Algeria in 1518, their fleet, complete with 40,000 armed military, gathered just outside this bay before mounting the second siege of Malta (having failed their first attempt in 1551) via their assault on Valletta, Malta’s fortified capital. Malta would have provided the Ottoman’s with the launching pad to conquer Italy (Sicily is only 50 nautical miles from Malta), Spain and mainland Europe. One of the Radisson’s genial and knowledgeable managers was the source of this, and other fascinating facts about the location. Today, perched on surrounding cliffs, one can still see two of the 28 towers which the Knights had erected all along the Maltese coastline, whose purpose it was to signal to each other of any pending enemy invasion from the sea. Centuries later, the site where the majestic Radisson foyer sits today, was a hospital for injured Allied soldiers during World War 1 and the Gallipoli effort. The Maltese islands are replete with serious history. The hotel of course will be there to educate and point to excursions etc, for those interested to explore. Golden Bay is also the beach on which the landing scene of “Troy” with Brad Pitt was filmed. A couple of bays further north of this bay, stands Popeye Village, the set never having been dismantled since the Robin Williams 1980 film, and still a big attraction with big and little kids alike. Again, look no further than the Radisson’s resources for more advice. This brings us to luxury: Hard to think of a better base in which to recharge, from which to sally forth and explore the Maltese islands and their history. We have stayed here several times and keep coming back for many good reasons. Basically, it is geographically blessed, facing west for the most glorious sunsets; the beach is beautiful; it is unspoilt with construction on the wild cliffs circling the bay. The resort is just as beautiful, boasting gorgeous pools and landscaping, generous open spaces and full of natural light. Suites are no less wonderful; spacious and equipped with all you might desire for a perfect ‘home away from home’ paradisal stay. A seaview is highly recommended! Comfortable beds, roomy bathrooms, a glorious terrace ….. nothing is left to chance. Again, the cleanliness of the place stands out among other resorts, worldwide, of this calibre. Be sure to start your day with breakfast, Radisson style. Generous, varied, top quality and managed by the most obliging and professional staff you could possibly imagine. Throughout the COVID 19 restrictions, this was done without a hitch and without you, the guest, feeling that you were in any way missing anything. And, absolutely, with attention to your safety. There is a fabulous spa in-house with treatments galore; tennis courts and horse-riding nearby. The beach and amazing outdoor pools in summer, and also a private sandy beach just below. Winter’s cooler weather rewards with walks, and the drama of the ever-changing seascape. The home comforts at the Radisson, are of course year-round! Dining options abound. Worth noting is the sensational Essence of India restaurant for elegant, genuine Indian cuisine, expertly served and seriously delicious. Agliolio does excellent Mediterranean cuisine - with a to-die-for terrace just up from the beach location on balmy summer nights. There is the terrific Mocca bar and Cafe for light meals/cakes/cocktails …. Swizzles bar and Flavours restaurant. Last but not least, this resort is blessed with professional, friendly and ultra helpful staff, who will pull out all the stops to make sure your stay here is one which will live in your hearts for ever. What are you waiting for??…
Since we organized our wedding there, we where given a free one night stay. After that one night we decided to stay for another night simply because the hotel is one of our favorite hotels in Malta with mind blowing views, excellent service and excellent quality.
We are never disappointed, even last year with the Covid issues we all experienced. All of the staff go out of the way to ensure our experience is pleasurable. Myoka Spa is second to none, I have experienced many, all over the world and the therapists here are second to none.
2 old codgers looked after very well. All staff were excellent. Instant attendance and knowledge in coping and assistance when one of us got overwhelmed with heat stroke ( even under table parasols). Will come back
We have stayed at Golden Sands on many occasions and the standards of the hotel remain very high. The bedrooms and bathrooms are now a little dated but are still lovely and immaculately kept, as are the public rooms. The location is superb (unless you prefer a crowded urban environment) with glorious sea views, lovely pools and grounds and a private beach.
Great stuff, clean, good food. Require more entertainment required, special offers for Spa packages, 5mbps cap on Wifi, unacceptable in 2022. Paying a parking fee for residents is not right in my opinion
Cleaning, service and food exceptional of high quality 👌 the staff were very friendly and always ready to help out and be of a service to their clients. Pool (indoor and outdoor) very well kept and client including the sauna.
We have recently had the pleasure of having our wedding in the Radisson Golden Sands in Malta. What can we say, the staff, venue and food where incredible! Nothing was too much trouble. We were unfortunate that on our wedding day it was really windy and we were due to have our reception outside. However this was not a problem for the Daniela and her team. Without hesitation they moved us inside to an absolutely incredible ball room, which meant myself, husband and guests could enjoy our time without worrying that the wind would get in the way. The rooms was dressed to perfection and the service they provided was out of this world! The food, can only be summed up in one word – WOW! Each course was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. I have never been to a wedding where every guest complimented the food! All I can say is, is you are looking to get married in Malta then the Radisson is for you! The beautiful setting and the incredible team are the perfect combination to make your day special. Special Thank you to Daniele and her team!…
