We spent ten days as a family at this hotel and liked the large rooms and the common spaces, which were quite large. The location for those who want a peaceful vacation is excellent, as we are 5mn by car from Mellieha where there is everything and also near by the boat to Gozo. The Hotel's three outdoor pools are good (there is one indoor and one in the SPA), but we favored the small private beach (cleaned daily) and the tiny coves on the rocky part of the seafront. The view over Gozo and Comino is spectacular and the sunset is unforgettable. The fact that the Hotel has a maritime activities company is a priceless advantage for guests, including to visit the Blue Lagoon in Comino. We can change towels daily, which is very nice. Breakfast was pleasant despite normal pandemic restrictions. We really liked the Kofi & Kale snack bar. The Hotel's shop sells everything at reasonable prices compared to stores abroad, including stamps to send a postcard in a mailbox next to the reception. We did not use the SPA but we were entitled to a demonstration massage by the pool. The Staff was very friendly, always with a mask or visor and very concerned with the cleaning and disinfection of the spaces. We did not like the absence of safety rules for guests, as freedom was complete as if we were not in a pandemic. We never measured the temperature (nor did we see it happen to other guests) and the use of a mask inside the hotel was not mandatory, nor even advised, at breakfast, guests would accumulate in lines without respecting safety distances, stirring some food without being noticed and the use of the mask was reduced to less than 5% of the guests (total irresponsibility of the guests and the fact that this is allowed), when all the employees wore a mask or visor and gloves and any shop in Malta require entry with a mask, which is the new normal. There were also no disinfection mats anywhere in the Hotel, which allows guests and visitors to bring traces of contamination from outside without any control. We considered these measures totally irresponsible, as our well-being and peace currently depends on compliance with hygiene and distance rules. We certainly want to return to Ramla Bay Resort because we liked it a lot, but outside the current pandemic because we understand that the lack of safety rules (namely the use of a mask inside) is very worrying.

Response from Henri Mattocks, General Manager at Ramla Bay Resort
Responded Aug 27, 2020
Dear Nuno P, On behalf of the team, I would like to thank you for your lovely feedback and for sharing your experience. Just a short note to inform you that as per the new directives issued by the health authorities on 17th August 2020, as from 08.00 on Wednesday 19th August 2020. the use of masks even by hotel guests was made mandatory inside the premises. Since then we have signage at all our entrances to the resort and more signage further in to once again remind guests to wear a mask. From that date onwards all guests in the resort are wearing masks and anyone who enters without a mask is politely asked to wear one. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again Henri Mattocks General Manager

We stayed for a week in a suite in the new atrium. The rooms were superb, coffee machine, fridge, iron+ board, safe etc. The bathrooms were very luxurious and the amazing number of towel rails are to be commended. Everywhere in the hotel was super clean and wherever you looked you could see some area being attended to. The staff - reception, restaurant, cleaners, bar were all friendly, polite, helpful and anxious to make our stay as good as it could be. It is obvious from the description that the hotel is in a secluded location overlooking Gozo. Last week the weather was lovely and there were plenty of sun loungers. There really are no beaches in that part of the island especially for anyone expecting Spanish type locations for example. Malta is an island for sun, sunbathing on loungers and exploring the culture. You can use public transport but if possible hire a car, we found an amazing and very well priced company who picked us up and returned us to the hotel when the car hire period ended.
The only suggestion I would make for management is that when you are first arriving late evening and tired, signage for the atrium rooms is very small and included with details of restaurants etc; you have to walk along a corridor, up some stairs and round a corner to find the lift - an explicit and larger sign would be really welcome. We had a fabulous week and would certainly return to the Ramla Bay resort and recommend it to anyone wishing to go.

Visited mid July. Nice hotel stopped in a sea view room which had amazing views across to gozo and comino. Room was a decent size and comfortable though a little old fashioned especially if you walked through to the new part of the hotel were the rooms looked much nicer I see a lot of out of season reviews are upgraded to these which must be nice. Strangely using travel websites they dont have some of the room options in there like a room for 3 which is a bit annoying as you can book them direct through the hotel website. The location is absolutely spot on with loads of loungers go straight into the sea which is pretty good for some casual snorkeling with little rocky outlets to explore. The food was pretty good with a reasonable amount of choice and different things most nights as well a good choice of veggie options. Wasnt to busy either considering the time of year. We had a 8 year old with us who's birthday was while we were there and they prepared a lovely cake and brought it in to sing happy birthday to her which was a nice touch. The kids night time entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed by my daughter though be warned dont let them drag you up to join in as I did as it was madness. Good fun though. The food serving staff were all very pleasant and helpful although a couple of the actual bar staff were a bit ignorant. Could not quite get what was going on with the restaurants and bars in the new wing they were mostly deserted or closed though we did find one on one night with some live music but again only about half a dozen customers which is a shame as the bar was beautiful with seats outside overlooking the sea. The pools all were nice enough but the little private beach and the loungers on the rocks were much better. There was live music on most nights which was ok though not really my thing but I am a bit fussy with music. Would have been nice to see some music down on the beach at night. My only real big complaint was when leaving. Firstly we had an afternoon flight which meant we had to wait around all day which would have been fine but the hotel could not let us keep the room on past 11 so we had to pack in the morning then haul our bags to reception were the Q was out the door and everybody was getting a bit agitated took us the best part of an hour to check out we then only had an option to stick our cases in a shared cupboard. And the option to use one shared shower room with everybody else in the same situation which by the time we got there was worse for wear. A hotel this size surely can do better than this it did spoil our last day. Which is a shame because I would have recommended this hotel other than for this issue. All in though it is a good hotel but they really need to do something for guests who need to be hanging around waiting for flights as it ends up wasting or spoiling a day. Also maybe a bit clarity as to what is going on with the other restaurants I would like to see some bottled local beer as the stuff out of the taps isn't nearly as good.

We were a group of 8,, in three rooms, all classed as Standard (2 with Sea View the other Land View( which also could be classed as Land and Sea view)) I had prior to arrival requested either a Ground Floor or room near to a lift as my wife has a slight difficulty climbing stairs. This was acknowledged by the hotel saying they would try to accommodate my request, sadly not forthcoming our room was on the 3rd Floor and quite some distance from the lift. However none of us could fault our rooms they were all very spacious clean and comfortable. We had booked on a Bed and Breakfast basis which was very good with an abundance of choice every day. I think the biggest complaint would be the location as during the winter months it can be difficult to get to and from as public transport is non existent as the nearest bus stop is probably a 20 minute walk on the sea side ( we didn't try the land side walk it is probably a bit further) saying that there is a rep from Drifter Travel with whom you can arrange various ways to get you out and about (we used them for transport to the Gozo Ferry and return also a trip to Valletta and back which proved excellent value) Evening meals were available in the hotel with either an excellent buffet in The Terramar and a reasonable Italian Restaurant also a venue called Koffee and Kale. More choices in the Summer months. Entertainment in the evening was quizzes on 3 nights plus a singer one evening which was fine for our group. Overall a very good stay enjoyed by all our group

Hotel : welcoming reception with very helpful staff, we were given a bus timetable on arrival and explained where the nearest bus stop was, this was a brisk 5/6 minute walk . Buses were very frequent to most places, you can buy the bus passes in the hotel shop.Hotel always very clean. Gozo ferry terminal is a brisk 15/20 minute walk away, traffic was so queued for the ferry it was quicker to walk than get the bus.swimming pools were closed outside which we expected, indoor pools should have been 2 but 1 of them the family pool was not hot enough to use, so they allowed children in the adults only pool but between 12-5pm it was adults only, or so it should have been we went twice and kids were in the pool during this time, we spoke to staff who were not pushy enough to get parents to get them out which was very annoying, they need to make the rules clear to parents and in my opinion at 12 ok tell them its time to come out.
Room: we had a 1 bedroomed apartment in the new block room number 8027- it had a spacious lounge/kitchenette, a 2 ring induction hob but very little workspace if you wanted to prepare anything, there was a bottle of washing up liquid and a cloth which was very useful, lovely electric coffee machine with plenty of coffee pods replaced daily when used plus long life milk.
Bedroom: very spacious with comfy large bed, a tv on the wall, small fridge plenty of wardrobe space and a safe which was easy to use and a great help, the en-suite was large with a good powerful shower. Plus shampoo/shower gels and soaps put there daily by cleaners.
Separate bathroom: this was lovely to have after long days of walking a bath with shower overhead.
Dressing gowns and slippers were also on the bed on arrival. We had 2 patio doors of each main rooms, with 2 chairs and small table on each of them.
We had a problem with a drought coming in the patio door of bedroom we had the maintenance out twice to it but was told it was to windy for the company to come and look at it, as the rubber strip needs replacing, a poor excuse we thought and disappointed at no point did we get offered a chance to move apartments, it was quite a noise coming through the door and a drought !
Restaurants: we only used 1 of the , the Piatto Nero the Italian, the food was excellent and great service, good value indeed.
Would we return, Malta was a beautiful island, but not for us so no, but i would recommend the hotel

Ramla Bay is a hotel divided. Brand new and the much much older part where we are. We cannot complain about the view from our window absolutely lovely. With the window open the sound of the sea is very calming.
We only had two lifts for two days. We were in one when it stopped between levels. Bit scary when lift door opened to concrete wall.
Cleaner is very hit and miss but her manager who had had to come and drop off coffee milk toilet rolls is friendly and helpful
Indoor Spa Pool is very nice but there are times when children can use it. Trouble is some adults are not able to read. You have some loud mouth encouraging his brood to chuck balls anywhere even when he can see you trying to swim
Jacuzzi very nice
Restaurant for breakfast:food is good. Plenty of it. Shame no side plate.
Evening restaurant has plenty of choice. Roughly 20 a night no drinks. Far higher with.
Tried to upgrade to half board No
Would we come back yes. Near to buses you u can get all over island plus Gozo 21 euros for 7 days.

The hotel itself is lovely, food great, staff very friendly and helpful. Our kids loved jumping off the rocks into the sea by the hotel and snorkelling around. Take goggles, pools are salt water in Malta, bit stingy on the eyes at first!!
The hotel is in a perfect location for catching the ferry or chartering a boat to explore the beautiful lagoons/islands of Gozo and Comino. We were all inclusive; We had complimentary arrival drinks in the room, a free boat trip and a free hour on a pedalo. I would advise hiring a car if you want to see the sites of Malta as Mdina/Valletta are about 1.5hrs on the bus but 30mins in the car. The bus service is regular though and we did use it for short journeys. Restriction/Covid wise; the hotel was clean, all staff wear masks, hand sanitiser placed around and buffet is served by staff. You are required to wear a mask in shops and on transport. The entertainment package was very reduced, there is a daily pool exercise activity but no other entertainment/music even in the evening. Perfect relaxing getaway but possibly too quiet for those looking for something more lively but dont let this put you off as I am sure entertainent will be scaling up again soon. There isn't anything to dislike about this hotel in my opinion and Malta is beautiful.

Ive just come back from a 4 day trip to ramla bay,i went alone and it was my first time in malta. When i first got there i was greeted by angela on reception who told me they'd upgraded me to a deluxe room with a sea view and i was so happy the room was beautiful with breathtaking views,I was shown the half board and all inclusive options and went for half board so i had my evening meals included for 3 of the 4 nights. The food was lovely with plenty of choice. The waitresses wasnt very friendly though they was really rude That let it down a bit. Theres a lovely supermarket in the hotel that sells everything you need with really helpful staff and kofi and kale is worth a visit the cakes and cofee are amazing.I was told about the amazing spa at the hotel i had a jacuuzi and sauna everyday after my days out it was so peacful in the outside jacuzzi overlooking the sea and even though it was the winter season i was so lucky to have beautiful weather. as ive got crutches they Told me about the drifter shuttle service to take me anywhere on the island. I booked the shuttle a few times and went to mdina and selima and it only cost 6 euro return, they dropped me off and picked me up a few hours later. There was 50% of the shuttles atm it was an amazing service the spanish lady who booked it for me was so helpful and lovely and the drivers told me the best places to go on the island ralph was especially helpful so it was perfect.its a 5 minute walk to the bustop which is a few stops from the ferry port to gozo which was £4.50 return and when i got off in gozo i went to the bustop and people where offering tours of the island for 10 euros it was 15 but they drop the price outside.. i went on a 3 and a half hour trip all around the island you can get off at any stop the buses come every 45 mins, i stayed on for the whole tour and took photos from the top of the bus this was perfect for me as i cant walk far.. I can honestly say this has been the best holiday ever. Ill be rebooking for next year i did so much in a short space of time it was perfect...

We really enjoyed our 2 week stay, being retired and having a hire car which we both drove. But we heard such disappointing, sad stories from the people with small children in the room next to us and other parents. The hotel is totally isolated [fine for us] with no cafes, restaurants, pubs or shops withing walking distance. Nothing. So they had nowhere to go and they said the children were bored solid and that they had to spend time just walking around the grounds [which are very nicely kept]. They said that they had to get buses to get to souvenir shops or to get a beer. There is a swimming pool, but the parents said that the temperature was much too low for small children. Shame. However, we had a lovely time and think the hotel is absolutely ideal for older people - fantastic food, with a lot of vegetarian options. Super breakfast choices. Impeccably clean public spaces - there were staff everywhere, cleaning, cleaning and cleaning! Talking of the staff: all very friendly and helpful. they couldn't do too much for you. Customer service people permanently stationed on reception, So if you had a problem or a query, there was someone to deal with it for you as the reception staff were obviously often very busy. Choice of restaurants in the evening. High class cooking. Fantastic coffee shop with delicious, beautiful cakes. But not a hotel for small children in January. In summer, we could see that it would be a great family hotel with 3 outdoor pools and a beach.

Excellent location for a quiet peaceful stay with very little else around.
Stayed in. “Country view” room which was clean, spacious and had a super view over the countryside but also the sea! The room was cleaned daily although the water bottle was never replaced during our five days.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very well catered with lots of choice especially for the cold items. The breakfast restaurant had fantastic views towards the ferry port.
We opted for paying extra for the dinner buffet €18 pp which we felt was very much worth it. The food was very good and a huge choice.
All the outdoor pools were closed until May. The indoor pool is small so can be crowded.
The sauna was not working throughout our stay, the 2 jakuzis didn’t work properly and the Ham-am is only available if no one has booked it for treatment.
You only get one free towel. If yours gets dirty or you cannot get it dry you are charged for another one!
The carpet in the corridors leading to the rooms has seen better days.
There is a room safe but to use it there is a charge.
In my opinion there should be no charge for towels and the safe in a 4 star hotel.
There is a feeling that there are 2 different hotels here the old part and the new. I think if you are in the new part you probably would view the place differently!
In summary this is a good quality 3 star hotel which could very easily become a four star with a little money spent and some changes in the charging structure.

You can walk along the beach side of the hotel to the other side where you can find an Italian and a Libanese Restaurant. Have not tried the italian but highly recommend Byblos lebanese restaurant. If you are staying at Rabla Bay resort, recommend getting a rental car. I f you are not up to driving then use Bolt.

We were there last summer. Drinks were extra with the meals.Buffet style restaurant but plenty of choice so easy to find something to eat. We used the pizza restaurant as well but I think there was another type as well but these cost extra. A five min walk away are also 2/3 other places to eat. Hope this is helpful
